Happy New Year! Where's my pasta?

So. Here I am. 2 weeks out. Currently weighing in at 218. 10 pounds down since surgery. My hip pain went away! I had that irksome pain for over 8 months. I used to have to get up and pee before I went to bed, after I laid down to read and then once again when my bladder relaxed. What a pain in the urethra. For the past week, I have not done the last two trips. Ahhh-mazing. Already feeling better my friends. As far as eating, I made an awesome ricotta bake, egg drop soup, and some pureed pot roast. It was bangin'. My tummy feels fine. Still having trouble swallowing pills, but I will work that out. My longing for pasta has decreased, but not vanished, mind you. Went to the gym and walked a mile today. I'll try harder tomorrow to get into a groove with that. Onwards, potential and current sleevers!

So glad things are going well for you! I get sleeved January 25th and I have my procedure and recovery go as smoothly as yours. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
Thanks! It's an adjustment, for sure. Like my Dr. Kept saying, "it's a tool, not a cure."
Have you tried soy pasta? It's called edemame spaghetti and you can get it at Costco, but I ordered mine from Amazon. 26g of protein in a 2oz serving.

Hey there! It's been a year since you had your procedure. How's it going now? We'd love to hear from you again :)

Making it Rain!

I'm making protein powder rain like dollar bills at a strip club! I'm putting it in everything. Today I had weight control banana bread oatmeal with a protein soup added. only ate half the serving packet. Had 2 GNC 25 Lean Shakes. (meal replacement opposed to straight up protein powder.) I had a soft scrambled egg. I pit a little dab of ketchup (no high fructose corn syrup) cause I do my eggs like that, yo! It was just a squirt. Then there was a sugar free popsicle and water...lots of water. I can't wait to get more creative. Hopefully, I'll get cleared for all soft foods Tuesday at my first follow-up appointment. Big thing tomorrow though: BACK TO WORK!

Are you ready to go back to work? I am planning to go back a week after surgery as well. I am just unsure how I will feel. I've heard that the pain isn't too bad but it's hard when you're trying to get used to your new stomach.
I was fine! I got annoyed with my pants rubbing against my belly button wound, but I had a shake for breakfast, greek yogurt mid day and then a shake towards the end. (I drank that second shake really slow because I was just too full.) Then I came home, took a short nap and woke up an hour before I had to teach my night class. I made a scrambled egg and brought water along to work. THEN I went to Target to pick up more vitamin water zero, yogurt and Palmer's lotion. Also, I decided to get some eczema cream cause my tummy is itchy. (Healing, I guess) So, to answer your question, (finally) I believe it depends on what you do for a living and how fast of a healer you are. You will know...but be good to yourself. The pain might not get you, but BEWARE of exhaustion!
You are too funny!

And it has been DONE!

December 14 was my surgery date. Here's how it went down:
I got to the hospital at 12:45pm. They brought me into the surgery preproom. One good thing about being a bariatric patient is that the towns fit , so you don't feel like your ass is hanging out for the world to see. They weighed me; I was 228, which was down from 242. Then the meanest man in the world tried to get my IV going SEVEN times. I freaked the hell out. That is one thing I could never stand, even when I had my girls. I get sweaty, nauseous, and can't calm down. Well, this time you can add crying hysterically. I would rather have given birth again than function as a human pin cushion!! They have me a sedative, and next thing I know I was entering the operating room. They asked me to slide over to the operating table, and it was cold. That, my friends, is the last thing I remember until waking up in recovery. Mission accomplished! Pain? Well, I was sore. I was able to have the procedure done with one incision! That made it less to care for afterwards. I did my swallow test in the morning , and that went well. On to water...6 ounces. Wait...then either jello or ensure. I went with the ensure. Some of that to make sure I could get it and keep down. Some more water and...poof! I was cleared for discharge at 2pm December 15. One day in the hospital and then I returned to the comfort of my own home. I'll write more another time, but this morning I weighed in at 223. I'm less than I was when I met my husband 15 years ago (and there were 2 little ones born in there too)

besides the fiasco with the needle, seems to have gone very smooth. happy for you! on to a healthier life with more energy! I know I'm looking forward to that.
Yeah that was the only thing so far. LoL I had a soft scrambled egg today and half a serving of weight control banana bread oatmeal with a scoop of flavorless protein powder. I had a greek yogurt that pretend to be apple pie and it was successful at it. :)
lol. good work!
