Hi Everyone!
I just had my cast taken off my nose, and I took some before/after pictures to show you. My “before” and “after” pictures were taken about a month apart. Although I still have a ways to go for the swelling to subside, I am beyond ecstatic to see the improvements in my new nose. It’s beautiful!
Thank to all of you who shared your story on RealSelf. Because of you, I was able to banish any last minute worries and self-doubt prior to my rhinoplasty surgery.
I found the RealSelf community about a month ago, and in the days leading up to my surgery, I was growing nervous and scouring post after post after post about other people’s rhinoplasty experiences. I stayed away from Googling about how the actual rhinoplasty procedure was done though, because I didn’t want to make myself more nervous, haha. I did read about it after the surgery. Also, I stayed away from any mirrors at home for the first few days post-surgery, knowing that I might freak out at my swollen, bruised face.
Fortunately, I actually did not experience any bruising or much discomfort. Even my doctor was amazed and told me that I looked great when I saw him at my 3-day post-op appointment. I attribute that to nurturing a positive mind. I extensively researched other people’s rhinoplasty experiences, so that I had a peace of mind knowing what to expect going in and coming out of surgery. I made sure to be diligent in taking my vitamins and medications, and to follow my doctor’s instructions for post-surgery home care. I also made sure I surrounded myself with people who support my rhinoplasty decision during my recovery. And sleeping a lot helps as well. Sleeping promotes healing.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to do a thorough research on who you choose to perform such a life-changing event on your body. I picked Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj (aka Dr. S) from reading RealSelf patient reviews. It appealed to me that he specializes in ethnic rhinoplasty, and I was impressed by his work showcased on his website and phenomenal testimonials. Shortly after coming across Dr. S’s website, I made a consultation appointment, which further solidified my decision to choose and trust him as my plastic surgeon. I couldn’t be happier that I chose him. Even though I am currently only 10 days post-op and had just gotten my nose cast taken off today, I already feel a huge confidence boost. For that, I am so grateful to Dr. S.
Best of luck to everyone who is either considering or is recovering from a rhinoplasty procedure!
P.S. I should mention that Dr. S also performed full face fat grafting along with my rhinoplasty. I love the results from the facial fat grafting procedure too! Somehow the fat transferred to my face made my skin so much nicer and healthier looking. That was a nice bonus. ?

Nose looks perfect. What procedures were done on the nose? A silicone graft for the nose bridge and a alarplasty at the alar facial crease?

Could not look better! You must be so happy. Did dr. S use an implant?

Thank you so much! Yes, Dr. S did use an implant, but it's a special kind of implant that he created called the SLUPimplant. From what I understand, it's a customized silicone implant that he carves himself to tailor to a person's unique facial features vs. a cookie-cutter implant that gives everyone the same type of nose.
If you like, you can read more about it on Dr. S's website, and maybe that will answer your question better. The website is: http://www.**********

Your doctor did an amazing job on your tip, the best I've seen - especially for only 10 days. Drool.

omg your nose looks so cute, pretty and elegant!! congrats, I'm happy for you [RS bleep]
Yes, fat grafting is like a temporary filler (ex. Juvederm), except it’s permanent and safer because you’re using your own fat. What your doctor does is take excess fat on somewhere on your body (ex. from your abdomen), and transfer it to somewhere else on your body where you want the fat (in my case, to my face). For me, the procedure was a double win because I had stubborn belly fat that I was never able to get rid of by doing regular exercises.
Also, because fat grafting is permanent, it’s more cost-effective than using temporary fillers. The reason why temporary fillers are so attractive to many people is because there’s no downtime and it’s cheaper after one application. But the cost really adds up because you have to keep coming back to your doctor to maintain the results.
You can have fat transferred and grafted onto anywhere on your body. The reason why I opted for fat grafting on my face is because I noticed that in the past couple of years, my face was losing volume. To me, my face looked more gaunt, flatter, and a little droopier, and it was really making me insecure. The nasolabial lines (laugh lines) on my face were getting deeper and more prominent, especially when I smiled. (You can see my deep nasolabial lines in my “before” pictures.)
I started researching online and learned that losing fat in the face is part of the normal aging process. I learned about temporary fillers and tried Juvederm. I loved how it filled out my face more. But I really didn’t like how short-lasting the results were, and how expensive it was becoming just to maintain the results. So I started researching about a more permanent and cost-effective solution and learned about fat transfer/fat grafting. I feel like now my face looks more plump, younger, and there are no more deep lines and harsh dents in my face.
Hope my answer to your question helped!
