Hi, I have been reading reviews in here for the past few weeks now and decided to start my review now as I'm so excited to start I think I'm boring my family constantly talking about Invisalign!
Let me tell you a bit a about my teeth. I've always had a problem with too many teeth, when I was 7 years old I had 6 baby teeth extracted as my mouth was already so crowded and teeth were just not falling out. In high school I had braces but before they fit the braces I had to have another 6 teeth removed! Three from each side. So by the age of 13 I'd already had a pretty traumatic experience with dentists and orthodontists. I had regular braces for about 2 and a half years I didn't find it so hard and luckily was not the only person with braces so was not embarrassed. When the time came to finally have them removed I was given a retainer that looked like Invisalign trays only I'm guessing it was thicker, I was told to wear the retainer at night for 6 months, so I did. After a year or so of not wearing my retainer surely enough my teeth moved back to their crooked position, not as bad as they were but bad enough for people to notice. I returned to the ortho just before my 18th birthday and they said they could refit the braces (as I was under 18 this would all be covered by the NHS) but all I was thinking about was turning 18 and wanting to go out drinking and having a mouth full of metal would probably not look to good, so I turned the offer down.
So here I am now finally in a position that I can afford the £3400 that it's going to cost to get my teeth lovely and straight I am unbelievably excited! My first appointment where I have impressions is tommorrow and I will be sure to update the review after my appointment.
Feel free to say hi I could probably talk about this subject all day haha :)
Ps not the best photo ever but you can sort of see how messed up my teeth are.

Impressions!
Went to have my impressions and x-Rays done today. I have to say of all the stages of Invisalign that I have read about, the impressions was the one I was most worried about as when I had impressions done for my metal braces it was pretty traumatic with the gooey stuff squishing down my throat ugh it was awful. I must tell everyone the material they use for the Invisalign impressions is so much different! It's alot firmer and did not leak out of the tray to the back of my throat so if anyone was worried about that please don't it was an absolute breeze :). I'm back there on Monday to have my bottom impressions done after I've seen the hygienist as I have a few deposits on my bottom teeth (oops). One thing I must say I haven't been to the dentist in probably 6 years (I know I'm ashamed) luckily I've looked after my teeth quite well and it looks like I don't need any fillings! So proud of myself but I wont ever leave it that long between dentist visits again.
Quick question - how long did you wait between having impressions done to getting to see ur clincheck?

WOW! That's fantastic, that you went 6 years without a dental visit and have zero cavities. I don't think I've ever heard that before!
As for the wait, I see wait times from a week or two up to 6 weeks, typically. Most are in the 2-3 week range. They've gotten better in GB lately, since they used to wait over 6 weeks pretty consistently. But the sample size is extremely small, so I could be way off base :D. Let me give you some reviews of others in the UK and you can see what types of wait-times they had.
Nicky.j, SugarKinesis, Cazzieboo, katgriffin, Natajacktoad, Pocahonta12, Kazzalou, Louiseyrollings, gemma123, mhussa, Rachel1982, movemyteeth, and Caff33.

I'm assuming I don't have any cavities because i would have thought they would have to do any fillings before the impressions are done and they haven't actually said whether i have any or not they just went ahead and did impressions. We'll see anyway! Thanks for responding :) i'll have a look at the other reviews. I could read these all day haha.

I don't see any reason they'd need to fill before taking impressions, unless there were very bad caries that needed full crowning. That they'd need to do before impressions. But I can't imagine they wouldn't have told you if you had caries!

Bottom Impressions
Had impressions done of my bottom teeth this morning after a visit to the hygienist. Impressions are being sent off to Invisalign as we speak. Hope it's not too much of a wait to get my clincheck. The dentist told me providing there are no delays I should have my aligners by Christmas. I'M SO EXCITED :D.

Hey you! I often come on here to read reviews and tips as I started Invisalign in Oct. Loved your excitement, I'm the same. Couldn't tell you how long it takes to see your clincheck as I think it went into my junk folder on my email oops. Hope it comes earlier then expected :)

I have to come on here to let my excitement out haha. How many trays are you having? I'm imagining the worse for myself meaning I bet I'll have like 60 trays hahaha
November 17, 2014
Ugh loads 44! That number scared me at first. I'm only on my second but bit of advise don't use your tongue to mess with the sharp edges it really started to hurt and defiantly file those edges down it makes a big difference! First few days I regretted getting them but that passes really quickly and the new regime and trays start to feel normal. They are super invisible well until the attachments haha. Go buy yourself a nice pencil case filled with teeth cleaning goodies to keep in your bag!

Yep got my little kit started already after having read so many of these reviews i may have to buy a bigger handbag now though haha (any excuse to buy new pretty things). I'm going to keep track of how many people actually notice them, I've only told a few people I'm getting them so we'll see if everyone else notices. Thanks for the advise on filing the edges!

Hi I started last Wednesday on tray 1 and am due to have my blobs /attachments on 13th December so suppose pain will be more acute

November 17, 2014
So there weren't any caries, right? :). If you get your trays right before Christmas, and if you celebrate Christmas, I would suggest considering starting after Christmas. People find large food-centered holidays very difficult with Invisalign unless they are extremely disciplined already. :)

November 18, 2014
Well if I have got cavities they haven't told me yet! Going for a proper check up on 3rd December, up to now they've just been doing the Invisalign stuff. I don't think I'll mind having Invisalign during xmas I just wanna get started! I already just stick to three meals a day with no snacking so it shouldn't be too hard!
November 18, 2014
Perfect! You will be able to stay true to your trays and your dentist/orthodontist will love you. ;)

Hi juiceee, it is exciting, I was exactly like you. Having made the decision, it was .... Let's get on with it already! For me it only took about 2 weeks before they told me they were in. I was sooooo nervous the day I went to get them, but it turned out to be no big deal. Fit like a charm, and although I definitely felt the pressure, there was no actual pain. Just needed to be careful with what I tried to eat in those first few days. Make sure your doctor gives you some chewies and use them every time you insert your trays. They help to make the trays fit over your teeth better so no spaces are left between your trays and your teeth. I was given 38 trays and am on tray 20, by the way. Oh and yeah, if they come in just a few days before Christmas, might as well wait....although a week later it will be New Years and you'll then be thinking .... Might as well wait for thst to be over too.... I would wait and see when the come in and weigh how important eating and drinking during the holidays are to you. Remember every two weeks brings you closer to the end of you treatment, and hey, it might save you from gaining a few extra pounds over the holidays....bonus!!!! (Sort of) Welcome to the invisalign world!

Thank youuu :). Yeah I think I could always find an excuse to not start, xmas, new year and I've got a few nights out in January for birthdays so I think it's just best to start when the trays arrive sooner I start the sooner it'll be over! So you're over halfway through. Have you noticed a big change??
November 18, 2014
The changes have been gradual, so you don't notice them yourself visually unless you take pictures. Other people who know you well do though, and that's pretty satisfying. What I niticed in the first few weeks is very much what others say they experience In terms of flossing being easier. Floss feared my teeth. They tore it to shreds and I think I've tried every one on the market. Within weeks, there was actually space between my teeth and flossing got soooo much easier. Now? Wide open spaces in some areas ( especially after IPR, lol). Flossing is a breeze! Other changes you notice with your tongue. I had very crowded tooth where some overlapped a bit St the edges. That's pretty much a thing of the past, and I'm only half way done. I have my snaggletooth which still protrudes a bit, but according to my clincheck that won't behave until almost the end. (Urgh) my bite has changed so many times I have to re-evaluate my method of eating on a tray-to-tray basis. I no longer bite the inside of my cheek, but I have almost swallowed my tongue a couple of times(yes, ouch - and no, I don't know why) . also my tongue no longer feels like it's trapped in my mouth - and I you can now see some teeth (top ones) when I smile - I think they have been brought down 'cos they look bigger. So yeah, ch ch ch changes! I will update my pictures with tray 20 ones on my next post so you guys can tell me what you think too!

Oo yes do! I love looking at before during and after pics. I'm going to take so many haha. Will keep an eye out for your recent pics!
