I had a midfacelift per the recommendation of the doctor to fix my drooping lower eyelids. Now I look more masculine and I hate it. Has anyone out there been able to fix a midface lift which didn't suit their face? I'm on my fifth month post surgery. I hate the way I look and am trying to figure out if anything can be done to fix it.

I have to honestly say that I don't think your face looks even remotely masculine. It looks good to me. VERY good, in fact.

Hello pretty girl - yes, I had a non invasive mid face lift and I was unhappy with the results as well - not for the same reasons as you but basically just that I felt my surgeon didn't listen to what I wanted and talked me into and away from the right procedure for my face.
I know how you feel - because I've looked in the mirror too and thought "I don't look better - or younger, I just look DIFFERENT". Your face shape is entirely different than it was naturally. Its not that it looks bad, just different .
Be careful about jumping to fix it too dramatically - seems like the more people do, the more bizzare things can turn out. I've had to take this advice myself!! The only small thing I could see that you might be able to do with filler is addressing your temporal hollows. The roundness of the cheeks has now made the hollowing in your temples more apparent and its changed the line of your face (look at your pics side by side and see now it now appears that your temple is very hollow). Its a visual illusion, but one that probably doesn't help you like your new look.
Other than that I would not put ANY filler in your lower face - you will look distorted and way too full.

Thanks! Yes, it's so hard to not want to just go in and try to fix things right away. For those out there who haven't done surgery yet...think long and hard because it is a slippery slope. Every action has a potential reaction, meaning, changing the proportion of one thing changes everything. I learned the hard way and you can't go backwards. All the docs that I have met with have told me that the most common thing they hear is that people wish they'd never done anything to begin with.

Very good advice and I agree with you totally. Sometimes I look at people who haven't done anything and think they look much more beautiful aging naturally . I don't think I could have gotten away with doing "nothing" and looked good but perhaps I need to stick to non permanent fixes from here on out !

I believe that. I wish I had never done anything to begin with either…my surgery(s) made me look worse and it is really hard to live with every day. So hard to fix….I hope you find something that can help you feel better.

I actually think you're still pretty swollen and and 1 year will be much better. It really does take that long and fluid can't drain making it puffy. Try some lymphatic massage and compare your pics from now and at 1 year. Bet there's a major difference. Hang in there.

So sorry you're experiencing this. I think your midface lift turned out very nicely. Your cheeks just look a little higher and fuller but I don't think you look masculine at all. In fact it looks like it all could have been fillers. What I think might be impacting you in the mirror is the stark contrast between your new narrow jaw and the fuller cheeks at the same time. That proportion feels a little off. Your chin/jaw might make your cheeks look a bit bigger, and your cheeks seem to make your chin/jaw more narrow. Rather than mess with your mid-face again....would you consider adding volume BACK to your jawline to balance it out? I thought your jaw was pretty in your before picture. Maybe a doctor can add fillers along the jaw line so you can "test drive" that option....if you like it, maybe small implants on both sides.
I would be VERY careful attempting to have further surgery with your midface....I have read that "mid face lifts" requires extreme caution and there are more nerves in this area that can cause permanent motor damage if they are messed with. For this reason many surgeons no longer perform this procedure.

you can check revision cheekbone surgery & revision eyelid surgery.

I think you look very good, but you definitely need the right hairstyle for your face. You have beautiful high cheekbones and a narrow chin, so your hair has to compliment that.

7 months. Smile and eyes are still distorted
chi.girl1972November 23, 2015
I wanted to post an update. My eyes and smile are still distorted. There is a shelf next to my lateral eye. I hope people find this helpful. I'm posting these as a warning to those contemplating this surgery. It's not worth it. Save your money!!!!

1.After the jaw bone reduction, which areas exactly resulted in sagging?
2. What surgery was done to fix these sagging areas?
3. In what ways did the corrective surgery help? Any consequences that came with the surgery?

They not only did jaw bone reduction, but they did acculift(laser removal of fat) and v3 lifting. They said that these would make the vline "better". I was so optimistic, I didn't ask them the obvious question...why would I need v3 lifting? My biggest regret. Anyways, I was left with horrible gaps in the sides of my face and jowling. The surgeon also felt that my midface fell (I don't understand why this happened), resulting in flattening and ectropion of my lower eyelids. The surgeons who did the corrective surgery advised that I get a SMAS facelift, fat grafting below the eyes and a midface lift, to get the lower eyelids back into a normal position. My nose also was retracted (this was a separate issue), so they advised a revision of this.
The corrective surgery helped some of the skin sagging. They didn't replace fat in the areas in which fat had originally been removed, as I had wanted them to (I think the surgeon may have simply forgot). My midface was pulled abnormally high, causing my chin to become more pointy looking (everything was lifted vertically), and the shape and character of my eyes totally changed. I used to have more roundish eyes. They repositioned the lateral canthus more vertically, so now I have more of a slant. The most subtle changes make a difference in the eyes. Plus my eyes are really, really asymmetric. It looks really weird. Plus they keep saying that I need to wait a year, at least, possibly a year and a half. And they keep saying, "well, you had a lot of surgery", which is frusterating because I had specifically asked them if it was too much surgery at one time and they told me "no, we do these procedures together all the time". They keep saying "it's swelling, it's swelling". My eye surgeon told me that because the other surgeon did fat transplants under my eyes, it caused too much fullness in the midface and distortion of the eyes and that I just need to wait, then consider ultherapy. He claims he has never seen this before.

IMHO, in these new pictures you look better than the second picture you posted above. To me,overall, you look younger than the second pic. The eyes are not noticeable to me because Im seeing the big overall change which has made you look younger. WHAT WAS DONE TO BRING ABOUT THIS CHANGE?(Thank you for sharing everything. No doubt these surgeries bring consequences requiring more corrective surgeries to fix. )

Ha! I gained about 10 pounds. I also had a little filler placed near my chin area, but the jury is out on that. I think that my eyes look devious, or "off". I dunno. I still wish I can just have my old face back.
November 24, 2015
1. What did the filler do near your chin area?
IMHO,I think the only way you can try achieve the old face back is to augment the lower part of your face, the jaw line area because it was fuller/more structure before, which was a different balance to your face. Hang in there, you are great, never giving up. Sometimes I want to give up , but when I see how you keep going, keeps me going to...xx

Wait a minute. ... you look a thousand times better all of a sudden. I think it's must have been the swelling Because u now look in your twenties. I don't think it looks good now. You look much younger. I would think you look great now .

I meant to write I don't think it looks bad now at all. It looks great.

Theres are huge difference between your 5 months post photos and 7 months post photos and it looks like your face has really 'settled in' nicely now and you look more feminine and pretty for sure.
If you still feel unhappy, maybe consider dying your hair brown again to 'soften the look further'?
(as in your photo prior to any surgeries you appeared to have brown hair and now its black.)

Unfortunately, all the doctors that I've asked so far have said this is irreversible. I'm hoping to find someone who has had the experience of getting this repaired, so I can consult with whoever they had repair it.
Are you able to post non smiling before and after midfacelift photos?
In the second photo, after jaw surgery,it seems like your cheeks had drooped-was this caused by the jaw surgery or was this prior to the surgery or was this just a bad photo?
Im just wondering too why your doctor would have suggested a midface lift to fix the drooping eye instead of blepharoplasty?
I have an overbite and was going to get jaw surgery but now i'm not so sure as i already have sagging and don't want to end up with more.
Did you show your doctor a photo of what your eyes looked like before to try to replicate it?
Have you considered getting a revision blepharoplasy-maybe if your eyes were back to their natural shape it wold balance out more the cheek area/make it look more feminine?
Unfortunately,so many plastic surgeons lack good aesthetic eye.
