I had been considering a breast augmentation since...

I had been considering a breast augmentation since I was 19 years old. I have a chest wall condition called pectus carinatum which means my sternum pertrudes and it overshadowed any breast tissue I had. It massively affected my self confidence and I used to always wear push up bras to conceal it. It affected the shape of my breasts as the PC was more severe on one side, giving me some asymmetry and loss of volume. I had read about breast augmentation being an effective way of helping to conceal PC and obviously I also wanted to improve the shape of my breasts and correct the asymmetry to make me feel more confident with my body.
I was aware the procedure might be more complex given my chest wall condition so I wanted to find a surgeon who had experience operating on someone with the same issue. After speaking to a friend about it who had great results from her BA, she recommended two surgeons she had seen. One from transform and Mr Murphy. I went to the transform consultation first as they were cheaper and the consultation was free. I left in tears - the surgeon basically told me, I had asymmetry and that a BA would just make it 'look even worse'. He didn't listen to me at all and I couldn't believe the insensitivity shown. I had spent 8 years considering this procedure and it was a very personal issue for me so I was devastated. I was almost put off having the procedure altogether, but I thought no, I'll regret it if I don't get a second opinion and I had read a review of Mr Murphy on realself from a girl who also had a pertruding sternum. I booked in to see him and WOW the experience could not have been more different. He listened to me, completely understood where I was coming from - I didn't just want to have bigger boobs, this was an 'augmentation' - I wanted to basically look like I did when I wore a push up/padded bra. I wanted them to look as natural as possible and for no one to really be able to tell I'd had anything done when I was wearing clothes (I'd always worn padded bras anyway). He completely got what I meant and was immediately thinking of the best way we could achieve it, given my chest wall condition. I knew straight away I wanted him to be my surgeon.

The Spire hospital is a fabulous hospital and I felt so looked after throughout my stay. Mr Murphy requires that you stay the night after your surgery and the whole experience was so enjoyable and relaxing, I didn't want to leave the next day! The nurses and anesthetist made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I had my own room with ensuite and all my meals provided - nothing was too much trouble.

As for the operation details: I had to have two different sizes of implant due to my asymmetry and my sternum being more prominent on one side. Mr Murphy suggested that this, coupled with dual plane placement would give the most natural result and I trusted him completely. I'm now 4 weeks post op and I am SO happy with the results. I feel like they look so natural already and they already feel soft to touch and just like they've always been part of me. My PC is far less visible and feel so much more confident in my body. I wanted a natural slope to my breasts and to avoid the round 'stripper' look. Mr Murphy reassured me that that the type of implants he used (Motiva ergonomix) would not create this look and he was right. They are amazing!

I've already recommended Mr Murphy to two other friends who are considering a BA and I would recommend him to anyone. He was fantastic and I honestly cannot fault any part of my experience. He may be slightly more expensive than the likes of transform, mya etc but it is 100% worth it. When it's your body, it is worth paying for the very best and that's exactly what Mr Murphy is!
