I just had my surgery Monday Jan 18, 2016. I have 6 incisions on my stomach. I felt fine on Monday and Tuesday, I was up walking around moving. As of Wednesday I have had so much pain in my sternum area, it feels so right when so drink or eat Jello. I am burping so much and just feel so weak and tired. I have only been able to drink 33oz of water and a cup of jello. I just have that pain in my chest that hurts so bad. Is anyone else having this problem. It is the worst pain and causes so much discomfort when I sleep, walk and eat. I have had my gallbladder removed. I had a tummy tuck done December 21, 2012 and that was a piece of cake. This is by far the worst so have ever felt. I will not sugar coat it for anyone. I am sure it will be worth it but so am miserable right now. Can someone give me advice on this pressure or pain I am feeling.

Did you have a hernia repair at the same time? If so, that's probably where the pain in your sternum is coming from. Maybe you could try some hot/warm herbal tea, that seems to help with that pain and tightness. You really should call your doctor if it's really painful. Discomfort is par for the course I think. The gas pain is terrible but it really does finally go away.
Are you drinking 33 oz per day? If so, you're doing good for just 3-4 days out. I am 3 1/2 weeks out and just now getting up to my 64 oz some days.
Good luck, you've got this! It's just new and different, you'll adjust soon.

Also, gasX strips were wonderful!! They really really made a difference for me. I walked a lot to move the gas but sometimes I just needed the extra relief and the strips helped me.

I hope I adjust quickly. I thought the same thing about a hernia and I did not have a hernia the doctor said it could be reflux that is stuck there so I'm trying new medication. I hope it works because this pain is the worst. Thank you and I wish you well.

I hear you! I bet it will get better! Seems like everyone is miserable after surgery, and then some get the blues at around 3 weeks out. It seems that most people feel better after getting through that crucial month. Hugs to you!

Hi Yvette29 I had my surgery on Tuesday the 19th. Today I started having a pain in my stomach, more like a cramp. Which makes me think I'm hungry. It's weird it's between a cramp and a hunger pain. Only lasts for about 15-20 seconds. But I've had them all day. I am still on liquids, protein shakes and popsicles. I'm taking a medication from my dr for stomach healing. (don't know if that has anything to do with it) but hoping that it is just a healing pain. Good luck to you and hope you adjust well to your new stomach.

Hi it's so cool that we had our surgery one day apart. I had that pain it's like a cramp I couldn't figure out if I was hungry or not lol. The pain I have is right in between my chest like my sternum and it hurts when I drink or eat anything I find myself trying to catch my breath when I walk. We will be on this journey together I will be praying for you and I wish you the best with your my stomach. Good Luck and I'll be sending you hugs
