Seroma back :( got a drain put in
Swelled up again. Made the 10 hour drive yesterday to get the fluid drained and got a drain placed instead. Good!! Now it will heal and stop filling up! Drain kinda sucks. Slight pain in stitch area. It's very strange to have something sticking out of you. I'm afraid I'm gonna yank on this tube! Almost 5 weeks post op. So ready to be done with this. Right is great and behaving nicely. Left is angry. I'm so happy I didn't wait. I should be good by the time it's tank top season in WY. Still totally worth having them out!! Haven't missed them once :)

Seroma :( anyone else?
It was going so well too! Left has decided to swell and retain fluid. That was also the one that had the rupture. It's not too bad as far as pain. Just feels tender and heavy. I actually think left is prettier but of course it needs to be drained. I go to the doc tomorrow to have it drained. Anyone else have this issue? Did it go away after the drain? Back in the compression wrap too :( Other than that all is great. Loving the small boobies. To my surprise most people didn't even notice. It's so nice to not have to think about those things anymore! The only time they don't look great is when I bend over but as long as I have a bra on they are fine. Aaaaaand if I'm bending over without one on and someone sees are they really gonna care about if the girls are round? Prob not :)

First off, you look amazing! But So Sorry to hear about your fluid. I am 9 weeks post op now and I am in the same boat as you. Was doing awesome, did not even had to take a single pain med since surgery, Then at 2 weeks post op the fluid hit me and my left breast looked as big as with the implant in. Had it drained 6 times without any results. Kept having a lot of fluid come back, The most was 160cc. After those 6 times of draining had it drained another 2 times and had sclerosing agent put in. The fluid ,after the first time the agent was added, was the smallest amount that had to be drained, 48cc. Hoping my next follow up is going to show even less fluid build up otherwise I might have to go back in to surgery to have the pocket cut out. Since the sclerosing agent was put in the first time, about 2 weeks ago, I have been ace wrapped which is really a pain but worth it if it helps keep this stubborn fluid down or away :) I wish this was all behind me as its becoming kind of depressing since I cant pick up my life just yet as before surgery. Would like to be able to play with my 2 year old without having to watch out what I do or how I move, Work out, Wear my tank tops without acewwrap showing or just even wear some kind of bra. But I am trying to stay positive as there isnt much I can do about it anyways and just hope for the best. It is what it is right?
Anyways just wanted to tell you my journey with this fluid so far. Hopefully for you it will only take one time of draining :) Guess its just a little detour on our road to recovery!
Good luck and keep us posted!
Hugs,
Silvia
Silvia,
Did you have the capsule removed? Drains? Thanks.
Good luck with your draining. what happens to your breast when you bend over?
Lol :) they just kinda go thin like and droop down in a really awkward shape :/
Oh no!! So sorry to hear about your seroma!! Did you have your capsules removed?? There is increased risk when capsules are left even if they were not hardened or problematic ie capsular contracture. Keep your wrap tight tight tight to discourage any further fluid accumulation after your aspiration. Can't believe you have to drive 5 hour to accomplish that!! Praying for you today dear lil sis. Keep us in the loop! BTW...not that I've seen tons...but you have spectacular nipples!
The capsules were not removed. I assumed they would be bit the doctor said there was no reason to and it would be more invasive so I decided not to. It was drained today and wasn't painful at all but I hope I don't have to go back again. This wrap is SO tight I can barely breathe! I have almost passed out when walking in the store! Ha! I might just leave it this way for a week. Besides it will help with my breathing control :) and thank you about the nipple comment! Haha!! I've learned to embrace their size cuz they're impossible to hide.
Hey there dolly, I'm an RN and just want you to be cautious about the wrap...yes it needs to be tight but not so as to restrict your breathing, you don't want to end up with a different set of post op complications!! Of equal importance regarding the potential for further fluid accumulation...minimize arm movement as much as possible and I kept my lift restriction very low and even though I'm past my restriction as of today (4 weeks)...still taking it easy. Avoid repetitive motion ie vacuuming, mopping etc.
Thank you! I did loosen the second wrap. I have one low an one high. I also had to remove the high one during the night because I just couldn't breathe. Already I can feel fluid in there again where the skin is squished out of the top I the wraps :( I hope it dissipates. Soooo discouraging. Mostly because of the very long drive :/
Yes! And...to think this could have been avoided!! Removal of capsules is critical to preventing seroma...I've read that PS's don't remove them because it's more time intensive...so annoying (I was adamant about removal of everything, it was even on my consent and yet my PS still left the capsule in my left breast. I have an appointment this Thursday and plan to bring up the issue). A small amount of fluid can be reabsorbed however if you're hearing the sloshing sounds of fluid that probably more fluid than can be handled and necessitates aspiration as it's an ideal medium for bacterial growth...you don't want to be dealing with infection! One of the reasons why I chose a local PS was exactly what you are facing now...the wear and expense of traveling in the event of complications! You might want to do a little post so as to warn others :( Continuing to pray for you that this resolves quickly!
I was ok that he left them. I knew the risk. The other side has been fine. I just pray this compression thing does the trick. I kinda knew I should have left it on another week. They said I could remove it. I'm def not doing that this time until it's been long enough. It's better than a bra anyway. No sloshing just spongy so maybe it's only a little and it will go away. We live in WY so the PS is local :/ anything within a days drive in WY is considered local. Besides there's absolutely no way any doc here in town would touch me. I've hear waaaaay to many bad stories. Bad. Like death and disease... I will def go back if it doesn't resolve. You're right an infection is not what I need!!
I had seroma in both after about a week. Both were ruptured silicone under muscle, contractured capsules removed, too. I was surprised he didn't put in drains as I fully expected that when I woke up but he didn't think I needed them. Anyway, yes they filled up and looked like I had implants again after about a week. I went in 5 times over the next two weeks for draining (which isn't painful at all) and after that, no more. I am now almost 6 weeks post explant and still loving how soft and natural they look and YES, it's not painful to sleep on my tummy anymore! Thanks for posting your journey.
Oh my! I hope it doesn't take that many! I'll wear this wrap for a month before driving 5 hours one way every week! I hope we both are past that and can move on with life and happy little boobies :)
I think compression helps. I didn't wear any compression and that's probably why I had to go back so often. Listen to dh60. If I remember correctly, she's a NURSE!!! :)
Thank you :) oh my you poor girl! That's quite a battle. I hope it is gone for you! I did too much too soon of course. You too? I felt so great, but that's me...Always overdoing it. I can't imagine so many times! I sure hope it's not that way. This wrap is so so tight. It's hard to breathe! I'm gonna keep it on as long as I can stand it this time. Thank you and good luck to you!!

Soooooo happy! I. LOVE. THE. NEW. BOOBIES! Post op day 4
I cannot tell you ladies how awesome it is not to have those implants! I feel like I have a new body. I can see my stomach! I can sleep on my stomach! No side boob! No nasty gawking eyes at the store! Lost 5 lbs lol! Feel thinner and younger. I am soooo happy! Don't be scared to get the removed! If it's really horrible it's always fixable anyway right? They are thin and flappy, they are little, but they're all me. That was an expensive lesson in self worth! You can do It! You are beautiful and sexy! That stuff comes from within! I seriously am telling everyone, even random strangers! This was by far one of the best things I've ever done. Stare your fears in the face! Overcome them. You can! You made it this far and that's half the battle right? If you can't stand them like I couldnt, you'll be so happy. And I almost changed my mind because there was nothing wrong with them (silent rupture). Anyway I just really want to encourage you ladies!! Thank you so much to all the brave women who have said NO to what society says is beautiful and have reclaimed their God given beauty! I am an esthetician, my job/business is to make people beautiful on the outside. I have learned firsthand that REAL BEAUTY comes from within and will outshine any outward flaw we see in the mirror. YOU CAN DO IT!
You are altogether beautiful, my darling, and there is no blemish in you-God (song of Solomon 4:7)
