Vision blurry

I had the correction for mono vision and my distance is still not clear. When I watch tv I can’t the faces of people are not clear. A year after my first surgery to correct distance I still have many days where I can’t read street signs. I have to wear a contact for my reading eye because everything is still blurry when working on a computer or anything 3 feet from me. They say I have 20/20 vision in my distance eye but, I’m going to get a second opinion at this point. Do not have this done! Dry eyes, vision not corrected properly and night driving is worse now than before the surgery! I still see halos and floaters a year later.

I had LASIK surgery done almost 20 years ago, and I was extremely nearsighted with a considerable astigmatism in one eye. After age 40, I could no longer wear gas hard contact lenses and soft lenses couldn't provide perfect vision because of my astigmatism, so I opted for the surgery with excellent results. I had better than 20/20 vision in both eyes for approximately 7 years, then my vision changed. I developed cataract in one eye and had surgery for that. I now have to wear eyeglasses in order to drive or watch TV. Once you have LASIK, it become difficult to wear soft contact lenses ever again. And if you do wear them your eyes can only withstand it for 6 or 8 hours at most. True, you can go back and have LASIK again for further correction, but in addition to the costs, there's so risks involved in repeating the procedure. In conclusion, If you can comfortably wear soft contact lenses, stay with them. Only when they are no longer an option, should you consider LASIK.
The point I'm making here having gone through this 20 years later-- If you can wear soft contact lenses, STAY with them for vision correct. They're now relative cheap compared to what they were 20 years ago. And as your eyes change with age, you can change your script for perfect vision.

COMPLETELY AGREE! I have to wear a contact in my left eye for work because I’m on the computer all day. I do find it comfortable to wear all day. The point of Lasik it to NOT wear contacts or glasses and I’m very disappointed. At night my vision is blurry and it’s better to wear glasses for watching a little tv before bed. I would not have Lasik if I knew this beforehand.

I wasn’t happy with my original results as I had to wear glasses for everything! I decided for reading that I wanted monovision done and they corrected it for free since I bought the 1 year warranty. It was slightly odd at first and over a month later, I notice the sight difference between the my eyes while watching tv. The great thing is that I don’t need glasses except for computer work right now. My vision is getting better and the doctor believes I’ll be able to read anything from 3-4 feet from me in a few months! Then I’ll never need to wear glasses. Thinking back now, I would have saved my money and just continued with contacts and glasses for my distance, but I would recommend going monovision if you’ll need to see up close and far away. It’s not as weird as it sounds and try using contacts for a month to see if you’re a good candidate that can adjust to it.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to need an enhancement. They don’t tell you that they correct your vision a little higher than your prescription to reduce the need for the enhancement. I have to wear reading glasses almost all day still and at my last follow up appointment 2 days ago, the doctor suggested I get +1 reading glasses for distance. My tv is usually still a little blurry and not as sharp as before my Lasik. I can’t see people’s faces as good as before my Lasik. I’m going to ask for monovision when I’m 99% positive they’re going to have to do an enhancement and get contacts to try it out so I know what to expect. Trust me, if you’re 40+ years old, try contacts for monovision before you have Lasik for just distance. This is not what I expected and now am regretting my decision.
