Hi was a rhinoplasty included? Your nose looks great! I am supposed to have a septoplasty done and very scared the doctor will mess up my nose

I found this website right after my deviated septum surgery. I appreciate how everyone has opened up regarding their recovery I have learned a lot. I was referred to Dr. Luis Macias by a friend and after the first consultation I knew he was the right Doctor. He is a great listener and is always fully present in every appointment. I got my nose broken many years ago and with time breathing through my nose was more difficult. Tired of Doctors insisting on nasal sprays and allergy pills I decided to get the surgery done. It has only been 3 weeks and I am so happy with the results. Dr. Macias work is precise and he is very passionate about what he does. Also, Tami and all the staff from Marina Plastic Surgery are top notch they genuinely care. I am glad I did the surgery because it has improved the quality of my sleep. Forever thankful!

Thank you for sharing! I'm glad you are breathing better!

Thank you! Have an amazing day
Yes, I as many know had a terrible reaction to a laser! However, surgery is not one fits all! It's been very helpful to discuss what happened. And, its also wonderful to hear and see someone getting great results! When you have a Septoplasty with turbinates' fixed per se, this is much more involved than Rhinoplasty. I hear, and research my butt off, so I know better next surgery, swelling, hard to get a good nasal breath is common! This type of surgery is one of the most complex; chime in anyone! Everyone absolutely reacts differently! Keep following your docs orders, and don't push it! If you feel something doesn't feel right call call call! Hope you feel good very soon. I'm trying to get the same surgery too!
HI how long after surgery were you able to breathe. I had this done on oct 16 (septoplasty and turbo reduction ??) today us Oct 20 and had the splints removed and got suctioned out. He said still swollen. Was able to breathe a little when I left but few hours later still totally clogged up. Let me know thank you
Hi, I was able to breathe that same afternoon after surgery. After my splints were removed I was told it is common to be congested. To my surprise there was hardly any trouble dealing with congestion. I think taking a 20min power nap a day and 8hour sleep besides chamomile and rosemary tea kept me comfortable. Hope this helps in any way. Congrats on your procedure! Keep nurturing yourself your body is healing.
Sorry to intrude (congrats on the great results OP!). But to "septoplasty"- just wanted to say you're not alone, I had my surgery (it also fixed my deviated septum and turbinate reduction) and I got my splits off yesterday and I can't breathe through my nose yet. But I know I probably have massive swelling soon, so I'm confident that with a little time I'll be able to breathe much better than ever. They said the swelling after surgery is sort of like the swelling you would get when you have a cold and your nose is stuffy. So it's completely normal and usually takes a few weeks to start clearing up for most people. Also, my doctor said there's probably a lot of "gunk" up there still blocking the airways which eventually will make its way out. So don't worry and good luck!
(Also I had my surgery on the exact same day as you!)
And Aleezeeah- great advice about the rest, tea, and nurturing yourself while healing!
Congrats on your surgery! Funny how our body's all react in a different way. Hang in there the worst happened already (was nervous about anesthesia) lol drink lots of water and food low on sodium. I have a daughter that is dealing with stuffy sinuses and the cold compresses help her too. What I did do, that I wish I didn't was eating hard pita chips. Ouch! Big hug to you!
I went through the whole allergy meds, nasal sprays, and the deviation, bone spur, and breathing issues are far worse! I am so pleased you got a good result!
Bless your heart, I hear ya some things need to handled by a surgeon. All those medications end up being just toxic.
I agree! And, they have there own set of side effects. What was your final decision when choosing your surgeon?
Hi! A friend of mine referred me to his office. I trust her with my life. I decided to set up an appt. and he was aware within minutes about my breathing problem. After my first visit I met another person that raved about his detailed and clean work. I had good trusted sources referred me. Now I am a grateful patient as well.
