Plastic surgery is something I never thought I'd...

Plastic surgery is something I never thought I'd consider. However, after my youngest of 3 turned 4 years old, and I was 2 years removed from nursing, that changed. My breasts became completely deflated to the point that I felt deformed. I'm fit and active and take pride in my appearance. I also consider myself a feminist and wanted so much to not only accept, but embrace, my post-baby body, but it truly began to affect my life negatively. I began having to think about the clothes I could wear, looking for items that could camouflage my chest. I never wanted anyone, even my husband, to see my naked; I didn't even like to look at myself. I decided to go to some consultations and, suddenly the concept of having surgery became real. I consulted with 4 doctors, all different price ranges and practices. I narrowed it down to the two who made me feel most comfortable, who were easiest to talk to, and whose recommendations made the most sense according to my research and the other doctors I spoke with. From there I chose Dr. Desai with Doctors Plastic Surgery in Long Island City, NYC. After consult and research, I went with 400cc Mentor Memory Gel on both sides. My surgery went well and the entire team was professional and skilled. Although, frightened, I felt secure and safe. Breast surgery is no joke, and recovery was not easy, particularly the first few days, but from my research (and I did a lot), I would say my recovery went smoothly and rather quickly, as compared to some others. My breasts looked pretty good right from the beginning and there were no complications. As each week passed, they looked better and better, and my mobility slowly returned. Sometimes it felt as though it would never happen, but here I am, just past my 5 month mark, and I'm back to running and yoga (with a few modifications), and my breasts look great! The scars are still visible, but getting better, and I still have some numbness, but those things feel minor. I feel so good getting dressed and wearing bathing suits again. The size is perfect and they truly feel like they are a part of me. I actually rarely even think of them anymore. It was a difficult decision and the process was long and hard at times, but I can truly say I'm happy I did it and would do it again.

I chose Dr. Desai after consulting with 4 plastic surgeons in total, all different types of practices and price ranges. I immediately narrowed my decision down to Dr. Desai and one other doctor, and then ultimately chose Dr. Desai due to feeling confident in his plan for me, his skills, and willingness to listen to my concerns/needs. The lower price (it was the lowest of all 4) was also an added benefit but, honestly, it was not a deciding factor. Dr. Desai offered his suggestions at to what will get me the results I was looking for and, for the most part, I agreed. My only concern was the size, as I was afraid to be too big; he recommended 450's and was leaning more towards 400's. We ultimately went with the 400's and it was the right choice! The day of surgery, Dr. Desai was relaxed and more than willing to listen to any last-minute concerns. Surgery went well and recovery, although, not easy, was smooth. Any questions or concerns I had (there were a couple), Dr. Desai responded to quickly, with either a call or email. I am not over 5 months post op and am so very happy with my results. My breasts are beautiful. Dr. Desai is truly skilled. I also feel great and am back to running and yoga (with a few modifications). I really hardly think of the fact that I have implants anymore. Doctors Plastic Surgery is very professional, friendly, clean, and orderly. The staff there is wonderful. I felt comfortable and cared for. However, they do a high-volume of surgeries, so it is a bit like a factory. Consults are short (although, again, Dr. Desai did not make me feel rushed and was completely engaged), and there are few. I was ushered out immediately upon waking from surgery, which was a bit difficult. There are a few less follow-up appointments than at some of the fancier places (which was ok with me, as I felt it was sufficient). This was all fine with me, as I didn't need too much hand-holding. I feel very happy with my decision to go with Dr. Desai and am extremely pleased with my results.
