I am about 1 year post op from getting a tummy tuck. Took me a looong time to write this review bc I was hesitant due to me being private, but I would like to help others out there that are deciding on getting this surgery done. I had 2 kids by c-section and due to the c-sections it messed up my stomach drastically. I was left with a saggy pooch and stretched skin that never went away even with diet and exercise.. all it did was make it smaller (sigh). I would hate too look at myself naked so I hardly ever did and when I did I would cry. When having sex with my boyfriend I would always leave a tank top covering my mid section bc I was so self conscious. It didn't matter how many times he would say he didn't care...I cared and I did not feel sexy whatsoever.
After years of hating my stomach and nothing working I decided to get a tummy tuck. I saved for years and it was the best decision I have ever made. Even as painful as it was I Would do it all over again as crazy as it may sound lol.
I've done extensive research and when I finally decided on a surgeon I called in for a consult asap. When I got to the office it was very clean, and the staff was superb. The wait was fast and when I got called in they brought me into a rm and had me undress into a gown.. when the doctor came in he had such a nice presence about him I automatically felt comfortable with him. He had a great smile, a pleasant voice and overall great personality. He asked what I knew about the procedure and I basically said everything, bc he didnt have to go into any details since I already knew lol. He then took a look at all my problem areas. He took my before photos from all angles. He explained that he was going to lipo my stomach as well as my flanks up to my bra strap area. I wasn't expecting all of that lipo so I was extremely ecstatic. He then asked if I had any more questions and then I got dressed and went into another room to get my quote. I booked my surgery date right then and there.
The day of surgery I wasn't nervous I was more excited than anything. I couldn't wait to get it done already. All the nurses and staff were so kind and they all told me I was in good hands as many of the nurses there also got a tt from the same surgeon so that was great to hear. Dr.brooks came in a short while after to mark me up and his voice again put me at ease .. (I Love his voice lol) it's so pleasant. After that was done all I remember was being wheeled in on a stretcher into the operating room and I was ko'd. I woke up in the recovery room and I was soooo dizzy no pain just very very dizzy. They gave me ice and juice. When it was time to get up I had to grab a hold of something for leverage bc I was so dizzy. You definitely need help after this procedure as moving is very minimal and hard to do without help. You will be hunched over like an old person for several days as ur stomach is soooo tight u cannot walk upstraight. If you have a recliner that would be perfect since you CANNOT sleep normal. I didn't have a recliner so I slept propped up on pillows. I had a huge back pillow with attached arm rests (got at bed bath and beyond) , neck pillow A MUST, and I had about 3 pillows right under my knees elevating my lower legs up...thats how i slept. (Fun times. .NOT!) LOL.
Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. Any questions pls ask. :)

Thanks hun :) I took 3 wks off of work..that's what he recommended. The first few days were tough.. you def need someone to help you. I needed help getting in and outta bed, walking, and help with having to use the bath (i was able to wipe myself) it was help with sitting and getting off the toilet. It was a little worse than a csection since you can't walk upright due to ur stomach being so tight. I was able to walk just very slowly. For me the first 4 days were the worse. You def need to purchase stool softners since the pain meds make a lot of ppl constipated. I took stool softners so I had no problems in that area. Drink lots of water, coconut water, pineapples. Stay away from fatty foods and sodium of course. Laughing and sneezing hurt the first wk or so. I had 2 drains and they were somewhat uncomfortable and annoying lol. It was a relief when they removed em a wk after. During your recovery you will get a zapping feeling here and there but that's normal due to ur nerves. After about a wk post op you will have to purchase a compression garment. I just purchased Spanx it was a tank.
Anything other questions I will be glad to answer.

In regards to the scar you can't apply anything for the first 2-3wks since you will have surgical tape on it.. Dr.brooks will also give you a little tube of scar treatment. I always read labels so I seen one of the ingredients was castor oil which made me happy bc I Love using oils. So after the tube was finished I just slathered on castor oil, almond oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil. It worked amazing bc my scar is very light and thin. I still till this day put oils on my scar. Pre op my weight was about 160 and now I'm 141 I'm 5'4".

I hate relying on people lol I have a 1.5 yr old and older kids who need a lot from me so I don't know if I should do Tt or just ba right now. Did you have to stay overnight in hospital? How long did it take to drive?

Any regrets

Oh trust me I totally understand I'm very independent and hate to rely on ppl as well but you need help for at least the 1st wk especially help with the kids. I didn't have to stay overnight I left home the very same day. I didn't drive at all during the 3 wks I took off since I was on pain meds. I always had somone drive me to my post op appointments. I made sure I had my fridge stocked and bought any supplies I needed so I wouldn't have to drive anywhere. I had family members pick up my children from school.

Surgical pads to put all around your tummy before putting on the wrap so you won't get creases on your tummy from the wrap, surgical tape (i bought extra) for your scar, large adhesive pads for your belly button, arnica gel and pills for bruising and muscle soreness, castor oil to apply on the scar when surgeon says it's ok to do so. I also used coconut oil, almond oil and grapeseed oil. Back pillow to sleep upright on your bed if you don't have a recliner, lots of pillow to put under your legs, and a neck pillow for while you sleep so you won't hurt your neck.

Arnica gel is something I'm still using 13 months after tt,lipo, bbl. It helps but only for a short period. I think I've purchased dozens of tubes of it. Cheapest place I've bought it is at Ingles grocery store. You can get coupons at their website. Another great thing after surgery is a "grabby stick." Keeps you from having to bend over to pick up dropped items!

Oh cool thanks for the info.. I'll definitely purchase one of those grabby sticks for my next surgery...I'm thinking of getting a bbl next yr hopefully. How's the bbl pain wise compared to a tt?

Wow..hard to explain. I've had a difficult recovery overall. Nothing major, but I had 2 cesarean births & an appendectomy 3 weeks after my 1st birth..I recovered well. Abdominoplasty is way more difficult than cesareans. 13 months post op tt, lipo & bbl it's all been a slow recovery for me.!! I love my results but still having lots of discomfort! Tightness still in my abdominoplasty/muscle repair, muscle aches in lipo, bbl that persists. May be due to my age?? I wish you a good quick recovery!!!

Oh wow you had all those procedures done at the same time... I can only imagine the discomfort. Everything will get better as the days go by..wish you the best. And thank you.

I have arnica gel and arnicare tablets I don't feel anything from gel did you how did it help how's u times did you apply it

That's kinda hard to answer since I used so many things at once.. I never used the gel alone..I always applied a combination of things along with the gel. I felt like the organic oils (almond oil, coconut oil, castor oil, grapeseed oil) helped more with scarring/bruising.
