I have always struggled with my weight. I wasaalways the chubby one out of the group and as we grew older I just became the biggest one out of the group. Now that I'm married with beautiful children I still dont feel as happy as I should about myself. My weight is a constant thing with me. I tried it all and done it all and it falls off in pieces and returns in chunks. My husband loves me for who I am and does not want me to change. Im 4' 9" @ 186 lbs and used to beable to hind it well, but now not so well. I think this is the right tool that I need to help me make a better life for myself and in turn for my family. So in short just like mr Im ready to be sleeved!!! Let the journey begin......

Welcome and good luck with your surgery!

When do you begin your pre-op diet? Will it be full liquid?

I have to have clear liquids tomorrow and Sunday. So it's inky a two day liquid diet pre surgery so I guess today is that last day of solid foods for a while! So excited for Monday to get here.
April 26, 2014
I begin mine on May 8th and it will be a full liquid diet. I tried it out for a day and it wasn't too bad, but you know how that goes great today and want everything under the sun on the real days you have to diet. Lol But with strong intentions on sticking with it I know I will power on.

Monday is just around the corner and I'm excited for you! All will be well. Keep us posted and congrats on the next steps in your journey!

The liquid diet is tough, but you can do it! It' a means to an end and it will all be worth it. :-)

My surgery date was changed to 5/19. Have been on the preop liquid diet for about a week and a half. MAN, This is hard, but still trying. Looking for some surgery buddies to easy my nervousness and support.
May 14, 2014
You can do this. The liquid diet is the hardest part before and even after surgery. I still have 4 days to go and it doesn't seem to be getting that much easier. Please know I am here for you. Please read about my hospital stay, I am normally the patient who ask for pain meds until they won't give them to me anymore but that was not the case with this surgery. I have 6 port incisions 2 on the left side, 2 on the right side, one in the top middle of my stomach and one on the bottom middle. No stitches or staples instead my doctor used a glue on the outside. My girlfriend said it is so we don't end up with scares so here is to hoping she is right but if not they will just be a reminder of the new life I have chosen. Has your husband become more supportive? Best of luck and please feel free to contact me, I am here for you!

You are not lying when you say this is hard. I had my pre-op testing done today and my class on the sleeve. So im ready to go, if I can get treated for a uti that just seemed to pop out of nowhere before monday. I felt so up lifted when the nurse said sleevers can the eat next day after surgery. That was all I was dreamimg about at the moment. Lol How are your incisions doing? I thought it was going to be five? I agree, I will gladly take five or six small incisions than to remain with this weight. As for my husband, he is a supportive as much as he can be, ( he really is a sweetheart and tries to help me throught this) but as im sure you are finding out like the old saying goes if you are not walking or have not walked in my shoes you will not just quite understand. So I read in a comment that you were going back to work soon? How long have you been out and did you tell anyone at work you were going to be sleeved? For me not many know. My husband, one brother ( thats cause he lives down the block lol), a very close friend and only close one co-worker. I don't know, but for me I didnt feel that everyone needed to know, or maybe I dont really beleive i would get positive support at work ( some people just never have anything nice to say) how about you? Thanks again for reaching out to me and for all your support. It is very much appreciated. Talk to u soon!

Is that how much you paid 8 grand?

I was able to have my health insurance cover the cost of the surgery for me. But that was the going rate at the time.

My big day was Monday the 19th!!

shortandsleeved
I had my surgery on Monday and it started off with some difficulties. First I was poked eight times trying to get my IV in. My suggestion to all drink tons of water the day before. But onther then that everything was a blur into Tuesday. After a days rest and off the morphine I was able to walk and talk much better and was able to go home Tuesday night. I have a bite of bloating and discomfort but other than that Im doing well. Im thinking positive and looking forward to my healthy new life. Let's all keep moving forward! !!

I was so excited to read your review, I'm due to be sleeved on June 15th, postponed from May 10th, so reading other's experiences really help me and others. What is it about the 64oz of water that is hard?
June 5, 2014
Hi AllieGB, Once you have been sleeved you ha e to take in 64oz of liquids in any form; soups, water, shakes or protein juice. On the daily bases. For some it's eazy but Im almost three weeks out and still find it a bit hard to get it in. But I spoke to my doctor and he said slow and steady is the key. Lots of luck to you my dear and keep us posted!

The 64 oz of fluids is tough to get in. I feel like I am either drinking or eating! But it's only been four weeks and I know I will get it done eventually. I am so thankful that I have great insurance! I received the surgeons bill today and it was over $80,000! That is not a typo! Thank goodness my share is less than $180!
June 5, 2014
Wooow really!! Oh my stars yes your insurance is great!!! How are you doing? Have you started exercising yet? Im still drinking mostly with very little eating. Your weight lose is great, I thi k im at a three week stall and trying to walk more to get that nasty scale to move. Lol hope all is well and keep us posted.

I am feeling great. I have my six week checkup next Tuesday so I am looking forward to the weigh in. My clothes are so loose and tight tops are fitting now! So excited. I am eating my 60 grams of protein but the 64 oz are hard to get in. I am riding a bike and walking a lot more than ever before! Starting gym next week I hope.

Two weeks out!!

shortandsleeved
Wow I'm two weeks postop already. I still can't get enough liquids in about 20oz on a good day thats with water, soups and shakes. I also have a half a yogurt. I spoke to my dr. And he said that it is fine; in time I will get the 64 down. As long as I try to increase an oz a day it is ok. I'm a bit sad because I thought I was going g to lose weight a bit fasted then I have been doing. I only lost a few lbs since being sleeved, but again its only been two weeks and I can only walk as a form of exercise. So I have started to increased that a bit. Other then that I'm happy and feeling good. My clothes are becoming a bit lose and I smile everytime I have to adjust them. I went out with my family to eat and sipped on my propel water while everyone had burgers and fries. When some members noticed and asked why i was not eating; my brother and sister laughed and said she is on a see food diet. So I told them all I was sleeved as I worried they would say negative comments, but they smiled and made funny jokes about it and was very happy for me.
No negativity, just was happy that I was happy with my decision, supportive and moved on. Lol one cousin wanted to know how that was going to affect him when he comes to my house. My husband said "oh your out of luck now buddy she does not cook all that food anymore so no leftovers. Lol im blessed and so happy that I choosed to be sleeved! But if people can tell me how they have been losing the weigh, please I would be grateful to hesr some suggestions or advice! Any tips or tricks ???
