WORTH IT
I had a breast reduction (anchor method) that took me from an uncomfortable 34G to a perky and youthful 36DD cup. I would highly recommend Dr James Murphy. He is such a kind and compassionate man. I felt completely at ease and comfortable and knew right away that he was the right surgeon for me. Everything was explained to me very clearly, and I understood the process involved. Like most ladies I had done my research before-hand online and knew roughly what to expect. But I was pleased to discover that a post op bra was provided, so I didn’t need to worry about finding one in the right size beforehand. The nipple remained on the tissue and was moved up (ie not a FNG.) Pico dressings were used instead of drains, (you have them for 7 days) and I could shower straight away after surgery too.
All of Mr Murphy’s team have been amazing. Nurse Jac looked after me very well when I had a small hole that appeared at the T-junction at 7 weeks, I knew I was in safe hands with her. After meeting Dr Murphy on your first appointment you sit down with one of the admin team to discuss prices and dates. There is no pressure to book, you can go away and think about it for as long as you want. The Spire is a fantastic hospital and the service from all the staff was faultless.
The one piece of advice that I would give to ladies seeking a breast reduction, is don’t get hung up on final bra sizes. I have read so many cases of women insisting on being a B or a C cup size after surgery. After battling for so long with large breasts it’s a nature instinct to go from one extreme to another. Trust your surgeon, and follow their advice. You don’t want to compromise a good shape that suits your frame for a smaller letter in a bra size.
Having a breast reduction has been life-changing, it's so easy to go bikini shopping now. Recovery was very straightforward, I would say its mostly painless, you may feel sore or uncomfortable at times, but its usually towards the end of the day and its nothing that can’t be managed with pain-killers and a good night’s sleep, and it does get a little easier every day. I am very happy with my results and have absolutely no regrets.
