Had the new procedure earfold where they insert a tiny peice of metal covered in gold into the ear cartridge to change the shape of the ear by folding it back nearer the head, had it done one week ago already my ears look fantastic, small and close to my head still have the tiny stitches but these should fall out in about a weeks time was so worried about having the procedure done didn't want to look like the ears were deformed as you see with a lot of ear pinning, had my consultation in Manchester England with a mr brian musgrove a really experienced plastic surgeon when he was fitting the trial ones I told him I wanted them as far back as possible without looking like Spock from star treck, it's hard to see properly with the trial ones that the stick on with sticky tape but got a idea how they would look, decided to book the appointment for the 19th when I had leave from work and was going to be off for few weeks, you can go back to work the next day but I didn't want anyone seeing my swollen ears, different for women who can cover there's with there hair, the operation took about 35min from start to Finnish no worse than going to dentist after the numbing injection couldn't feel a thing, was very sore that night in bed but still manageable pain and the inner ear was bruised and swollen for about 5 days now on day 7 no pain swollen almost gone and still tiny amount of bruising tiny stitches should fall out next week, I had 4 implants fitted 2 in each ear you really can't see them in the ear I know the cost is a lot £3710 but to finally get lovely little small ears it was worth every penny, all I've ever wanted was to be able to look in the mirror and not see to big wing mirrors on the side of my head sticking out, can't wait till the stitches fall out to finally get a nice stylish haircut that's short at the sides, anyone thinking of having your ears pinned back look at earfold it could change your life it's changing mine, 43 year old male from Manchester

it looks excellent, but man - you could have got actual Otoplasty for over a grand less.

I could have had otoplasty cheaper but The heeling time is a lot longer with the procedure I've had it took 2 weeks to recover totally, back to normal, otoplasty takes edges to heal, didn't have to wear any bandages much less intrusive surgery than otoplasty

At 2 weeks did you feel 100 percent? Did you feel like you can sleep in any position or, say put a helmet on if you wanted to? (I'm a motorcyclist and into sports so curious about that) Thanks!

Hi it's now been 6 weeks and there's no pain at all, even though I looked back to normal at 2 weeks I dont think I would have been able to wear a helmet It would have been a bit sore and the implants have not properly settled into the cartridge of the ear at two weeks, probably 4 weeks for a helmet, I'm so glad I had it done still think it's much better than normal procedure you wouldn't know they were pinned back if you had never seen them before, even though there really flat against the head, anything else you want to know just ask

Thanks so much :) if I think if anything else I'll be sure to ask here! It seems like the way to go, especially if the downtime is so much more manageable, I'm in the U.S. so I hope I can figure a way into getting it.....still doing research... I have no desire, or means to have a long recovery, not to mention, I only want a slight change, which seems comparable to the pics of seen on this site that shows the before/ after or "test" of how the ear fold will work.....I do have one brimming question, is it really noticeable? I have pretty fair skin (I think everyone has relatively thin skin on the ears). That said, I'm not too worried about a tiny bit of noticeability as it seems from some pics there is a slight bump or discoloration when looking at the ear. I guess I'm just curious if they look super conspicuous, or if they aren't too detectable? Thanks!!!!

It's not noticeable, to anyone else I can see a slight line but just looks like a small vain the stitches were gone in 2 weeks with mine

Hey thanks so much for posting this....how are things now? You are a month post are things still looking good? I'm very interested in this procedure, since the down time for a traditional otoplasty seems just unmanageable for me. Can you update us a bit on the experience since day 7? Thanks and happy holidays!

showing a side of angle of your ear doesnt' show us any sort of results we need to see both ears.

What's the difference between Otoplasty and what you had done?
May 5, 2015
Otoplasty is much more risky, time consuming and hassle because the surgeon cuts down the back of your ear then brings the entire ear closer to the head as you probably know. However this method (Earfold) the surgeon uses tiny curved metal implants and inserts them on the natural curve on the front of your ear which pulls them closer to the head giving a more natural look. I definitely reccomend it over traditional otoplasty for a number of reasons. 1- you can decide exactly how you want your ears to look during the consultation using prop implants then the doctor marks with a pen where you both decide to have them in oppose to otoplasty where the doctor ultimately decides how far to pin back the ear. 2- Earfold implants take around 15 minuets to insert under local anasthetic whereas otoplasty is a 90 min operation that reqires you to be put to sleep. 3- Earfold post op has some swelling and bruising but does not require you to wear a giant silly itchy uncomfortable bandage for weeks instead you just simply take care not to knock your ears and are advised to sleep on your back for 2 weeks and finally of worse comes to worse and your not happy you can have the implants removed and your ears will be returned to normal whereas if an otoplasty goes wrong or your not happy that's it your stuck like that for life. Google Earfold for more information or check out my page I had it done recently and definitely reccomend it.
Oh wow, your results look incredible so far. Thank you for sharing, be sure to keep us posted.
