For a long while, I was troubled by bullies in my youth. They bothered me because of how I looked. I was no pop princess and I was no where near popular. I was just some latina girl trying to get along in America.
My features were very indigenous, my skin was very tan, I was morbidly obese and English was all I knew. It was difficult for me to make friends because of how poor I was. There was nothing I had that these children wanted. The only thing I had that they wanted was what was left of my self esteem. Kids talked behind my back. Ridiculed me. They whispered and pointed at me like I was some sideshow oddity. All sorts of names they called me. Everything from Jennifer Grey to Gonzo. By the time I reached high school everyone knew me as Cyralina,(which means the female version of cyrano de bergeuac). Shakespeare was big during this time and I happened to fit the build for that one story. The guy with the big nose.
No guys liked me. No one took me to Sizzlers to eat from the salad bar. No one voted me the prom queen for any of the school dances.
Finally, I had enough. I had been thinking about getting rhinoplasty for quite sometime now. I really think a nice nose would open up my eyes. Someone once told me, "if you hide you will never know who you are." Honestly. I decided to change my life today and I got the procedure done in West Hollywood. I am happy about my decision, and am waiting to see the results!

My cast comes off tommorrow!
I am so glad my cast is coming off tommorrow! It has been hell having to stay at home and do completely nothing! But, I know it is necessary. Its protocol. I have learned to accept it and am doing the best I can to refrain from being sad. From what I can tell it looks like my surgeon did a great job. I am glad I picked Dr. Raja Srour.

Cast is off!
Hey. Its been 1 day since my cast is off. I am really tired still. I managed to provide 1 photo of my side profile. It is definitely not the best photo. But, you can still see the results. Dr. Raja did such a great job! I highly recommend him!

Thank you for sharing your story so far! I'm sorry you had to go through so much teasing and taunting as a kid. That can be so incredibly painful. I hope that when your splint comes off and the swelling subsides you love your results. Please keep us posted!
