Extremely pleased with my results and much less pain/ discomfort than expected. At month 6 of recovery, still get some swelling if I'm super active and out in the heat, but it's gone by am. Full results and nerve regrowth expected by month 12. Going back to have my thighs and arms done in the mext few months. I did NOT have my abdominal wall stitched, and still have wonderful results. During surgery Dr. Tanna felt it was not necessary to do, but I had also made this decision as I do not yet have children but may become pregnant in the future. This is one of the reasons I had an easier recovery, only being on pain meds for 3 days and back to driving after a week. He did make my abdomen nice and tight so it was a little over a month until I could fully stand up straight. The drains are a pain but a necessary evil, along with compression garments. By Dr. Tanna has you follow certain directions for best results. I was back to starting light treadmill walking around week 4, and cleared to start back to lifting weights around week 6/8. My incision is SUPER low and VERY small, definitely covered by the smallest bathing suit or underwear I'd ever wear lol.

My swelling and drainage gradually decreased. At 6 months I still wear some type of compression garment, most of the time (if im the heat & humidity isn't too unbearably hot). This tends to help with the swelling. It has gone down quite a bit, but I do notice on extremely hot days, or days that I am very active, I do have pudginess on the front of my stomach or on my love handles at the end of the day. It is usually gone by the next morning especially if I sleep with some sort of compression garment on.

Surgery was 2/11/16
One of the fears about losing weight was the excess skin, and the whole process of skin removal surgery - the pain & the scars.
I've seen some gnarly work out there, and I am so thankful I found the surgeon that I did

Thank you for your post and your pics!
How would having your abdominal wall stitched changed your results if at all?
Got recommendations for (excellent) surgeons and only 1 happened to be in network for me. I called his office, set up an initial consultation, and made sure that he accepted insurance in addition to self-pay patients (also made sure this specific office location was in network). During the initial consultation, I was able to get billing codes from his office. I spoke with my insurance again to make sure they cover the specific procedures I was looking to have done – which they do if they deem them medically necessary. The surgeon, my bariatric doctor, and my PCP all wrote letters of recommendation for me having the surgery. We also submitted pictures. Most of my first surgery was covered based on the pictures alone, and the amount that my skin hung down.
I just had my thigh lift done and that was a two month process of the surgeons office submitting appeals ( including pictures and a very thorough letter from a dermatologist citing numerous skin infections and irritations) and getting dermatologist documentation for 4 months. Upon the 4th or 5th appeal they decided to cover my thigh lift 100% - I was shocked. Going to try the same thing for my third and final surgery to get my arms covered
