Alright so after months of doing research and watching tons of videos and pictures night after night I have finally decided to book my appointment for the second week of August. I spoke to my surgeon on two separate occasions. The first consultation I had went in determined to get the lipo, but after much pondering and vigorous research I thought maybe a tummy tuck would give me the results I want. I went to see him again for the second time and he said he refuses to do a tummy tuck on me because he feels I don't need it. He is a pioneer in his career and has great credentials, but this is my first and hopefully the last time I resort to cosmetic surgery. I'm sure he has a better sense of judgment being that he has been doing this for over 20 years, but I am afraid that my body doesn't end up close to what I would feel content with. I just watched a documentary and the surgeon told a male client something that has lingered inside my head. She told him in other words that since his belly hangs she can't really predict whether he will have a flat stomach or not. My my belly hangs and I hope feel extremely unsatistfied and upset if my stomach doesn't shrink, hence why I thought a tummy tuck would assure better results that would exceed my expectations. That is my only concern and the only thing that makes me selfconcious. Can anyone please help!!!! I would like your opinion or if anyone has/had the same problem pre op. If so what were your results like??

I think you will get the results you are looking for without the tuck. I have seen larger areas of fat removed with great results. If you trust the surgeon I would go on his opinion. Best of luck
August 2, 2015
I've seen some pictures and video of people with similar body and the results were great- especially women, but my stomach is loose too and I feel once the fat is removed it won't retract and the skin will just stay there you know?
August 2, 2015
Maybe have another consultation with the surgeon. I would be the same as you and would hate to spend a lot of money to be lot with a lot of skin. You need to get another opinion maybe
August 2, 2015
That's true! I plan on meeting with him again this week. & I will do my best to get other consultations in this week during my days off. Hopefully I can have my mind set up before the day comes.
August 2, 2015
That's a good plan. I have a consultation for vaser on the sides this week. I am still very unsure about having any procedure at all. It's very scary
August 2, 2015
Yes it is. It took me years to finally go through with this. I will be getting vaser on my flanks and abdomen if not the tummy tuck.
August 3, 2015
I have been working out maybe not enough, my diet is not great at times. Don't eat regular enough. I have my fitting and bloods tmo I will make my final decision then I think. It's so 50/50 isn't it. I'm back and forth like a yoyo on a daily basis
August 3, 2015
Omg I am the same way!!! I going to do that either Wednesday or Friday. Let's see what happens. I'm excited, yet unsure.
August 3, 2015
Yes I'm the same. I keep thinking should I just stick the gym out and keep thinking of the downtime. I know that will kill me as I'm very active and hate just sitting there. I get so bored. Plus i keep thinking if something went wrong and I have my child and is it all for vanity. It's so hard. And yes I feel so unsure too. Keep me posted anyway. I am going to do a new post of the new clinic I am going too. Looking forward to asking more questions tomorrow. Good luck
August 3, 2015
Pat this point I am more then sure that the gym is not enough. I was 219 lbs before and lost weight quickly so my stomach just will not go anywhere no matter how clean I eat and how much I exercise. I just made another consultation with my surgeon for Monday August 10th (I ideally wanted to get the surgey on the 11th) so I guess that'll change too :-(. I really need reassurance I guess. He's telling one thing and doctors on here are telling me otherwise it's very confusing. Are you in the state of NY? I would like to see someone else, but with the little time I have I don't want to make any haste decisions.
August 4, 2015
My consultation went great today. I feel a lot better. He is a lovely doctor and has a good sense of humour which always puts me at ease. I got my bloods, measurements and check up done. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday if all the bloods come back good. I'm a little bit excited now.
August 5, 2015
Yay!!! I'm glad to hear that! Sounds like we're both on the same path. I actually started my pre-op Monday. I called them and I was able to get squeezed in before he left so everything is set. Just waiting on the day to come. They moved it to the 14th of August. :-( originally it was for the August 11th.
August 8, 2015
I went through similar consultations... I had 2 docs tell me yes for a skin only tt, and 1 doc say absolutely not that I only needed lipo. I was so confused but after much contemplation I know my body and I know I have a little loose skin from 35 lbs of weightloss but only on my lower abdomen. I did not want to pay all that money for lipo and then be left with even more saggy skin so I went with the doctor who made me feel the most comfortable and took the most time with me. I am going with lipo and skin only tummy tuck. I would def recommend seeing more than 1 doctor to form your decision
August 8, 2015
Thank you for sharing. However, I have already started my pre-op process and I feel that lipo will com out fine. & I am very active and workout so I feel like after the lipo is done the rest is on me. You know what I'm saying?
August 24, 2015
Hey, I went with vaser liposuction and the results seem pretty good. I'm still swollen, but it has been a huge difference. & I have no sign of sagging skin. So hopefully after the swelling goes down it'll look the same. Do you have any pics?

August 23, 2015
Dude I honestly think laser would be fine for you. My stomach did the same thing and now I'm flat as a board without loose skin. Check out my results. I'll be posting a one month soon

Hello there, I hope this helps. I was in your position over a year ago and decided for vaser of the full abdomen, chest and back, but i was around 220 lbs at the time. Much larger than you are now. You look like you're sitting around 195. I looked for ages to find the best surgeon I could. I went ahead with a 6 hour surgery and it came out looking different but the removal too conservative. I was still big. I was too big and should have waited and lost more weight first. After many months of recovery I had a large pot gut and flanks still hanging. My shape was essentially the same but just smaller. I decided to undergo some vigorous training and dieting for 4 months and dropped a lot of weight. My skin was loose but given I was so big before, it was a reasonable result. Flabby in the lower abdomen and flanks is a good way to describe how it looked, instead of wrinkly. But I still wanted to improve the contour and it was clear now that the first surgery had several shortcomings and was quite uneven. I opted to undergo a second full vaser surgery 12 months later with a different surgeon-and by looking at your photos- my skin was looser than yours and I was a little larger in the gut even after losing the weight. I'm now 2 weeks post surgery and in a lot of discomfort. Well, its not that bad but moreso than the first time. It was a hard job for the surgeon doing it the second time because of scar tissue below the surface. Try and get it right first time. My goal was never to get to the six pack look as Im not that body type. But I can tell you now that the hanging flanks and gut apron are gone. Yes, everything is bruised, swollen and very hard to touch right now, but I think after the hardness goes away my skin will come back reasonably. Maybe it won't end up flat but it won't have the fat weight under the skin dragging it down anymore. Im expecting a little sagging in the skin, provided the contour improves. The tight marena brand compression garment will be the key to keeping the skin sitting higher on my body and I hope after a few months the body can recontour itself and skin retract a little more. It now feels like I have to keep the skin pushed close to my new shape for ages for it to have a chance at staying like that. Time will tell, but I'm optimistic. The surgeon said he thought the skin went better than he hoped which is a good sign. I think his technique was a key factor too. I can see from the extra bruising that he has tried to really work the undersurface of the skin to help it retract a little more than usual. Slightly damaging the under layers essentially to give it something to re heal to. Its hard to describe, sorry. Getting back to your query, in my opinion you are most definitely NOT a candidate for a tummy tuck. My stomach is now flatter than yours but it was way larger before. I really had a large hanging apron there and big flabby flanks. I think the right surgeon can do this job well. It really comes down to finding the right person. In my opinion you should look at alfredo hoyos in columbia and then work down from there. He's the best and sets the bar for precision sculpting and aesthetic results. I chose someone in Thailand, a very experienced hi def surgeon who studied with him years ago. And he didn't go hi def on me which was great. But he had the right skill set to know what to do, and what NOT to do. Someone super experienced in hi def vaser is who i would be looking for. Why? because they have particular experience with smaller removals closer to the skin surface where precision is key. I wouldn't necessarily be opting for hi def vaser , but maybe mid def is more suitable to you. either ways the surgeon will know best.
In a nutshell, you'll get great results from Vaser if you choose one of the best in the business. Be vigilant with snug fitting compression as your surgeon recommends. A tummy tuck is another world of pain and scarring that I would avoid like the plague. Best of luck

Hey bro! Thank you so much for that!! After my second consultation with my doctor I did a lot of research and got a lot of feed back from doctors on here that were leaning more towards a tummy tuck. I was going crazy because my surgeon told me that he feels that I was do really great with liposuction and everyone else on here was telling me otherwise. I gave his office a call yesterday and I was able to get squeezed in for a quick consultation(third one). He went over my concerns and also went over my pictures he took during the first consultation and showed me what to expect. He says he is aggressive when it comes to tackling the fat which in my opinion is a good thing. He seems very skilled and I did lots of research in him. The pictures of his previous clients showed great results. His work is very clean and effective, but I'll have to wait and see how I turn out. I appreciate you sharing your story with me because now I am 100% that this is what I want to do. & like you I am not expecting 6-pack abs(if they appear that's a plus) but I am not too focused on that. I just want my stomach to be flatter and not over lap. I will definitely keep you up to date after I go through with the surgery.
How are you feeling/ looking so far?

Hey what's up. I went to Dr. Laurence Glickman at the Garden city Plastic Surgey center. He's very good at what he does and very certain. I'm actually going in for Surgey this Friday so I'll let you know how things go. I had 3 separate consultations with him because I was doubting myself and he was very nice every time and made me feel better by reassuring me.
August 12, 2015
Best of luck. I got mine done today. Feel tired and strange. Will update more later.
August 13, 2015
Ahhhhhh yay!!!! Congrats Hun, hope you get great results and heal pretty fast. Mine is tomorrow at 8am. Super excited and super ready. I will let you know how it goes.
August 13, 2015
You will be fine don't worry. I haven't even taken pain killers today. Just a little sore when moving and soo itchy haha. Lovely bruising already. Keep me posted
August 13, 2015
I sure hope so. & really? That's great! I hope it only gets better. I thought you'd be on heavy painkillers especially on the first day. Omg just one more day!!!
August 4, 2015
Hi Starstattoo, congrats on being less than a week pre op. From your photos, comments and from all the research I've seen on men's results and from my own results (Skin retraction from vaser has been awesome) you will have amazing results!! Good luck and I look forward to reading your journey :-)
August 4, 2015
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that, I have decided to go with vaser liposuction once and for all and hearing these words from you really has boosted me up. Yesterday I was going crazy and I was very uncertain by all the outside information I was getting by doctors on here. Luckily I was able to get squeezed in to see my surgeon for the third time(one can never be too sure) and he reassured me that I would be in good hands and helped me be more realistic on what to expect.
I will definitely share my experience with you. Can't wait!!! How are you feeling/looking so far??

Oh gosh! I can just imagine. The good things is that it'll be over soon. & I am so amped. I'm ready to do this. Very happy.
August 14, 2015
Hey starstattoo, glad I was of some help. I'm 3 weeks post op now and I have no more hanging belly or flanks. Its a huge difference in contour. There is a small wrinkly section on my lower abdomen which is way less than I expected. I wouldn't even say it feels or looks loose. Overall my skin feels more dense and thick now, as its not stretched over. Its still early days but I definitely feel like the surgeon was aggressive enough without going crazy. What he has done is removed more in areas above the hanging sections to lessen the weighing down of the skin, as well as the work on the lower abdomen. Clever of him as I didn't think i needed much removal higher up. His experience really shone through there. For the first time in many years there is a chance of losing this permanent muffin gut-i'm pretty stoked so far. My torso is still quite hard and swelling comes and goes depending on how much time I am upright in the day. The hardness I mentioned feels like a permanent ab crunch. And that is after nearly 3 weeks. But the bruising is gone so it kinda looks ok now. Theres still some bumpiness too which I feel will resolve as the swelling comes down more. They key to recovery and lessening swelling is the massages. Maybe wait a week post op and then try them. At first its job is to push the fluid away from the abdomen, around over the hips and down into the buttocks to dissipate it. Now the massages for me are about trying to smooth out the bumpiness a bit. I'm in thailand now so am getting hot herb compresses which are amazingly helpful. the steamed heat of the herb pack makes pushing the fluid away easier. also a light oil massage of the torso helps as well. Too much is counterproductive though. Once every other day should be fine. Less aggressive as the days go by so not to disrupt the healing underneath. But at the start you need some painful pushing out of the fluid to avoid seromas. Good luck with your surgery today!
August 14, 2015
Hey!!! I'm glad you're doing really well! Your message has given me so much hope man. I'm glad I went through with the vaser lipo. I'm home now. I don't feel bad. It's bearable, nothing too crazy. Hope it I recover quickly. Thank you for telling me know what to look out for. My first post op appointment is Wednesday the 19th, but doctor told me to take off garment and padding Sunday so that I can shower. I'm pretty excited. I will give you guys updated with pics hopefully next week.

Thanks for the kinds words starstattoo, its nice to know I've helped. Really happy you feel like you made the right decision surgery wise too. Do you know how much fat was removed? At a glance I'd say if they took around 2000 cc of fat out from your torso (not including the other fluid or blood) then you will be super happy. My second op was just under 2000 cc of fat removed and it made a big difference. A couple of questions for you...at the moment do you still have open drains leaking out of your waist, or are the entry points all closed up with stitches? My first op was fully closed which meant I had a lot of the anaesthetic fluid they pumped into me still there after they closed me up. It meant for less chance of infection but also meant that it would take longer for the swelling to go down as the fluid has to naturally absorb out of my body. I think the chance of infection is slim and prefer the open drains-albeit they're messy for a few days. The second surgery was a lot messier as the first 4 days I had open drains and was leaking bloody fluid into pads which were changed daily. The first 5 days I was just bound up tight with bandages and after 5 or so days I could wear the proper garment. Every surgeon is different in their technique but I wanted to give you an idea on whichever way it went. Either way, the first day or two the swelling is minimal, but after day 2 or 3 you're going to swell up a lot so get ready for it. I freaked out a bit myself but knowing what to expect the second time around helped me. After day 3 of the second op, I was way bigger than when I went into surgery-its a lot of swelling! What happens after a few days is the small blood vessels down there which got disrupted and basically forced to restrict their flow start to ramp up their normal function again. This makes the body send a lot of blood back into the area, and coupled with the trauma of the procedure itself, causes a lot of swelling quickly. This is what the surgeon told me. Another thing you'll start to feel a lot is a feeling similar to a tickle under the skin. It is the fluid moving around (especially on the sides when you are laying down). Part and parcel of the procedure. Its not painful but its kinda weird. For the first week I had anti inflammatory meds, paracetamol and an antibiotic. And I remember also having celebrex tabs for the pain too. The surgeon won't want to keep you on the meds for any longer than they have to as they affect the thickness of the blood. But after a week you should be fine. Enjoy a week of laying back doing nothing and watching movies. Oh yeah, keep an eye on your fat and carb intake for the first month or two. Your body will be trying to hang onto as much fat from the food as it can, and excess carbs will help the body store the fat. You don't have to go full diet or anything but I'd stick to the meat and leafy vegetables and salads as much as you can for a while. Same too with fruits and sugars, keep them in check. Good luck and holler if you need to ask anything
August 15, 2015
I was under general anesthesia and was unable to ask the doctor any questions. The nurse said he came in to check on me after the surgery, but I was still asleep and he had another surgery to go to. I plan on asking him on my first post-op check in, but he told the person that drove me there that everything went well and that I was going to be very happy with the results. He put stitches on the incisions and covered them up. He told me to take off the garment tomorrow(Sunday) and the cotton padding to that I am able to shower. Btw they you get a second stage garment or are you using the same you got post op? I feel like the one I have on now will not be tight enough after I remove the padding. & as far as eating. I've been eating smashed sweet potatoe, steak, corn, watermelon and lots of water. Yesterday I felt no pain whatsoever, but starting last night I feel the soreness when I get up.
August 15, 2015
Hey congrats. How are you feeling, how did everything go? It's been a long few days for me. Tomorrow I get to shower and to say I'm excited is an understatement haha. Never thought I'd be so excited to shower. Im healing quick. But still sore when moving positions no pain though. Have to Say I am bored I hate staying in. I'm going to walk the dog later and get my hair done to cheer me up. Well I'm dying to hear and see how you are doing.
August 15, 2015
Hey!!!! Everything went great!! Super excited. I got it done Friday at 8am. So tomorrow I get to take off the garment for a nice long shower lol. I am a bit nervous to see what it looks like. I'm actually feeling pretty good. I honestly thought it would be scruciating pain, but it's nothing. It's mostly soreness. I feel like I got a really good ab workout basically. My only real complaint is this nausea. I threw up once this morning. I might take some pictures tomorrow after the garment comes off.
P.S I haven't felt any itching or discomfort.

August 15, 2015
That's great. I knew you would feel ok. I was very surprised too. Over the next few days you may feel a bit more sore as the numbness wears off but it is not to bad. Just more when moving around. The itchiness is not so bad right now. I have already taking a few sneaky looks at mine lol but it's bruised and swollen so hard to tell.
Maybe the tablets are making you sick?? I suffer with reflux and said to the surgeon beforehand don't prescribe me define on its own so he gave me something to prevent nausea. Was so surprised I did not feel sick. What's bothering me today is I'm so hungry for carbs and only carbs lol. My body is crying out for it and I'm trying to resist. Can't wait to see your pictures ☺️☺️

Yeah I think so too! & it's overwhelming trying to take all these pills throughout the day. I can't help but feel that I am taking too much of it. I decided to just take the pain and antibiotics for now. I've been eating mashed sweet potatoes with egg whites. How long did you have to wear your garment before your first post op shower? & yes pictures will be coming up
August 16, 2015
4 days. I was only allowed change bandages when need be. So today is first proper shower day haha. I have my first check up this Wednesday and he said he will let me know how many hours per day I have to wear it. I have to also book my drainage massage. Right now I'm sore so I don't want anyone touching me.
Yes the medicine is a nightmare. I only took several of the pain killers but took all of my antibiotics and then I had to take some antihistamine for the itching so lots of tablets which is horrible. How are you feeling today yourself?

Omg I just got out the shower! I love my results!!! Well, apart from all the swelling, but my belly is flat! Yay!! It started to hurt a little so I had to put my compression garment on quickly. I didn't get to take any pics, but I will definitely take them when I go to my first post op appointment this Wednesday. I am so happy!
August 16, 2015
That is brilliant. I am so glad you are happy. Had my shower as well. Everything looks ok apart from the bruising and swelling. Not to sure how i look right now haha. Shower was awesome though.
August 16, 2015
It did feel amazing being able to shower. I felt so relieved. & I actually excepted a lot more bruising than I have.. I think in total I have like 4 different bruises. Vaser is definitely the way to go. Hey did you put just your garment or did you also have a foam pad under? Mine came with a foam pad so I threw away the cotton padding and kept the foam and the compression garment
August 16, 2015
I'm glad you feel good. I didn't need foam probably cause it was just the sides. I'm just back from a nice walk. Feel ok just a little tired though. You are lucky you don't have much bruising my sides are black and blue
August 17, 2015
Alright I see. It was just very uncomfortable because I put it wrong and it was creating pressure on my stomach, but someone helped me put it the right way here at home. Feel a lot better now. Yesterday I took a walk around my block, it was about time because I didn't see daylight in two days.

I got liposuction on my flanks and abdomen. this post is mostly to encourage those whom have not yet seen a doctor and are still trying to decided which procedure to get done. Most doctors on here said I needed a tummy tuck, meanwhile my surgeon said I will be just fine with li position. I listened to him and I am extremely happy!!! Your surgeon will be more likely to tell many things someone can not see through a picture. Like how likely your skin is retract, or how healthy it is, he'll be able to suggest other options based on your body type etc...

This is spot on. I mean half of the time you only hear the negative and listen to horror stories. It is best to go visit some surgeons and discuss it with them and once they are honest with expectations everything will be fine. I'm glad you are happy

Thanks! & yes I feel like we have to remain positive and look at the light at the end of the tunnel. That encourages other whom are still undecided.
