55 Years, Looking Tired and Old !!! Hated Mirrors and Photos - London GB

WORTH IT
I have always looked younger than my age up until the last couple of years. I have good genes to thank for that but recovering from a serious illness, divorce and being a single mum to a 14yr old has taken its toll on my face. Days that start at 500am and working full time again hasn't helped either. I consulted a number of surgeons before meeting Dominic. Two only suggested general anesthetic, one even saying he would try just sedation but had never done it that way before. Yikes!!! So after seeing 4 surgeons I still wasn't convinced they could do what I was wanting or needing. That all changed when I finally met Dominic and Lucy. He was so approachable and kind and suggested what he thought would give me the best results. That being a full lower face lift, neck lift and plastyma for my turkey neck.

January 31, 2015
Thank you gaillarde yes photos taken the morning after my surgery. Will get bruising and some swelling in the next day or two but still not too bad on day 2 post op. Plenty of ice and rest for a few days should see me through the worst of it.
January 31, 2015
One day post omg where can I get a ticket to London? You look fantastic.
January 31, 2015

February 1, 2015
Hi Amanda thanks. I'm so glad you are so well too. I'm thrilled to pieces, as you know Mr Bray is a genius we are so lucky to have found him!!!! I'm on the dreaded day 3 post op today a bit sore and swollen but hoping it might get a bit better from the next day or two. I am enjoying my rest are you out and about showing off the new you yet?? Xx

No not yet, I will be soon though. I am so thrilled with my new look. I have been out into town just shopping and people have not noticed but they have said, your looking really good. Just the sort of response I wanted.
February 1, 2015
You look amazing. I go for a short scar face lift in 5 days and I am very very scared. I hope I have a great result like you.
February 1, 2015
Hi peaceheart. Nerves are just normal. The first few days are the worst but you will be ok. I was very scared too a few tears even as the op started but it's something that soon passes. Remember lots of rest after to let your body heal. Take care let me know how you're going along the way any questions no matter how silly just ask xx
February 7, 2015
Hello Arianne99. I had my lift on the 5th February. I just took the bandages off for my first shower and OMG!!!!!! My face is very swollen, which I expected BUT both sides have been pulled SO taunt upwards to the ear, I AM JUST SICK!!!! I am sure this is not normal. I am crying my head off.
February 7, 2015
Oh peaceheart you're only 2 days post op of course it's pulled so tight don't worry. There will be swelling there which makes it worse so please please please don't be upset. Ice lots of ice on the neck either side just in front of your ears this will cool the blood flow to the face and help the swelling. Keep upright and keep icing. Everyone swells and bruises differently and remember days 2 to 4 are the worst for swelling so try and get through the next few days. Can you call your surgeon I'm sure he will also reassure you. I think I look like a chipmunk when I looked on the mirror but wasn't as bad as what I was seeing. Please try and rest, lots of ice and take paracetamol for the pain if needed. I'll be thinking of you [RS bleep]
February 8, 2015
Thank you ever so much. You have made me feel better. I am praying things get better.
February 8, 2015
Peace hart I had my lift on Thursday too and I Ali's look horribly swollen. But I have encased myself in ice and I know it will get better - we were told these would be the bad days so don't worry. I think it's very hard to stay calm when you are exhausted too and I was very low yesterday morning. Dominic has not messed up yet (I assume you had your lift with Dominic) and he won't mess up with you. Don't look in the mirror until tomorrow night if you can help it! X
February 8, 2015
No, I did not have Dominic. I wish I had though. I am in Texas. How often are you icing and are you just using frozen peas or something more elaborate?
February 8, 2015
Hi again frozen peas are fine we also used those plastic zip lock plastic lunch or freezer bags filled with I've cubes. I pretty much iced all the time for the first 3 days just giving a half hour between ice sessions. Don't put the plastic straight against skin put a thin cloth between the skin and bag which will stop skin getting damaged. So get 6 small bags of peas that way you can have 2 on your neck while the others are re freezing again and just rotate through them. I had a long light scarf which I had under my chin and tues in too of my head and then slipped the bags of ice in against my neck and cheeks on each side. Worked a treat. Nothing fancy just good old cold and ice xxxx hope that helps xx
February 8, 2015
Yes, I am doing exactly as Arianne says too - started with ice cubes but now I'm on peas, which I keep refreezing. Keep them permanently strapped to you ! Hope you are feeling less swollen by tonight x
February 9, 2015
How are you doing Peaceheart? Is the swelling going down? I still look like a chipmunk, but a slimmer faced one this morning. It's impossible to sleep but I'm sure it will all be worth it. How u doing? Hope the icing is helping ?
February 9, 2015
Good morning, Alirox. It is 6am right now and I am almost afraid to look. I am glad to hear that our swelling is going down.
February 9, 2015
Sorry, glad to hear that your swelling is going down. Yesterday, I noticed that I have a over pulled look. I am so worried that this is not going to go away. Are you still icing and how is your pain level? Do you still have to take meds?
February 9, 2015
I'm only going to ice re 3 /4 times today - still have lot of swelling in my neck and cheeks but chin is great! I look over pulled too but sure this will relax as the swelling eases. Keep reminding myself it's only day 4! I bet this time in a week we will just have a few bruises . Hang in there. Honestly, I am terrified too but we have to have faith it will be fine and I'm pretty confident it will
February 9, 2015
I really really hope so, Alirox. If I can figure out how to post a photo, I will take one to show you where I am at.
February 9, 2015
Yes do and I'll do the same - i'll message you when I'm Back from my walk
February 11, 2015
Hello, Alirox. How are you doing. I semt photos to my surgeon and he said that it was normal. I go in to see him tomorrow. How are you feeling Alirox?
February 11, 2015
Hi there, I'm ok. Getting there - swollen too but I also saw my surgeon yesterday and he said all is well. Another week and the swelling should have gone. Let me know how you get on . I messaged you to your inbox
February 1, 2015
Wow! Dominic is a genius
February 1, 2015
Yes he is. Thank you
February 1, 2015
I go for my procedure with Dominic next week and am very excited now!
February 1, 2015
Just stick to the good food and get lots of rest. I'm going to get my stitches out next Friday so I may see you in the morning when you go in for your post op catch up xx any questions just ask xx you are in extremely safe hands so no need to worry xx

Beautiful profile - you must be thrilled.
February 3, 2015
Yes I'm thrilled to bits so far still a lot of swelling but I wouldn't wear my hair up or wear a necklace before because of my sagging neck - can't believe the difference xx

Great results, Dominic Bray is really excellent, he seems to really stand out out amongst the UK surgeons - I've had experience of one of the less pleasant ones.
February 3, 2015
I'm sorry to hear you've had a bad experience :-( yes Dominic Bray is exceptional at what he does xx
February 3, 2015
What type of anesthesia did you have?
February 3, 2015
Just local and sedation, no general much better recovery time. Didn't feel a thing and was happy and comfortable the whole time surgery about 3 hours

I hope you are recovering well lovely, I am 20 days post OP now and all is going swimmingly, I would love to see your pics. How are you feeling?
February 7, 2015
Hi Amanda 7 days and feeling great. Still very swollen in front of ears and numbness but slowly getting back to normal. I have to remember this is a full operation with a long healing period even though the results are almost instant. As Dominic says it's a marathon not a sprint. Your latest pics are amazing by the way xx
February 5, 2015
Hi Arianne you must be so happy with that everything has turned out so well. I've an appointment with Dr Bray in March and planning a face and neck lift in April. I'm not sure if I should travel home (Its a 6 hour journey and 2 trains) or stay in London till the stitches come out a week later. My main concern is will I look presentable enough and feel well enough to travel the day after surgery. What do you think?
February 6, 2015
I've just had surgery with Dominic today and is say you definitely shouldn't travel home on day of surgery. You could get home the day after but you will feel conspicuous . I'm not planning in going anywhere in public ie ina train for a week, mostly because I'm worried I will see someone go knows me . The surgery went well I think ( tricky to tell since I'm in bandages), but Dominic and his team have been fantastic and the glimpse I had post surgery looked great , just swollen as expected
February 6, 2015
Hi so glad all went well. Can't wait to hear about your results xx
February 6, 2015
Hi it would be a best if you could stay closer for a few days. I know you can take the support off for a couple of hours and you can use a scarf and hair to cover most so people won't notice xx I was fine the day after on the train but it was a long long day for me too and I was very tired at the end if it xxxx
February 6, 2015
ThanksArianne
February 6, 2015
Oops pressed send to early. I also so terribly - barely an hour and feel sore today but nothing that Paracetemol won't sort out. I've never been able to sleep on my back so the next few days of sleep (or lack of) are going to be very challenging . I haven't looked at my face this morning but my husband tells me it's looking good! Xx
February 6, 2015
Slept terribly not "also so terribly" - I can't see what I'm typing!
February 6, 2015
Don't worry about your face today it will look quite good try and rest whenever you can. It's tough with poor sleep but well worth it. Let your husband look after you and take it slowly xx I'm on train now back to London to get some stitches out this morning. Get dominic to send you some before and after photos today they will keep you going over the next few days just seeing how much better you will look !!! Helped me through the bad days xxxx
February 6, 2015
Thanks Arianne, I'll do that. And good luck with your stitches - I hear it doesn't hurt at all so you'll be fine . [RS bleep]
February 6, 2015
Thanks Alirox thats helpful, like you I'm worried I see someone I know. I will be on my own as I've not told anyone, but would prefer to avoid travelling on the train till at least I can cover any bruises. So glad you're happy with the results, and thank you for getting back to me, and on the day of your surgery, I'm impressed. Take care and let me know how things are x
February 7, 2015
Ali I've sent you a private message you should be able to see it on your profile page. Hope you're ok [RS bleep]
February 7, 2015
Ali check your in box xx
April 11, 2015
Hi Alirox sorry I didn't get back to you, somehow missed your message. I'm having surgery Thursday this week, and looking forward to it, a bit nervous but that's to be expected. I'm booked to travel home on the Saturday but will travel with big scarf and sunglasses :-) I'm not looking forward to the journey but will be glad to get home......like you I'm worried I'm meet someone I know. How are you 5 weeks on?

Thanks I'm really happy xx
February 7, 2015
Adrianne you must be over the moon, you look incredible. I have to say that you looked lovely before but there's no doubt that you look younger and refreshed. I can't wait for April!!
February 7, 2015
Hi ladybird yes I'm so happy with result so far. April will be here before you know it. Are you having eyes and brow done ?? I have done this all alone too. No one knows and I travelled alone so don't worry you will be fine. Lucy will send you a diet do and don't for the weeks before your surgery try and follow that the best you can as that helps with swelling and bruising. Dominic and his team are with you every step of the way. In constant daily contact the days after surgery and always at hand for any questions no matter how silly they may seem. They've heard them all.
February 7, 2015
Hi Arianne yes I would like my eyes done too, but I wonder if it's best to do it in stages. I have a small brow so likely won't be suitable for brow lift. I've got a shopping list of things I'd like done lol, but will do it bit by bit. Did you travel home the day after surgery? I'm thinking of staying in London for the week or close by...don't want to risk bumping into someone I know on the train home.
February 7, 2015
I travelled home the day after by train alone. I then went into hiding until day 5 not seeing one person lol I didn't have eyes done so that wasn't needed to be covered up I could cover my ears and neck with my hair and a scarf and nobody has noticed. If you can stay close to London until your stitches are out on day 7 that would be ideal no chance if bumping into nosey friends or people you know ha ha
February 8, 2015
Hi Arianne that's so reassuring, I live in a small town and it would be round in 5 minutes if I met someone! Such a shame that we have to hide in this day and age. Look after yourself and its so good to follow your progress.
October 31, 2015
Arianne, I am so impressed that you did this all alone. My husband is the only one that knows I am going to have surgery and he will have to be by my side for the first 2 or 3 days. I am not as brave as you. I think you look fabulous and I am hoping that my jawline is as good as yours after, thanks for your posts xx
October 31, 2015
Hi again Nancy thanks for your lovely comments - I still have only told one or two people - everyone just thinks I'm good with skincare and makeup - I am so thankful I have been able to get my face back after I thought I never would. You won't be sorry so don't worry you will wish you did it earlier cx
February 7, 2015
You look stunning! I'd tell you to do a cartwheel but you probably shouldn't put your head down. LOL
