Hello everyone,
I've lost a total of 85 lbs and I've finally scheduled my appointment to have a panniculectomy on June 17th. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions/advice on what I will need before/after the surgery. Any tips/guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance and best regards!

Thing I did. I had my cloths for the first 5 days set out. I was not in the mood to look for anything. I got a nice recliner and pillows to sleep in man it's a lifesaver I have no fear a moving to much in my sleep. I hide a key outside so my friends could just walk in. Planned for friends to come over the first few days so they could cook or bring me what I wanted to eat. I didn't want anything I had. A spray handle for the shower is a must so when you can shower you can spray the important parts lol.
I'm 14 days post op. it was not as bad physically but mentally you go back in forth. Just know its normal first two days are the worst but not as bad as I expected. DON'T SNEEZE!! That's all I can think of. Good luck your going to love it!,

Adorablex2, I can't thank you enough for your comments s d suggestions. I suffer from allergies so I'll pray for no sneezing :) thank you and best of luck on your recovery. Please keep me posted on your journey! XOXO

Hi Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of the recliner. I am staying at my daughter's house and it is 2 story so sleeping downstairs will be great.
Any more ideas will be appreciated.

Question? Your paying completely out of pocket? Are you getting your mussels done as well? Just wondering is that a common LA price?
June 6, 2013
Hi Adorablex2, not getting anything else done just the panniculectomy. That was the quote and still not sure what the total will be. The doctor is out of network.

Thank you that makes me even more happy I did it before I move to LA I too paid out of pocket.

Hi I am wondering about the price also. I got a quote of $5,900 all included
here in Corpus Christi, Tx. I have scheduled for July 30th and would like to hear from all on their experiences. Any advice on before or after will be
greatly appreciated.

The date is quickly approaching and my nerves /anxiety is in high gear. I’m scared and nervous- I'm a mess! So many (negative) thoughts are going through my mind. Wish it was Monday already :(

In pain but hanging in- not much else I can do ;) the drains are a pain! Not sure how I'm going to endure them for a minimum of 3 weeks. I go see my dr on Thursday and I'll ask hubby to take pictures.

Hi Adorable, Monday was the surgery and the dr told my husband that he removed 4.1 lb. I've been taking the pain meds on schedule- can't handle pain.
Hi there, welcome and thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Congratulations on your weight loss, that's a great achievement! If you don't mind me asking, did you do it through diet/exercise, or did you also have some sort of WLS?
Have you asked your doctor about anything you may need post-op, such as: iron or vitamin pills? Also, it's a good idea to check with your doctor if you're on any herbal supplements prior to surgery as they may want you to stop them. Arnica really helps for swelling and bruising.
