I have a receding chin that, with age, has gotten even more obvious. In truth, it's something that's bothered me since I was a teenager, though. My doctor has suggested a medium size implant with lipo of the neck area. He will have a small implant on hand in case that seems like the better option. I've been wanting to do this for over 20 years and am feeling so excited (and nervous) for my surgery on Monday. I had my pre-op appointment and I'm ready!

I had a chin implant about 2 1/2 years ago. I'm very pleased with the results and to me, it was a big improvement. Interestingly no-one I know has ever mentioned it so I guess the difference is not noticeable to other people.

This site has been so helpful to me (I regularly was stalking RealSelf for a year before getting the nerve to call for a consultation). I'm sharing this hoping to help anyone in the same boat.

My surgery was Monday afternoon and it went great. I was nervous, but the doctor, nurse and anesthesiologist made me feel so comfortable. One minute I was talking to them about the beach, and the next, I was waking up with the procedure done.

Pain has been very minimal. I took the stronger pain meds I was prescribed for a couple of days, then switched to just Motrin. There is soreness near the incision site, but it's hardly noticeable. I haven't even taken any Motrin in 24 hours and I'm fine.

I'm still quite swollen, but every day it goes down a bit. The numbness is slowly dissipating as well. Today (five days post-op), I can smile again. Up until today, my bottom lip was fairly numb and my smile was... interesting. It's not totally back to normal, but I can see it's getting there. The main area of numbness is contained to the incision site and maybe a half inch all the way around it. I do have some bruising on my neck and in a few spots down my chest. Nothing awful.

It'll be a few months before I see the final results, but I am extremely optimistic. I took these photos four days post-op and even with the swelling, I'm seeing a great improvement. My only regret is that I didn't do this 20 years ago. If you're on the fence, go get a consultation and get your questions answered!
