As of writing this in Nov 2016, I am a male aged 42, and when I was 27, I had surgery in Birmingham, England, liposuction of the chest to give myself a more natural look. The operation was so bad (with the surgeon of initials P.L.) that I was left scarred and deformed. After trying to remedy the look with scar revision and a synthetic filler, I decided to opt for what seemed the most natural remedy; fat transfer from my own body to the damaged areas.
I researched the procedure and surgeons and decided around 2008 to fly to LA to have surgery with what seemed one of the leaders in the field: Dr Steven Svehlak. I was aware and told that a lot of the fat placed into the damaged site could be reabsorbed by the body leaving anything from 20-80% of the fat placed in during the op, but still went ahead with the procedure.
After the corrective surgery with Dr. Svehlak (this included fat transfer and other small liposuction ‘tidying’) the look of my chest was massively improved and I was very happy with the results given the realistic outcome, after my original poor surgery in UK years before.
As it happened and expected, some of the fat DID get reabsorbed, but the fat that was left about a year later had still made a visual improvement and improved matters.
I returned to Dr Svehlak a number of times to ‘layer’ in more fat to the damaged areas and everytime I went to see Dr Svehlak, he was very patient, listening and understanding. He seemed interested to see my progress, and was always friendly, as was his secretary who would deal with meeting and greeting me. As for costs, Dr Svehlak was very fair with pricing of my subsequent return visits suggesting he was/is an honest man too – something I can say I didn’t find a great deal of in other clinics/hospitals. As for the results of Dr Svehlak’s work on me, it was always excellent. In fact the one visit I made to him, had all of the fat remained and not partially been reabsorbed, the work would have been almost natural perfection.
This review then is not just a good review, but also an indirect thanks to Dr Steven Svehlak, for the time and effort he has put into my situation. The road to my recovery after the original scarring /deformity of bad surgery has been a psychological and physical one, and Dr Svehlak has done an extremely good job of remedying the physical part. I only wish it was Dr Svehlak who first operated on me those years ago, life may have been a whole lot simpler…
