Surgery is set for the end of the week! I am excited and will definitely keep everyone updated.
This has been a long journey for me to finally decide on a surgeon and have the courage to go through with this procedure. I've been eyeing it for so long that it feels almost unreal that it's happening in less than one week.
Being in the health industry, I did a lot of research before booking the surgery. Of course, being in the health industry, I'm extra paranoid so I read all the articles on complications, risks, etc. I brought this up with Dr. Dass at my first consultation, and I really appreciated that he was very honest about the risks instead of brushing them off as another plastic surgeon I had consulted with had done. I also think it's very important to research your surgeon. This means making sure they're board certified in PS. This means looking through the Medical Board of California and making sure they have a clean record.
The previous surgeon I had considered, although he had great results/photos and is pretty big in the BBL community, had multiple malpractice suits (including for patient deaths) against himself and his anesthesiologist. This terrified me, as it should anyone going for elective surgery. Bottom line - do your research. Dr. Dass has a clean record, has clearly performed hundreds of these procedures with consistently good results, and most important for my decision making - he was very honest about expectations yet still confident in the results he could provide. I'm very excited to see how things turn out :)

Hi everyone! Surgery was last night. I made it! Overall, everything well very smoothly. I arrived at the surgery center in the evening and the staff got me all ready for surgery. As it was the Friday before Christmas weekend, the place was pretty empty and I was the only patient there. The nurse was a bit of a spaz and had to stick me a bunch of times to get an IV going and was also making comments to other staff members about how she was sleepy/yawning and didn't think she could make it through the case which I found unprofessional as I was literally on the other side of the curtain and could hear everything... But otherwise the pre-op was uneventful. I met the anesthesiologist who was very nice and explained her part in detail. I also talked to Dr. Dass who did the markings and reiterated some instructions that he had gone over during my preop appt. Then I remember getting to the OR, talking to the anesthesiologist, and then absolutely nothing until I awoke on my stomach. Not going to lie. I was in a good amount of pain! Mainly in my abdomen despite the Fentanyl pushes. The garment is SO tight and uncomfortable at first. The same spastic nurse was all over the place again and when I asked her if she had called my friend yet who was picking me up, she said she couldn't until she finished charting so she could get out of there for the night. Who says that! Ugh. Anyway, I got wheelchaired out and lied on my stomach for the short ride home. I immediately starting taking the pain and anti emetic meds. Definitely helps me forget about the pain, but doesn't take it away completely. I laid out some chux on my bed and slept on my stomach. I woke up every 2ish hours to pee or to take more pain meds. Wasn't too terrible. Now I'm eating for the first time in >24 hours. Feels good. I'll post pics once I'm out of this garment tomorrow. Happy holidays!

Yes, the nurse was a weird one! She stabbed me on both hands and still couldn't start my IV. My sister picked me up and she said weird stuff to my sister as well. I'm seven weeks post-op and very happy with my result. Wish you a speedy recovery.

You look so good, My surgery with Dass is this Thurs, I'm so nervous and excited. I am thinking I need to tell him to go big, I have been saying be conservative in my consult and preop, but I know so much of the fat doesn't take, what did you tell him about size? Did you tell him big?

I ended up just showing him some photos off his web site in terms of what kind of outcome I wanted.

Ok, that is what I did too! I'm sure it will be fine, just nerves I think.
