I can't thank Dr. Massry enough for correcting what I thought was permanent eye deformity. I'd had too much eyelid surgery which resulted in retracted lower lids below the pupils showing the whites of my eyes in an unattractive manner.

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us, Barbara. How long did your healing take?

I'm 62 and not a fast healer. And I posted my comment before scar tissue finished forming on my lids. People heal at different rates. But despite scar tissue underneath the top layer of skin, my eyes look so much better than they did before that my testimonial still stands.

I wish ppl would put pics up. How do we know these stories are true?? Frustrating

I have tried to do it but I'm not techy enough....sorry. Besides, why would the photos do anymore to inspire you than my personal observations....If you can't get an intuitive feel for going there, don't. And he has before and after photos to show you. You don't need mine.

Because lots of drs on here put their own posts up and we who have been through a bit of hell need the extra assurance. No negative toward you... just how it is. Lots get their negative reviews removed as well. So pics are our only real solid facts... if there are any at all.

Barbaralund9: Can you share with me what Dr. Massry did to correct your lower lid retraction? I am considering having him repair my retraction. It has been sometime now since your surgery, are your eyes still positioned properly? Thank you.

Yes, it has been a while. I'm pleased with the outcome. Overall it was a definite improvement. One eye healed with less scar tissue in the lower lid than the other but I'm glad I did it. You can't be a perfectionist when having revisionist surgery done......

Used hard palate grafts to raise my lower lids and stapled the outer edge to the top of my orbital bone on the outer edge giving my eyes an uplift look at the outer edge rather than the hound dog droopy eyed look. He also cut and sewed together outer upper and lower lids so not such a wide lower lid (don't know what that is called). At the end he put in a stitch to keep upper and lower lid closed for a day....It is important to fast and clean up your diet before you go in to enhance your healing....It made a difference for me.

I see i was posting with dry eyes, cant see when they act up.

What did he do to correct? Cheeklift? Canthopexy? Was it only eyelid surgery for $18,000?
June 23, 2014
can't remember the names but he took tissue from roof of my mouth to expand the lower lid (muscles beneath the outer skin?) .....He stapled the outside of them to my outer brow bone over each eye (maybe this is a check lift)....this involved cutting and pulling up the top layer of exposed lower lid and restitching it to the upper lid....Thus preventing the outside edge of my eye from drawing downward. The price included any minor adjustment that might be needed after initial healing I think...but I did not require any. The price is likely based on the fact that he doesn't know what he will find from the last surgical procedure.......kind of like remodeling.......he can only see the outside. Plus the fact that someone who is unhappy with what was done before indicates that this person may have aesthetic ideas in variance to what their first surgeon had..........difficult to please making the surgery riskier.....

Pictures do make it more believable. Patient comments have more weight that a doctors before/after advertisement. That being said, Dr. Massry does have a good reputation.

Yes, for revisionist surgery, it is very individual because....you've already got scar tissue....and individual resilience varies.....so you need to listen to your gut about undertaking the risk....

Barbara, it's been several years since your revision surgery. How are you doing now? Are you still happy with the results? Did the revision stick?
