Before I chose Dr. Matthew Schulman as my surgeon,...
Before I chose Dr. Matthew Schulman as my surgeon, I did what a lot of us normally do, searched online for information that would help determine if he would meet my needs. RealSelf is the first place I looked for information and reviews on Dr. Schulman. I then checked his education and medical background as well as his website for before and after pictures, then "Social media." I found so many good reviews on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, as well as videos of shows he has appeared on. His videos expressed his knowledge and skills in a very warm and understanding way that catered to his patient needs and the before and after images, were really impressive.
I then contacted him through email and he responded back with answers as well as additional information that wasn't expected, which was a plus. I setup my consultation within two weeks with a very friendly front desk assistant named Rachel. Then the day of my consultation I felt nervous because I had to show my body to the doctor. I wasn't happy with my body because my breast were done in the Dominican Republic and a Tummy Tuck which I wasn't happy with. I also had abdominal surgery about two years ago because of an obstructive bowel, that left a big crooked scar that looked like I had two belly buttons because it wasn't centered, which made me feel like I had a deformity.
Dr. Schulman walked in the room and had this positive vibe and great smile that made me feel comfortable instantaneously. He made me feel like any issues I had cosmetically with my body he could fix. He had a great sense of humor which allowed me to open up and tell him what I wanted changed and why, so he could evaluate what outcome I was looking for. We went over my past surgeries, medical history and my "needs." When I left the doctor to walk to the front desk to book my surgery, I felt a sigh of relief; I finally found the doctor I would be happy with.
What I requested was, breast revision, BBL without injections and scar revision of the belly area. I needed to get rid of the saline implants because they got really hard which I knew was a problem, and the doctor confirmed as being capsular contracture. I opted for silicon implants which felt natural and soft and asked for a little bigger size. As for the buttocks, I needed a round shape, because after having my daughter it looked like my butt dropped and I had her years ago. A women always wants a nice round curve. Also, liposuction a must for this belly that has grown over time, ewe. For the scar revision I wanted my belly button centered as well as the old tummy tuck scar lowered.
As for the staff, they were so welcoming which made me feel even more comfortable with my decision, because every so often I come across staff members that are not so nice. They even answered my emails right away when ever I asked a question or needed to change something, which I call GREAT customer service.
The day of the surgery I meet Dr.Schulman's other staff members. Great people! They made me feel so comfortable, which made my nerves more relaxed. Then I met with the doctor again, to draw out what needed to be done on my body with markers, to ensure the incisions and work would be done properly and we discussed any concerns I had before the procedure.
Before the procedure I met with another one of his assistants, sorry but I can't remember her name, but she was very helpful. After the procedure, I woke up feeling like I wanted to go back to sleep but Kristen helped me stay up. She offered animal cookies and apple juice, which helped out a lot. Overall experience on the day of surgery, smooth transition from beginning to end.
Status as of March 20, 2016-
I am VERY HAPPY with my results! My before and after photos are attached. I am still healing, so my waist keeps showing signs of improvements. My back side I LOVE!!! Looks awesome in a dress, jeans and spandex; its curvaceous. I've received so many compliments about my figure. This has improved my self-esteem drastically, which made it so worth doing. **The Dr. also repaired a hernia that I didn't know I had, which gave me pains and bulged out. That was a plus for me.
If you're looking for a highly skilled professional, with ample experience and a great personality with a welcoming staff, then Dr. Schulman is THE man! You won't be disappointed.
