After a significant weight loss (150 lbs) I decided to start with my the reconstruction of my body. Because of a hernia, my insurance covered a portion of my procedures, so I opted to start with the abdominoplasty and brachioplasty.

On May 20th I checked in to Lenox Hill hospital in NYC, and underwent both procedures. My experience at the hospital was ok. The treatment was fine, some of the administrative stuff--not so much. I received a call the day before my surgery asking me how I was planning to pay. Why would you wait till the day before to ask me that? Super annoying. Second, my parents and partner were waiting for me int the waiting room for hours with no word. When my my mother asked--- she received a short and nasty response. Not ok, LH.

In terms of how I am feeling-- so far so good. It's been 4 days and the pain, is minimal at this point. I'm only taking the oxy at night in order to sleep and am taking Aleve for the day. Not bad. I am super stiff, sore and walking slowly. But I expected worse in terms of pain. The worst bit has been the constipation. Oh. My. God. I cried. No joke. AND I've been taking colace and drinking smooth move tea. I finally had to take a laxative. It was the only way. But now i'm trying to keep it natural by eating leafy greens. The next part that annoyed me, was that I got my period the day after. That was no fun. The drains are also not the most fun. Not pain, and I'm not squeamish per se, but its gross to have to do it. The fluid hasn't cleared up (its still red) but it IS lessoning day after day. I'm desperate for a shower---sponge baths are not doing it for me.

I go see my doctor on Thursday for my post op visit. I'll keep you posted. Not ready to post pics. I will soon though. - April

Dr. Syed Sayeed is located in Manhasset, New York. I found him in the most random way. My mother gets her eyebrows done at the same place one of staff does. They struck up a conversation, hop skip that's my doctor. I like him quite a bit. He's young and totally gets it. His bedside manner is great. I always feel like he's really listening to me. His staff is also, really nice. Attentive, responsive etc. So far so good. I would recommend them. I'll be able to rave, when I see the final results!
