Hi Everyone, I had the largest Permalip implant...

Hi Everyone,

I had the largest Permalip implant inserted into my upper lip in June. It was a very good Dr in London, I had no complications, the main swelling was for 3 days, then I went on holiday 11 days later and it was looking very nice.

However, after a few months all the swelling subsided and I was not happy. The lips hardly looked much bigger than to begin with, but that wasn't my main concern as I wanted a natural result anyway, the main problem was that there was an obvious ridge/mound about 5mm outside the red border of the lip on each side of the lips. Across the centre top of the lip, where the cupid's bow is, the volume sits inside the lip border, then it protrudes out either side of the lips coming down towards the corners. I hope that makes sense. This made an obvious shadow in certain lights and distorted my appearance. The Dr was great and listened to my concerns and I went back in to have the sides of the implant tapered thinner to see if that helped. At first I thought that it did, but sadly, again, that was swelling and it still looks the same. It seems that the swelling on the skin area outside of the lip disguises these mounds. I am very fussy though, I work in the modelling industry and I do over analyse, so maybe some people would not see this as bad, but I hate it.

Before Permalip I used to use lip liner to draw my top lip higher, particularly in the centre at the cupid's bow. For me, Permalip didn't increase the height, red show, of the top lip, my lips look quite similar front on (except for the mounds), Permalip only really increased the volume of my lips if looking from side on.

This, coupled with the fact that I really hate the way that they feel, you can feel them, they are not soft like lips, has made me consider removal and an alternative procedure, a lip lift.

Has anyone had their lip implant removed? I am so scared that my lips won't look the same as when they were natural! :,(

Also has anyone had a lip lift? I have been doing research and it seems that no one does the gullwing lift anymore, due to scarring (where they make the incision along the vermillion boarder of the lip, remove the skin above and stretch the lip up) it seemed like this could be a very good way to increase the red height of the top lip. It seems that most people do the incision under the nose, has anyone had this bull horn lift? I have looked at some B&As which look great, but I have noticed that often the nose looks different after? Or is that me being crazy? Does a lip lift definitely increase the height of the red part of the lip, I know that it makes it sit higher on your face, which is not a bad thing, as I think my top lip is quite long and would prob give me more of that look that I created with lip liner, but if I measured from the wet dry boarder to the Cupid's bow, would it be bigger, or would it be the same, just sitting heigher with more tooth show?

Hope this helps and many thanks for any advice
