I have decided to get my 400cc 4 year old silicone...
I have decided to get my 400cc 4 year old silicone breast implants removed. I got my breast impacts when I was 24 in Golden Colorado. I was happy with the results, but as I matured and grew as a person I no longer felt comfortable or natural with my implants and was always trying to cover them. Now I find them very fake looking and uncomfortable, so I am excited to have the option to get them taken out! I have a consultation today with a plastic surgeon and will be documenting my progress.
Initial Consultation
The consultation went well! I arrived at the center, filled out some paperwork. They took me into a room where I had my vitals taken and I explained to the PA why I wanted to have the surgery and why I wasn't happy with my implants. (They did not pressure me to get new ones put in) which I was happy about. It seemed like they understood that a lot of women "just want to be done with them" as they put it.
The Plastic surgeon came into the room. I disrobed and the surgeon looked at my implants and looked at the scars from the original surgery. I put the robe that they had me wear back on and
he then told me about the procedure and asked me if I had any questions. Here are the questions I asked (the answers are not exact and have been paraphrased as I remember them)
Q:How soon could I go back to work?
A: The next day, you can even drive yourself home if you wanted to
Q:Will my scars be bigger if they are cut into twice?
A: No not really they should be about the same
Q:How will my breasts look after they are removed?
A: You are young (28) and you have not had them for very long (3.5 years) so your skin should tighten up and they should look close to how they looked before you had the implants put in.
Q:Will I have drains?
A: No, not unless we think you might need them. We will have you wear a compression wrap and that keeps the pocket under the muscle closed and prevents problems.
Q:What will happen to the capsule?
A: If it has not formed a hard shell, we will leave it in and it gets dissolved into the body.
Q: How is having the surgery under local anesthesia?
A: It is a fast and simple procedure, it is a little odd for some people to be awake as they are being operated on and some will get very nervous and their blood pressure will go up and that can make the procedure more difficult if they are not calm.
Q: I heard the saline implant is deflated or popped before it is removed what do you do with the silicone implant?
A: The silicone implant is taken out all at once in one piece.

Surgery Day
I had my boyfriend drive me to the PS office and was told I did not have to arrive early because it was an in office procedure under local anesthesia. For the first 45 mins I waited in a room with my boyfriend as they put on a numbing cream under the breast where the incision will be, I also drank some water and peed in a cup for a pregnancy test. I was asked if I wanted to take a cocktail of calming medication to keep me calm during the surgery, I was not feeling as nervous as I thought I was going to be so I decided to go without. They also gave me 2 antibiotic pills to take. After 45mins when the numbing cream was working I was called into the surgery room. I changed into a disposable gown top but left on my pants and took off my shoes. The PS and his nurse were very nice they had the radio on and were singing along to the music which helped keep me calm. I laid down on what seemed like a reclining dentist chair. I was cold in the room and they gave me a blanket to keep warm. First they injected the the local anethesia and moved the implant around. I felt fluid drip down the side of my chest. I was glad that I could not see what was going on as I looked up at the ceiling almost like being at the dentist. The needle for the anesthesia was the most painful part. After the area was numbed they cut into the incision, I think they used a burning instrument to cut through the skin because I could smell something similar to burning hair. Next they had to grab the implant and pull it out of the pocket. They did have some trouble pulling the implant out on my right side and had to make a bigger incision and then it came right out. I could feel the sensation of it being pulled out of my body and it was a strage feeling, but also a very relieving feeling, almost like pulling a splinter out of the body. I think my skin had remained very stretched with the implant in and the skin felt freed and relaxed the instant they were taken out. The Left one was pulled out and stitched up in what felt like just a few minutes. The incision on the left side did hurt for a split second I think the instrument hit an area that was not completely numbed yet. After that I didn't feel any pain. I was cleaned up sat up and the nurse put the ace bandage around me and gave me instructions to take care of the incisions. I walked out of the surgery center feeling a little shaky but i wasn't in pain and I was walking fine and thinking clearly and able to carry on a conversation I felt like myself. (After I was glad I decided not to have the calming medications because I was thinking clearly and felt like myself after it was over, but I can understand why you might what it because being awake was a little nerve racking but thankfully I stayed pretty calm during the whole thing. The drive home which was about and hour was not painful. My boobs looked a lot smaller and the zip up sweatshirt I wore there fit much better, my boyfriend kept saying you look good. I got home ate some bone broth that I made last night in the crock pot, I was very thirsty so I drank a lot of water, no nausea and not feeling hungry for a big meal I had oatmeal for breakfast. It is 4 hours after the sugary, I am staring to get an itching feeling around my chest but no pain yet. I am trying to stay in bed propped up at the 45 angle, but I am able to get up and use the bathroom and get things from the kitchen. I am getting a weird feeling like fluid is moving downward inside my chest, just fluid and air bubble like feeling. The ace bandage is restricting my breathing a little bit but not too bad, I have a zip in the front compression sports bar on over the ace wrap.
