Hi everyone, just wanted to share my experience from the Earfold procedure as I thought there wasn't much information around when I was researching.
I have been very unhappy about my ears for as long as I can remember and my left ear was worse than the right one (the right one I could live with but I constantly had to wear my hair to hide the left one). I didn't want to go for traditional otoplasty as I could not wear bandages at all since I didn't want anyone to know I've had something done. No one except my parents has ever seen my ears so no one will notice when I finally wear my hair up.
I decided to have both ears done to make them as symmetrical as possible. It's day 8 post procedure and I am happy with the outcome. I had it done at the Royal London free hospital with Dr Greg O'Toole. The whole procedure took about 1h of which 45min were spent trying out the implants, however I wasn't 100% satisfied but thought lets go with it, nothing can be worse than before! Anaesthetic injections hurt less than expected and after that I couldn't feel anything although it was slightly scary to hear the cutting of the skin even if I couldn't feel it.
After 15min both ears were done and I was thrilled with the result, much better than during the consultation (see pic 3h post-op). I took pain killers after c 6h when anaesthetic wore off and slept on a travel pillow. The day after I went to work as usual. Only had to take painkillers for the second night. Bruising started heavily on the same day and was the worst on day 3 after which it started clearing up from day 4. It still hasn't cleared up on day 8 but getting there. Stitches are supposed to fall out on day 10-14 approx.
Hopefully in another week I finally get to wear my hair up in public for the very first time. Highly recommend this procedure!

I wanted to know whether it disturbs your sleep now it’s all healed? Can you feel it in the ear? Thanks :)
thanks for sharing your review , it is great to read about others experiences and see the wonderful outcomes, your post op pictures are wonderful, it looks really natural and fab to see you returned to normal life so soon after, enjoy your new hairstyles and ears! it is hard to understand how much it means unless you have been through it so I very much empathise with you! such a great feeling and relief to get it done isn't it. I am also so, so glad I went for it and would highly recommend it too . it really isn't as bad as you worry it will be!
