I am 5'4", 257 lbs, 42H (probably I cup), and I am losing weight before having a BR procedure. I haven't had a consultation yet, but I have totally set my mind to having a BR (after my mom and sister have suggested it for so many years). I am just SICK and TIRED of the back/neck pain!! It has severely ruined my posture, and I am ready for a major change!
I just graduated with my Masters and the stress/ bad eating habits/ loss of sleep/ and lack of exercise during graduate school just added to the "freshman 15" from undergraduate school. I am looking forward to being back at my "normal weight" (200ish).
All I read in this BR forum are helpful comments left by women who are supporting other women through tough, yet exciting times! I am so happy to be joing the community!
For now, I will be using this review to document my weightloss journey leading up to my BR! My starting weight was 267, so I have already lost 10 lbs!

1st of all congrats on your Masters!! Great job! And a great big congratulations on your decision to have the breast reduction. You will be SO very happy you did it!!! Your body is very similar to mine...small legs and most of your weight in the middle. Once you get the breast reduction, you will definitely be even more motivated to lose weight. Once you have the surgery you will immediately look and feel like you lost so much weight and the rest will be easy!! My Doctor just lifted all restrictions from me and boy do I need to work on my mid section. I did the Whole 30 wight loss program before my BR and lost 17 lbs in the first 30 days and then I added back in a few items of food from that plan over the last 5 months and lost 40 lbs all together. My husband lost 25 lbs in the 30 days doing the Whole 30 plan and then all together has lost 55 lbs. It is an easy eating plan with delicious recipes...the first 4 to 5 days of the Whole 30 are the hardest but once you are past those days it is amazing and the weight will fall off. Take care and we are here for you to help with everything!! So excited for you!!!

Wow 40 and 55 lbs!! Thats amazing! I'll have to look into the Whole 30 program! My biggest worry is keeping the weight off! Especially with the goal of losing about 60 lbs, I dont want to lose that much weight, get the BR, and then gain it all back! I'm really glad that I can talk to women like you and get some motivation and accountability! Thank you!

Sure thing! And once you do the Whole 30 for 30 days you really want to continue eating clean, good foods. It's crazy, that is why or how we continued losing the weight for 4 or 5 more months. Now I am motivated to work on my stomach which is now what I see when I look down instead of my big ole boobies! LOL Have a great day!!

Finally had a consultation!

I had my consultation on March 8th and scheduled my surgery for May 22nd. So soon!! I'm just trying not to think about it so that I don't overly stress out!! I'm nervous!!!!

Anyways the consultation went as expected. He asked what size I wanted, and I said D cup. He didn't really act like that was too unattainable, but he did mention having to do a free nipple graft if I went any smaller (saying he didn't want to do that obviously cause I haven't had kids yet). I hope he gets me to a D, but even a DD will be a relief I'm sure!!

In other news, I'm down 30 lbs! And I have an appointment at a weight loss center on Monday, March 19th! Just trying to lose as much weight as possible before the surgery!

Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck with your surgery. Your journey sounds similar to mine. The main difference is that I HAD to lose weight in order to have the surgery, but like you I decided to lose weight. I dropped over 40 pounds before my surgery and my PS was surprised how much weight I was able to lose on my own. I didn't do any diet. I simply got rid of bad foods and switched to cleaner eating. With the BR I am a whole new person. Now instead of treating myself with food, I treat myself with new clothes. I needed them too - most of my old stuff was too big. What a great problem to have! :) So far (except some Christmas weight,) I've been able to keep it off.

Yay!! So glad you've kept it off!! My number 1 fear is gaining it back, which is partially why I wanted to go to this weight loss center because you check in weekly. So I'll have that accountability! It's pricey but I think it's going to be worth it in the long run! I just skimmed through your review, and I'm also going to stay the night at the hospital.. I know you weren't doing well after surgery, but my PS "requires" all of his patients to stay the night. I asked him if there was any chance I wouldn't have to so I could save that money, and he said that if I was doing okay, he would let me leave but that if I stayed at the hospital, I would stay on a morphine drip. I'm sure I'll want to stay!! At least I know in advance and I'll be able to prepare!

I was so scared!!! Still a lot of pain! Staying the night in the hospital (my doctor makes all his patients stay). I'm on a morphine drip so I ain't complaining! But they did put a cathoder in me during surgery. I look SO MUCH SMALLER!!!

looks great so far!!! I'm scheduled for July 23. I am trying to loose weight also before my surgery. Did your insurance pay? Mine will not pre authorize even though the Dr. sent in all the documation!!

I never tried insurance.. I'm young and still live at home so I just saved the money cause I don't have any expenses at this point in my life yet! And once I finally decided to go forward with the BR, I waned to just get it done quickly! I can't even imagine having to jump through all he hoops insurance makes you! I know I'm very fortunate though!

Also, losing any amount of weight before the surgery is totally worth it!!! I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted (45lbs instead of 60), but at my initial consultation he acted like the smallest he could get me was a DD, and losing 25 lbs since then, he said I'll be a large C. So even 10 lbs I think would help everyone just be a little healthier and closer to their desired size! Sorry if I don't make sense lol I'm still laid up in the hospital bed. Just waiting to be discharged!
May 23, 2018
thanks you made sense..I'm a 42 G now hoping for a C if not smaller, Have a speedy recovery!!
May 23, 2018
Wow! 45 pounds is no small feat. Great job.
