I am a 27 years old female asian and I weigh about 115, 5'3. Prior to my decision to try miraDry, my body gets hot easily and during the summer I tend to sweat more than a normal person who doesn't easily get warm. Therefore, my underarms tend to be moister in the summer, and sometimes wet if theres not enough air conditioning! I don't know about other people, but I tend to get pretty self conscious when I noticed that my underarm is moist and embarrassed when they're wet! Yikes!! My friend recommended miraDry so I decided to visit Dr. Chase Lay office in Los Gatos, a few of my friends seek Dr. Lay's professional help for other services.
To be honest, I was actually nervous and thought about canceling the procedure because Dr. Lay and his very sweet RN, Thy throughly gave me an overview of what I was getting into. They sent me a pre opt checklist via email, phoned in my prescriptions, and called me the day before to remind of the appointment/ to take my meds. They told me of other patients' past experience and gave me an idea of what to expect for recovery and the downtime.
I don't tolerate pain well but only the first initial pokes of local anesthesia hurt, after that I couldn't feel anything. Dr. Lay had his RN, Thy performed the procedure while he supervised, eventually Thy took over and she made me feel comfortable. The procedure took about two hours because I came in around 12pm and left the office around 2pm.
The recovery was not bad for me at all, I felt very sore and it felt like a bad sunburn on my underarm. The first night after the local wore off completely, my pits were on fire!!!! Thank god, Thy gave me the pits ice packs and instructed me to take advil whenever I felt pain and honestly, I only took it the first night. The second night the burn felt much better and was completely gone by the third day. BUT BE AWARE, the first night, you're going feel it and look ridiculous because it is going to feel like there is something under your armpits where you can't close your arms. I didn't experience redness but the swelling is slowly going away so the area is kinda bumpy.
Dr. Lay and his staff called to check on me post procedure the second day and I haven't really noticed any significant changes in my sweaty pits because it has been cold the last few days. I will post an update if I notice changes but it has only been four days since the procedure.

Dr. Lay and his staff, especially Thy the clinician, who performed the procedure were very nice, thorough with pre/post opt details, accommodating, and professional. As mentioned in my review above, Dr. Lay and his staff fully informed me of the procedures pros/cons, shared others past experience/recovery time, communicated professionally through email/phone, and overall made me feel satisfied after my procedure when I was secretly afraid to even follow through.
