My Total cost reflects the amount I have spent so far in maintaining the non-surgical nose look for nearly 5 years.
THE INITIAL PROCEDURE (done in 2011)
It started out as a great non surgical alternative. It came out amazing. I was very happy with the initial effect. The Doctor used Radiesse, telling me it would last the longest. And it especially works well for raising the tip. Over the next few months it still looked good, but not as perfect as the first few weeks. I am guessing part of what I liked was the swelling. But it looked better than expected. I was very happy.
It was quite amazing actually. I ended up looking like a different ethnicity. My nose had a small hump, and also the tip was curved a bit. Nothing extreme though, but it did not have much projection at the tip. And it was not straight in terms of a harmonious profile.
There was little change to the effect from the frontal view. I basically looked the same. But the profile views were markedly different.
The most amazing part was that he raised the tip with filler. This was unexpected. But my favorite part of this procedure - the tip projection, was the very thing that dissipated the fastest. The overall straightness of nose stayed longer than the tip projection. So for tip projection with filler, you can get some pretty amazing effect, but I think it's short lived, as that tissue eventually reverts back to it's position as the filler support dissipates.
6 MONTHS LATER
At about 4 months after the initial procedure, it really started to fade. Not all of it, but enough to not look as good. But I waited until the 6 month mark to see if I would lose more, so I would get the most bang for my buck.
Following my initial injection, and the 1st follow-up, I basically stayed religious to getting it down every 6 months. Sometimes I would jump in at 4-5 months even. Sometimes I would wait 7 months.
Each follow-up visit costs about $ 800. I have done this since 2011 at least 2x a year. You do the math. Yep, thats about $ 1,600 per year. I am in my 5th year now probably overdue for another one.
I am writing this because I realize how much has been spent. Yes, I realize I could have had a surgical procedure, with possibly a good outcome, but for sure a more permanent outcome. But I could still be needing tweaks and tune-ups, as I know many folks who still get filler to refine their nose after surgery. Especially years later, changes can occur, and while the bulk benefit from the surgery remains, they can benefit from slight refinements and fine-tuning.
I loved the look and outcome of the 1st injection so much that I became a lifer.
Am I in the monkey den and I do not know it ? Should I stop and save money ?
Well I guess it all always comes down to personal preference. I am not really interested in surgery. So this has worked well for me.
But if you wanna maintain your wonderful look - prepare to spend money every year to maintain it. And the tip part of it is not something which even imo lasts 6 months. I think the tip projection benefit fades quickly. Within months I think it reforms to it's old position. That is my experience.
I have not pursued the permanent options such as Silicon and the micrdoplet technique as one gentleman in Beverly Hills I think is quite known for. I have not seen much proof that the silicon micropdoplet technique has any dramatic impact on a curved or bent tip. It seems to do much better for the bridge and dorsum, not the tip. I could be wrong, but from viewing the pics available online, people who get the silicon do not have much change in their tip projection or position.
So for now, I still think that the temp fillers are the way to go in terms of getting the effect you want. You just have to work hard for it!

I am with you on the temp fillers I have seen so many cases where people shell out thousands of dollars and they wind up as botched cases. I always like the idea of being able to come back from never land lol which is why since I just found out about this procedure you bet I'm doing it !!!

It definitely has positives. A few good friends, who have all had surgery, all have eventually getting some filler in their nose, to "fine-tune" things.
Juvederm, when injected into the nose, according to some Doctors on here, may actually stick around longer than Radiesse. I have had both, and to be honest, I think the Juvederm did indeed last a bit longer than the Radiesse.
I have considered the silicon micro-droplet approach as a more permanent solution in terms of filler, but it just doesn't seem that they can do much in terms of raising the tip.
Good luck to you DPAreYouWithMe!!!

That doctor who does the permanent filler is now offering a mini-consult which is a lot less than a full consult. He could probably tell at a glance if the procedure would help your tip.
Thank you for sharing! I don't know how many people actually think about the long term upkeep and cost when they first start this journey, so it is great to read your take on it.
