I had my CO2 Laser treatment on my face 12 days...

I had my CO2 Laser treatment on my face 12 days ago .
The Dr from Hale was reassuring and so lovely . The nurse put the cream all over my face then 40 mins later the Dr injected 6 pain dental numbing injections into my mouth area.
This went numb very quickly.
I was very apprehensive at the time the dr started the laser on my mouth area , but because if the injections I left nothing , around my mouth or chin area.
But as soon as he started on my forehead and eyes , I then felt quiet a lot of pain / discomfort .
I left the clinic feeling very happy after it was all over .
The next 6 days were the worse , scabs and eyes all puffed up . I put the cream in that the dr prescribed for me plus , antibiotics for infections and cold sores .
You will see over the next 10 days how I'm heeling .
Hated the nights as laying on my back I hated and the itchiness for 8 days unbearable.
I Love love the way my face looks like now , my skin looks amazing .
But I would never have it done again.

My Dr was fantastic , he was so so caring . Each individual is different and we all heal in different ways , depending on our skin type and healing process. I would recommend him.

I plan on getting this laser in the next few months. I am being put under short term anesthesia. The recovery looks very uncomfortable. But you sure look beautiful at the end of 12 days.

Awww , well it will sure be worth it. Yes I was going to have sedation but decided not to. If I really really decided to have it done again then I would certainly have this done. You are wise to have it under short term anaesthesia

I was also nervous and excited .But I highly recommend taking the same steps as Pappy7 Wish I had taken the option I was given of having sedation . Good luck ☘️ motherofms

Thank you so much. Unfortunately, sedation is not an option here. : (

I'm trying to think ahead and get supplies ready before the procedure. My doctor will give me the ointments, sunscreen, cleansers etc., but I know there are some other things that I should have ready. So far I have a clean, but old pillowcase, some very soft wash cloths, ice packs, Benadryl, Ibuprofen, and dry shampoo. I also have plenty of my regular cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen for when I'm ready to get back to those. Are there other things you would recommend I have ready?

I used Aquaphoe every day and lots of it . Once the creams were used up from the Dr You must sleep in your back with the pillows elevated . I did this for 8 days as the ointment kept rubbing off on my pillow and therefore I kept waking up early hrs trying-applying the cream . Pillowcase will have to be changed daily . Headband is required. After the 12 days I washed my hair for the second time , the creams that do stick to your hair wouldn't come out with an every day shampoo so I googled it. They say to use Baking Powder and washing liquid . Please google and go by the instructions on how to treat the hair. Well good news my hair went back to normal Thank the lord .

Great info. Thank you so much! I'm not looking forward to sleeping on my back. That will be hard. I have a wedge pillow I can use to keep my head elevated.

Hello motherofms I'm doing really well ty Poor you , it will get better honest . Just persevere . My redness has almost gone now . In someways it's a good thing as it kind of gives you a glow like a healthy skin glow .

Thank you for the update. I'm glad you're doing well. I'm mostly peeled now and very red.

I looked at the beginning ..it made me hurt so bad... but the out come is great. You look so beautiful. I had the laser done around my mouth and lips 20 years ago she went to deep and I have lots of wrinkles there. I have been told there is nothing can be done.. but I feel there can be looking at the women with wrinkles on here. I wish you luck. It sure did make a difference with you. Enjoy

Hi I think my Dr went quiet deep with the laser. Hence the scabs on my face . That's not very good, I feel so sorry for you

Should I plan on taking 2 weeks off from work if I have this done?

Hi Well everybody is different . For me 12 days is what I needed. You really need to rest after this treatment and to keep it clean , so being outside in the open area you are prone to more infections. I washed my face on Day 5 , as instructed by my dr . Again this depends on your Doctor or Nurse .

You look absolutely fantastic. I'm scheduled for one in June but I've been getting nervous the more I think about it. Would you be willing to post a before pic so that we can see how much has changed?

Aww ty jmthaw I would consider sedation , or dental injections . Only as I've been through it and found it unbearable at times , wanted him to stop. You'll look amazing I'm sure . Yes I'll post one

Lol, I'm unreasonably afraid of not healing...that Day 1 or 2 will be what I look like for the rest of my life.

Hi - I had the the CO2 Fractional laser last Thursday. It is now Tuesday and I am still swollen with a red, itchy face. How long did it take for your swelling to go down and the skin to peel off?
User Avatar
March 16, 2017
Hi It took about 14 days for the swelling to subside. The skin didn't peel off after the scabs came off I'm guessing it all peeled off under the scabs
March 16, 2017
I didn't have any scabs, just massive swelling and redness. The swelling is going down, and the redness is breaking up. Thanks for your reply - you look gorgeous!

I think I had the scabs because I wasn't to wash my face for the 5 days But it smelt so bad . Happy it's all over with now. You were very lucky

Hello Josette93 Aww thank you . But we are never happy with how we look . I blame it all on the Media . We have to look good.

You could be a celebrity, absolutely gorgeous, a much younger version of Goldie Hawn (sorry cannot think of any young ones to compare, I would use a young celebrity if I knew one cause you look that young and great!). The doctor that did the CO2 on you should put your pics on his website, he'd have them lining up for blocks! Thank you so much for sharing your journey ( ignore the turkeys that gave you a hard time, call it insecure on their part!). Allyson

I had a question for you! I saw my dr yesterday day 4 and then the nurse girl me I needed to get the dead skin off so I came home and sponged it off and now I'm bright red and very swollen still. I'm very worried that I should not have done this as the dead skin seems like a protection somewhat. I'm so mad that I did that. I feel like a took a day or two backwards. Did you use a sponge to get off the dead skin and at what day? Thanks

Hi Tfase On Day 5 I covered my hair with a dry towel and walked into the shower . The stream of cool water run over my scab face I softly rolled my hands all over my face and the scabs just fell off. I came out of the shower and dabbed my face with a dry towel. I was so relieved when all the scabs and goop was gone .
