Hi ladies, I've been researching this procedure...

Hi ladies,
I've been researching this procedure on this site for a while now and found the reviews extremely valuable so I thought I would write down my impressions after having it done myself.
As a background I have had lip fillers for a couple of years because I was unhappy with the volume of my upper lip but recently I realised that what was bothering me was the distance between my nose and upper lip as well which I believe is also accentuated by a heavier lip caused by fillers.
We took off 5 mm and the initial distance was 18. I now have some tooth show and the distance is more aesthetically pleasing. My nose is ever so slightly modified( nostrils and columella slightly pulled down but because my doctor cut under my rather defined sills the change is not bothering me)

your results are amazing! i have my surgery scheduled for the 15th of july and im having mixed emotions, i had a rhinoplasty done about 6 months ago and would hate if this lip lift changes the shape of my nostrils or make them wider/bigger. did your doctor say that your columella and nostrils being pulled down is temporary or permanent? thanks!

Thank you!
When I mentioned about the minor nose change at my 1 week post surgery appointment she was of the opinion that in time the nose will heal closer to its original shape but as I've mentioned the change is minor and strangely I like my nose now being at a bit of an angle.
I would say it's important to request that the incision is not made too far inside the nostrils as this is what increases the risk of distortion in my opinion.
The best of luck, hope you get the results you are looking for!

Looks amazing!! Do you have fillers in these pictures as well? Are any before pictures posted?

Thank you!
Yes I still have fillers at this point. I've had them done in Feb and the surgery happened end of May and they do take several months to be absorbed.
Yes the first pic is the before one ( my mouth is not relaxed there but if it were there would be no tooth show).

Would you say this procedure has rolled your lip out, like more of the red part of lip is now showing, making your lips look fuller, as well as decreasing the distance, and giving more tooth show? I have this procedure scheduled in a week, I want to decrease the distance from nose to lips, but also want a rolling out effect so that more red lip shows and the lip looks a little thicker, is this your experience?

Yes I would say the red part of the lip is incresead but with the number of mm I had removed the effect was not that obvious. I would still rely on fillers to get volume.
The best of luck to you!

She agreed that this technique (cutting into sills) wouldn't apply well to me since mine are defined (other people don't have that border that makes up the floor of the nostril).
You can have a look at the thread below where people discuss in depth the effects of cutting into sills especially if your nose is at a straight or upwards angle - if the sills are reduced it creates a cavernous effect i.e. Your nostrils become bigger and that's not something that you are going for in my opinion.

Good luck with this hun!
This is why I am very thankful to this forum where people have shared the potential risks that come with this procedure to help others who are considering doing it themselves.
PS I still think that overall your results are good and you have a very nice smile. We tend to be very harsh with ourselves and focus too hard on imperfections rather than the good features
Just to clarify- did you ask Dr. Mills not to cut the sill but, she did anyways?
I'm still unsure if I'm okay with a scar or if the lip lift can perk the lip up from the side view. The frontals look great though for most lip lifts though but the side views always seem lacking.
