As a transgender woman, my goal was to achieve a natural and acceptably female face, and to work with some notable experts in this highly specialised area. I chose Facial Team due to their highly professional approach. I had the following done in a 5-hour procedure: trachea shave (Adam's apple), chin narrowing with sliding genioplasty, lip lift, and forehead plus brow bossing smoothing. Their surgeons showed an excellent understanding of surgical technique and aesthetic balance. My recovery was smooth, and the patient care and liaison were brilliant. Like all surgery of this type, you need to be realistic about what is achievable, and marry it with other aspects of your transgender journey. We began with two highly interactive Skype sessions to discuss what was on my wish-list, with the surgeon explaining which ones were truly necessary for me, actively discarding unnecessary procedures. Prior to surgery, together with my parents, we discussed each area of surgery, its challenges, risks and likely outcome. I was fully ready for the surgery on the day and totally satisfied.
