Hello! Firstly - i've been so pleasantly surprised by the warmth, openness and genuine desire to help on this website; it's been a really heart-warming experience so far and so I wanna say a big thank you to all the lovely ladies who are brave and honest on here as each of you help make this process for us BoobieNewbies a little less scary and a little bit more informed!

In the spirit of this I feel it's only right that I should open up and post a review too. So here goes......

I'm (almost) 35, like many here I used to like my boobs - small, perky, nice shape and width (and yes i definitely would have loooooved bigger boobs many a time but I saw the benefits of my little ones and they fitted my frame etc..). Fast-forward a few years and two breast-fed babies and i don't love them so much. They're fine, but I want more than 'fine' :)

Stats:
5ft6
110 lbs approx
27.5 inches band width under boobs
BWD 11-12 (but I could be measuring wrong...), surgeon says we need to only consider implants with base width 10.5-11.5 max.
Bony chest, visible ribs, hollow between breasts.
Currently I am guessing 32A

What I want:
I love a natural slope to the boob and i'm not a fan of a full upper pole (can look great on some women but i have such a bony chest I fear would look too odd on me), i like lower pole fullness, i do like a rounded shape to the sides (if that makes sense) and i like it if the curve of the boob swells just outside of the ribs to the side.

Please check out my wishboobs.. i have TONS! that is the edit (of the edit....). I sadly think that most are too big so I think I've really got to work on my expectations as otherwise i'm going to be so disappointed after the op.

I've had a few consultations with my surgeon but tbh still feel confused what to go for (have one more tomo before surgery on 8th May EEEEK!). He uses Mentor implants, and i will def be dual-plane under muscle and silicon. The big final choice is whether teardrop (Mentor MemoryShape/CPG) or round (cohesive gel 2). Size-wise I sadly don't have a lot of choice due to thin breast tissue, ribs, general smallness etc.. So looking at probably 250cc in either round or teardrop is the safest bet. Confusing as I see women on here who seem to be the same stats/size and yet are going for larger but my surgeon really is cautious and equally I don't want to have rippling/bottoming out and I do really want a natural look.

My surgeon is leaning towards teardrop/shaped. I'm hesitant because:
1) they are firmer
2) hence they are less fluid when you move/bend etc so despite possibly looking more natural they feel less so.
3) sometimes they seem to look a little bit oblong shaped (?!)
4) small risk of rotation (but my surgeon is very skilled and so this is not my main concern)

Also - big question - don't round implants if placed under muscle and if not too large volume for my size also have a more teardrop/sloped look to them after they have fully dropped and fluffed?? And if so, why go for teardrop when they have their drawbacks? Any ideas ladies?

Thank you for taking the time to read my review... :) [RS bleep]

Hi! Thank you for sharing your review! My surgeon use mentors as well. I'm looking at the size chart right now and I think with a bwd of between 11 and 12, a high profile silicone implant with a diameter of 11.4 325 cc or a 11.7 diameter 350 cc may fit in your body. I also like the natural slope look but am going with round, because the more I look at after photos, they seem to drop very nicely and naturally. I would also be afraid of the anatomical implant flipping sideways and creating a weird shape. Maybe you can ask your PS if those sizes are possible for you. If you haven't yet, go to the mentor site and you can see the list of implants by profile and their sizes. Hope that helps a little!

Thank you for your advice! I will check out Mentor's site. If i'm honest i'm a little scared of high profile as I keep reading how they give a more augmented look but you're right that if i want the bigger volume it's probably the only option. And yes i totally agree - so many round implants - incl some HP ones on here - do drop nicely and you end up with that slope anyway.. I will def bring this up with my surgeon in my final meeting with him tomo! Just checked your page - hope you're feeling good about your surgery too, so exciting (and a little nerve-wracking !).

Aww thank you! I wish you luck in your appointment tomorrow. From what I've read, high profile had nothing to do with upper pole fullness (the fake look) and is just a matter of projection (side view) :)

ah ok - good point! Thanks so much!! x

Hey there! I agree that modest sized round implants should still have a natural look after they drop/fluff from what I've seen. Your frame is even smaller than mine (I'm 28.5" under bust), and you have a larger BWD than I do - I think you'd look great up to the low 300's. If you're not comfortable with mod or HP, go for mod+. I was afraid of HP like you. My PS did suggest I could probably go up to 350cc in HP and maybe it would have dropped to a natural position ... But, he preferred the mod so I trusted him.

As you read in my review, I had 265CC as that was the largest my PS could fit in my narrow breast and not risk rippling/etc (he is also a conservative PS like yours), but I wouldn't have been upset if I had just a tiny bit more. I wouldn't say I have boob greed, I'm very happy with my results so far considering the anatomy that my PS was working with - but, 300 would have been nice. Or maybe I just like round, even numbers! Haha. After all, the difference of 35cc isn't much more than a tablespoon.

Whatever you and your PS choose, I'm sure you'll look amazing! :)

thank you :) and thanks also for your advice! Your results look so good and it's still such early days! Unfort my surgeon won't go to around 265cc unless teardrop/shaped implant - i think it's to do with my annoyingly thin skin and my very narrow frame and he's worried how the round would look (i'm not totally convinced but i have to bow to his greater knowledge!). So i think i'm settled on him trying for around that size teardrop but if he can't fit it he'll have back-up of Mod+ 250 or even lower (ARGH!) round as I'd prefer the greater softness of round, so we'll see - depends on what works in surgery...... I have stressed to him that I want as big as poss given the constraints of my anatomy so fingers crossed he listens to me and doesn't just go for the most natural (which would be smaller)... I think yours look really good size, especially on your slim frame, I'm quite jealous ;) ! I'm pretty sure i'll get something close to the 'almost-boob-greed' you've described ha ha! But unless i change surgeons and run the risk of it just looking wrong on my body, i don't think i have much choice but to just accept the limitations of my body and go with what he's suggesting.

Hope your recovery is going smoothly and you're feeling good.. you look it! :)

Hello! I hope your surgery went well and that they beginning of your recovery is too! I ran a search for people with my similar size and height stats, as I am torn on sizing and my surgery is in 8 days... I am similar to you in height and weight (a smidge taller) and a few years older, but also breast-fed my two kids until they were 2 years old each. I have never had bigger than A-cup size (except while preg and nursing) and now am left with just skin, really. But I'm bony and narrow and my biggest concern by far is be as natural looking as possible! I would love to know what size you ended up with, and how you're feeling about it all. I am very torn between 235cc and 255cc. I really like the way the 235cc sizers looked on me, but have been told I need to go with a 255cc implant to achieve that look, as they will look smaller once inside my body. But I am very nervous because I really felt that that the 255cc sizers looked a little too big for me, and I'm afraid they will sit higher/look more "obviously done" -- on the other hand, I fear going with the 235cc will leave me looking the way the 215cc sizers looked, which was smaller than I wanted... Would love your take as we seem to be similar - although it sounds like you had more breast tissue to start with than I'll be going in with. My doctor is also conservative, and I'll have one more appointment with her two days before my procedure to really determine final size. Thank you so much for sharing and posting - sending healing happy vibes to you!

Oh! I'll add that my doc said she would only use round (vs. tearshape) with me. I can't remember if that's a general standard for her of if it has to do with my specific case. Perhaps something to do with teardrop being textured and her wanting to use smooth surface. Anyway would love to hear how things are going for you!

Hi! Thank you, surgery went fine, I ended up going with 225 moderate mentor round (textured) - he tried the 250 in surgery and it looked too stuck on so he went with the 225 moderate which is slightly wider than the mod plus with minimal difference in projection. So far i'm afraid I can't give you much feedback as it's all so swollen! I just don't know whether they'll feel too small once all the swelling has gone down.. quite possible, but then i really had to scale back my expectations on size so going in I was pretty much expecting to wake up and be told that he had used the smaller size. One thing i would say is that it's so hard to accurately compare - if poss (i know it's not easy!) try to separate yourself from RealSelf and all the reviews and before and afters and just look at yourself and try sizers at home in clothes you want to wear and really quiz your PS for what you personally can take (in terms of your anatomy) and what she thinks, I'm sure i really irritated my PS by repeated visits and questions but it's essential i think. RealSelf is super useful in many many ways but I do think it can cultivate a 'boob greed' feeling and even when you think you've found someone with similar stats there are still unknown differences and the same implant can look so different on two people even if they outwardly appear similar (for eg. my PS said that another reason he went for 225 vs 250 in surgery was that he discovered i also had thin muscle and so this would have meant more risk of the implant edges showing through and looking generally more unnatural if he'd gone for 250cc).

So try to go back to yourself and what you want, what fits with your lifestyle and general aesthetic. Hope that helps. Oh also I asked my PS about loss of volume when under muscle etc and he doesn't really believe it's much different.. So in terms of 235 looking more like 215 - my PS would say that's not the case! I know pretty much everyone on here disagrees and as of yet I can't help as too swollen.. but i would add the my PS is one of the top surgeons for breast aug and reconstruction in London so I do think he knows what he's talking about!

Good luck with your decisions! I don't think you can go too wrong between 235 and 255 as very small difference in volume and it sounds like your PS is conservative and cautious so she won't let you go too big. If in doubt - be guiding by her, as long as you have clearly expressed your goal look then should be fine. :)

I'll post some pics once a week is up as right now there's really no point as everything looks out of shape and swollen!!

So it's looking like I need to seriously adjust my expectations - most of my 'wish boobs' are just too big for my frame... feeling quite disappointed. My surgeon has stressed that the max volume he wants to use with my frame is 250cc if we go round (but he prefers more like 225cc) and if I want bigger he would use teardrop/shaped and only up to around 270cc max..and of course no promises as it depends what fits/works in surgery when he tries the sizers......and tbh he didn't seem that optimistic (could be just his poker face..). By the end of the consultation we had settled on trying for the max volume with teardrop, and if it didn't work then I said I'd prefer round if he's going into lower volumes.. Have this horrible feeling that i'm going to wake up next week and be told that he's used low 200s CC round.. Don't mean any offence to any ladies who have this - it's just what I wanted was ideally a slightly bigger look so i'm a bit gutted tbh! On the plus side it would look super-natural... on the down-side I go through all this only to get a slightly bigger boob and not ones that i look down and go 'whoohoo i love these!'.. Let's see.

In reality there is very little difference between, say, 250cc or 265/270cc - so in that sense I'm now wondering whether to just go for round 250 mod+ and at least have a more natural feel (he uses mentor, textured, cohesive 1 round which does feel significantly softer than mentor cdg shaped cohesive 3) rather than trying to eek out 20 extra cc's and go shaped.... Any suggestions?! So so hard to know what's best!

Hi there,
I'm so sorry to read your agonising torment and I see no post op pics!!!
Did you opt out?

Are you seeing another PS?

Please don't give up on yourself!
You deserve to be happy with your body and I don't think any of your wish pics are unrealistic!!!

Hang in there.

Do you know if your PS was planning over or under the muscle?

I went over as I had a lot of tissue to cover the implant but under will give you a more natural looking outcome. I also initially wanted teardrop implants but my PS showed me that rounds in an upright position (ie on the chest) naturally fall into a teardrop shape anyway. And there's the added risk of them rotating and they are harder to the touch.

Anyway.... I went Mentor HP round micro textured and I couldn't be happier.

Please let us know how you're getting on hun!

Thinking of you [RS bleep] :)

Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Went with 220cc round mentor mod profile. Too early to say 100% but happy with the results given that I didn't have much choice re size. Best of luck with everything and thank you again for your comment :) x x x
