I'm 51 and the last two years noticed a real decline in my skin, particularly the appearance of jowls. I tried all the things we try - expensive creams, etc. Finally I went for a consultation with Dr. Jacono and my husband and I were very impressed. He was honest, matter-of-fact and it felt like he was reading my mind. He voiced all my concerns before I did, right down to the fact that I never imagined myself getting a facelift. The mini-lift was clearly the best option and I have no regrets. I received the best possible care and amazing results. I look forward to every follow-up visit because everyone is so caring. I went in for surgery early one morning and was home resting by well before noon. Two weeks later I went back to work and as Dr. Jacono predicted, all anyone said was that I looked great and did I lighten my hair? (LOL) While I am not obsessed with my appearance and have no big issues with aging, I am very happy to now look in the mirror and see "myself" again. I don't think about the jowls any more, and I just live my life. It is also my second chance at truly taking better care of my skin, having come of age when we were all out there using baby oil to get tan!

What a great result. He has gotten some scathing reviews on RS. I'm glad this worked out so well for you.
August 28, 2016
I will check out those reviews but what I noticed in the waiting room was that there were some patients who seemed a bit obsessive. One woman said, but you still have lines on your forehead! And I said yes, I wanted those! (I only did a lower lift, did not go near my eyes or forehead but you can if you want). Every time I saw her (our paths crossed if the surgery was the same time) she was nitpicking about something else. So, not to be insensitive because I should read those reviews first, I think you have to take those with a grain of salt. I also don't know what people's expectations are going in...for me, my biggest fear was not looking like "me" - #Renee Zelwigger. And I look exactly like myself and Dr. Jacono has also helped many women who got bad surgery return to their normal appearance.

Hello - I just had the same procedure with him - I am 6 days post and still have lots of swelling and some bruising. I also feel like the skin is pulled very tight - did you also feel the same way? how long did it take for you to feel like you looked like a more "rested" version of yourself....Thank You!
August 28, 2016
HI - yes I felt all that and it continues, so don't be alarmed. You don't suddenly stop feeling it at two weeks, but you can go out in the world at two weeks. I am at week 8 and each week it gets better. First you are numb and tight, then less numb still tight, and eventually it gets better. At two weeks I really did look good, but a bit swollen. By five weeks, no swelling that others could see, but I knew it was swollen. I read about it and kept sleeping with my head raised and cut way back on salt and increased my water intake. Please hang in there. Obviously this is the toughest part and one filled with doubts, like why did I do this? But that will pass. It is surgery and all surgery takes time to heal. Read up on it - I believe 3 months out is this magic "sweet spot" for swelling etc. I think for me, I had "two weeks" stuck in my head as it all being "done" but it's two weeks to go out and about and return to your life, and probably 5 weeks to feel really normal again. Just rest, take it easy and call the doctor. All you are feeling is really normal, especially the tightness. It's annoying but you do get used to it and once you see how great you look, you'll feel really good.

Thanks so much for your response- Yes - having lots of concerns and yes - feeling like maybe I did too much (doubts) - I'll keep trying to be positive and hope I feel like you do soon! I have to have faith that he knows what he is doing but then I look in the mirror and I'm not there yet. Thanks again for your encouragement. : )

I completely relate to your emotions and felt similarly but now I absolutely do not. For me it was the 5 week visit when I saw the picture I posted here. That's when I knew for certain that my initial instincts were correct and I did the right thing. If you made this decision clearly and with the support of others, then don't doubt yourself right now. It is way way too soon. It is super uncomfortable and people don't really know it will be. Are you taking the supplements religiously? And the steroid prescription and pain meds? Don't be stingy with those - there is no need to suffer. Then I did plenty of ibuprofen after I finished the prescriptions. You will look like yourself, truly. He doesn't overdo it and he is all about looking natural. Remember how you felt during the consult? You must have felt good about him and about it then, so hang onto that. Keep commenting on this thread if you need me. I get emails so I can get back to you. I also hit "like" under my photo on his Facebook page so you can friend me on that and we can communicate through messaging on there.
August 28, 2016
Yes - I keep going back to how I felt about him - my gut told me (plus my research)!
I will "keep the faith" and await more healing! Thanks again for your words of "wisdom"!!!

Doctors are suppose to know the difference between an obsessive person and one who is not. A smart doctor should reconsider giving anyone who has unrealistic expectations surgery and suggest psycho therapy instead of surgery.
I'm sure ALL of the negative posts are REAL and there are many people out there suffering because he did a botched job on them. I happen to be one! He encouraged me to have Fraxel done on my entire face and reassured me that the laser would not cause any harm to my skin. It's been four years and my skin is still damaged by the laser, it's awful! He offers no help when things go wrong. I'm glad your surgery went well but let's see how things go in time. If things should happen to worsen good luck getting his support and watch how fast that sweet doctor and his staff turns on you.
August 28, 2016
oh my goodness, I meant no disrespect. I'm so sorry - did not mean to hit a nerve. I'll take it down. For four years to go by and still be checking his reviews must be awful!
August 29, 2016
I understand you didn't mean to hit a nerve with me and I also understand that you are pleased with his work BUT I don't believe in my heart he is the kind of human being that deserves praise. I maybe one Fraxel botched job but one is too many. This experience has been life altering- something I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy. The health of my skin has been completely destroyed! Instead of healing it continues to deteriorate. I've been to many doctors and they all said nothing can be done. Try living with that news!

Im with you Danee- im on my 4th surgery to correct this mess and out 50 thousand dollars as well. Slowly very slowly looking like me again. A ruined and flat broke life. I miss me.

Sosad4me thank you! I pray every single day for our recovery:) unfortunately we are the last people on his mind... Dispicable!

I’m so sorry for you both ;(. I hope you heal. I agree with you. Surgeons seems so sweet and fantastic until something goes wrong. They flip a switch.

He is way over priced and especially for a mini lift. Full facelifts don't even cost that much

Worth every penny

horanv
Not sure why others are so concerned about what I paid. Kind of my business, right? It was my FACE. My decision was based on the doctor. You can't really put a price on something so personal. He has no shortage of patients, because of the work he does and the aftercare. Yes, the price included EVERYTHING, plus after care for the rest of my life. I also live on Long Island. Dr. Jacono also funds his own trips to do cleft palate surgery on children in poverty-stricken countries, so if I helped with that, doing something so decadent for myself, I'm more than happy at what I paid. I don't get the whole faux "So sorry you paid so much." No one is truly sorry - you don't even know me LOL. You just want to make a point, give a dig, etc. I'm sure if the price tag is too much for someone, they should find a doctor they can afford. The one person I do know who "bargain shopped" her breast surgery is on her fourth surgery with the same surgeon, in an attempt to "fix" his first surgery. She is trapped because she can't afford a different surgeon at this point. She saved $4,000 initially. She would gladly have paid more if she could go back and just do it right. So thanks for all your concern, but I would not have done this if I could not afford it and I would have not have done this with any other surgeon. This is a man who helps women who have gotten bad surgeries (see the videos on major television programs) or google his work. Just don't minimize this procedure and think anyone can do it, or that it's "no big deal." It was a really big deal and lots can go wrong, if you don't use the right doctor. You cannot put a price tag on this type of expertise. Good luck and God bless!

i think you look fantastic ! I agree with you about it being a personal decision and it was nice of you to share your amazing results! Im 36 now but when I need a mini face lift i hope i can find someone as good as your surgeon !!!

You are right on all fronts. You look great and chose wisely!
September 21, 2017
Dr Jacono is amazing. Yes incredibly talented, intuitive, and he's giving of his time. He's the best and worth every penny, why wouldn't you want the best for your face??
December 27, 2017
Yonks- one day I will be daring enough to put up a picture of my face. Show me a handful of good results and I’ll show you much more debilitating and devistating outcomes that are so badly filled with nerve damage,Ectropion, oxygen loss noses, crooked smiles, scaring and the list goes on.
Their out there.
Giving of his time? Your kidding right? Don’t get me started -
Even his own peers know he has a reputation of being very aggressive in his surgeries.
Our souls are gone.
So yes, I too wanted the best for my face but years ago there weren’t forums like these to warn others.. You know the truth.

Were you ever able to get the work Dr. Jacono did corrected? I'm just curious. I had bad results with him too. I hope things turned around for you.
September 22, 2017
Wow, Amazing result! Can you tell me where your incisions are for the mini lift?
October 4, 2017
They are behind my ears and at my temples and completely not noticeable. Very subtle. When I tell you that absolutely no one noticed anything, I am telling the truth.

So happy a year later

Liking it even better a year later! Went to my 30th college reunion and felt comfortable and confident. No regrets. Glad I did it at 51, so that it wasn't that "big" of a change and now I just don't even think about it anymore. Jowls begone!

You look absolutely beautiful! Fingers crossed he can work that same magic on me. I'm scheduled for a lower facelift and upper and lower blephs with Dr. J in mid October and from the moment I booked it I've been so anxious and wish I was on the other side already. Elective surgery is scary, especially when you already like your face but at 52 years old I've recently noticed some changes and would just like to look like I did 5 years ago when I looked much younger than my years. I have the utmost trust in him and his talent. I just hope all goes as smoothly for me as it did for you. Do you have any advice for me that you wish someone had shared with you? How soon do you think I'll really be able to socialize with friends without them knowing I've done anything so drastic? Only my husband knows and I'm staying in the city for a week post surgery so I can keep it from my teen-aged children.
October 4, 2017
Hi - just saw this so I apologize for not responding sooner. Take the supplements he gives you and rest, rest, rest. Stop drinking and eat really well beforehand. Realistically, be prepared to be bandaged up and resting for at least that one week and just don't expect to feel like you are ready to do stuff right away. It's SURGERY. I looked maybe slightly swollen, very slightly, when I went back to work at two weeks but if I hadn't said anything, no one would have noticed or commented. Then again, I'm really honest about this type of thing. I would tell your kids, because, well, they are your kids. But if you decide to tell them after, I totally understand. You get a lot o pushback when you decide this because of shows like Botched. What people don't understand is that if you choose the right doctor and only want to look like yourself again, and are not doing anything crazy, you are going to turn out just fine. From this point on, start treating yourself really well - drink lots of water, eat healthy and NO BOOZE. It ages us more than we realize. Email me if you need me. You'll be okay. xoxo
