Like many people on RS, I work out often (6x a week), eat heathy and focus on getting in shape, yet my belly has always been an issue no matter how much I do. I finally decided to do something so I could not think about it anymore and enjoy things like wearing a bathing suit. I just wanted to enjoy my body more while I'm still young enough to look good

Welcome to the community and thanks so much for starting your review.

It would be great if you could give us a little more detail about your experience, like why you had the surgery, your tips for getting good results, pros/cons, and info on the recovery process.

Our community members especially love seeing photos from before, during, and after — a realistic look at what they can expect. Photos grab the attention of the community and encourage more support for you.

As a community manager, I get requests all the time from other members who want me to to keep encouraging people to share their experiences, which are so helpful for others considering these procedures. So please accept this as a well-intentioned request from thousands.

Day of surgery

TheSearchForAbs
I arrived for my surgery and was prepped right away. I went with a procedure that only uses local anesthetic, which made me feel much more comfortable going through with it.
I was given some pills to calm nerves then taken to the surgery room. The nurse who prepped me looked at me and said that I was going to be so happy with my results and that my body type was the kind that no amount of working out would fix. That made me feel really good to hear actually.
After that the rest is a blur. It felt like I was in there 20 minutes and it was 4 hours. A friend picked me up and got me home. I took the pain pills. You are supposed to eat with them but I couldn't really eat. The only thing I had that whole rest of the day was a banana a third at a time. Went to bed and it was painful to lay down but once you are still it's bearable. It hurts, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't worse than I thought.

First few days

TheSearchForAbs
The first couple days are tough but by day 3 I was ready to go out and be in public. The compression garmet going on and off is the most painful part but I'd say by day 4 it's less tender. I think by day 4 I would have been fine to stop painkillers, except I had to fly so I took one for the plane.
This is also the time when I started to swell. It was obvious, especially in my lower back. Even so I think I look smaller swollen then normal before.
At my one week post appointment I was told I could start wearing the garmet only 12 hours a day. I was encouraged to start massage and working out. I went for a 2 mile run that day. It was not easy! Hurt a good amount and I was so slow. Like 2 minutes slower per mile. Oh well, gotta start somewhere !
