Thanks, they look good. I wonder why you couldn't start driving earlier. Is it because you have to be clean of any pain medications for 24 hours?

I think also its hard to move your arms around in that position for the first little while. II'm still using a thin pillow between my chest and the seatbelt!

With the bra and tubes

User Avatar

I bought a cheap 3 set of cotton sports bras for $15 . They don't have a clip, so I have to step into them, but with a little help its been easy. I've been changing them every 2nd day. I don't have tape anymore, the nurse just put the gauze bandages on my breasts and the bra is holding them in place... Much more comfortable.

Are you still in pain kaytan? When you say the nurse helped you. Are you still in the hospital or home? If at home do you need a nurse to help with the drains and bandaging? God Bless

The pain isn't that bad. Its just enough so that I know what my limits are. I'm down to 3 ibuprofen per day and 5 acetaminophen. The drains hopefully come out today. In Ontario we are covered for an in home health care nurse..I was only in the hospital for 4 hours post-op. The nurse advised me to take an ibuprofen 1 hour prior to her coming today as it does feel a bit strange when the tubes come out. I'm looking forward to it. My back is killing me sleeping upright!

I'm glad to hear you're not in a lot of pain. I'm hoping I don't have to have tubes put in. I go to my regular doctor for the paperwork tomorrow. Then I have to send it or bring it to my surgeon so they can get the breast reduction approved by my insurance. I'm praying that I will get approved. I hope everything works out for you and that the drains don't hurt coming out. God Bless

Drains are out! It didn't hurt at all. I feel like the drains are a really important part of the recovery process...there's a lot of gunk that comes out that I wouldn't want staying inside my body!

I'm so happy for you. I went to my doctors and she said I would benefit from the breast reduction and that medicaid should approve me. I'm so excited!

Hi everyone,
The home care nurse just left and I snapped a few more pics. She didn't take the tubes out as they are still draining red and wants to wait until the fluid turns yellower. Although I'd like them out, it makes sense to err on the side of caution and let them drain some more. My breasts were more sore today ... And turning yellow, ( bruising) which means the nerves are starting to repair and they are healing! My bum is getting sore from all this sitting, but I'm not complaining!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I have inverted nipples in case people were wondering what the heck was going on there. I always hated my nipples growing up as I had no one tell me why they looked like that. I was told I would probably have a hard time breast feeding, but I didn't worry and my daughter had no problem coaxing them out and kept at it for 3 1/2 years.... Too bad they went back to inverted after she weaned, but they did their job and they don't cause me any pain, so I've learned to accept them. Ok, here's some pics of day 5
