Researching BBL Surgeons in the UK - My BBL Journey

At 37 years old with 2 kids, I have decided on having BBL. Originally I planed on having the surgery at the Mecca of butt surgerys - Brazil. I contacted my Brazilian friend who now lives in Florianopolis and she was fantastic at finding surgeons in her city. However the information they gave was sketchy and confusing, one doctor recommended that I should have a both BBL with silicone implants for optimum 'plumpy' effect. The other doctor needed a host of exams such as ultrasound images of my butt and was unable to advise on which surgery or give an estimate of the cost. After considering the cost, safety and return travel 4 weeks after surgery, Brazil was ruled out as a possibility.
I then looked up Dr Jimmerson, the famous Dr Curves in Atlanta, I wanted, and want a 'thick booty' like the stunning Atlanta women on see on the reality TV shows. No doubt Dr Curves would be a safe bet, he has performed hundreds of these surgeries and he is on TV. BUT (pardon the pun) the oversees surgery element again put me off. I really don't want to travel for surgery, for various reasons and looking at cost exceeds what I am prepared to pay for the procedure.
So, on to the UK, as far as I know BBL isn't very common in the UK, but (butt) the procedure here is very tightly regulated, for instance there is a limit on the amount of fat you can inject etc and apparently butt implants are considered unsafe and not performed here. The average price for BBL is the UK seems to be around £6-£7k, which when you factor in the cost of travel to Brazil or the US plus accommodation, it is probably less costly to have it in the UK. You would need to plan to stay for around 4 weeks because after the surgery it is recommended that you don't sit for 2 weeks and limit sitting for up to 4 weeks so a long haul flight would be a nightmare.
So country choosen, next step selecting a surgeon. From my research it appears Dr Hamza, Mr Manish Shiva and Dr Omar Tillo are the leading UK surgeons for BBL. I have booked consultations for all three and will update this forum following my appointments.
I would welcome advice from anyone who has had this surgery and particularly with any of the 3 Drs I have mentioned and any other recommendations.

Decided on Dr Aslani, Surgery in June - Travel Buddies Needed

Leavingitall
So after not much deliberating (i tend to make my decisions pretty
quickly) and thanks to the many positive reviews from all the BBL
lovelies on RS, I have decided to book Dr Aslani for my BBL in June.
The cost has been quoted at 6190 euros plus 21% VAT, however I will try to get the vat waved with medical exemption.
With
1 month to get before my surgery, I have much to do. I am looking at
either staying at the recovery house or a nearby hotel, the Puente
Romano (5*) is charging 569.50 Euros for 8 days. I would love a travel
buddy for mutual support and to share accommodation cost. If anyone is
booked in the first 2 weeks of June please message me.
I am posting before pics to welcome you all to my BBL journey.

Thanks. I needed that encouragement as everything in my life at the moment is going wrong. I just hope the surgery doesn't go the same way. So feeling pretty down and alone. But onwards and updwards. Just waiting for that light at the end of the tunnel.
No wish pics as in my head I can't even imagine a new better me.

So sorry to hear than Hun. But you've got to stay positive, remember with every set back there's an advancement waiting to happen. Positive thinking is KEY. Speak your happiness into existence...x

Thanks. Planning and hoping is all I've got left. It's going to be challenging but hopefully the results won't disappoint. And for me it's just another life lesson I need to accept that I'm on my own.

Hi , I'm currently at the Recovry house and staying in the big room. Its definitely the best room , your own bathroom , balcony and plenty of Space. And it is so nice to be with the other girls here . All going through the same thing . We compare each day and help to put each other's minds at rest as we all have the same stiffness/ swelling etc . I was going to travel with my mum but decided on RH when i was told about it . If u coming alone I would definitely recommend the RH for piece of mind and you don't have to rely on any family / friends . I would suggest you have someone tho to meet u at the airport for when u land home or even , my boyfriend is travelling out here Thursday to pick me up and help me with luggage etc . He will also drive me home as I can lay in the back of his car x

Hi Nikkayla,
Thanks for your comment. I am even more certain that Curvy House was the best option for me.
How long will you stay there?
Is there a small pool at the house and can we sunbath at all post op?
Lastly how did your surgery go? How are you feeling now?
May 15, 2017
I am staying 10 nights . I don't feel I could go home any earlier . There is a pool but it is very hard to sun bathe . you can't expose any stitched areas to the sun . you really don't want to get sweaty in your garment . You would have to lay on your front which I couldn't do On a plastic sun lounger ! And due to swelling I couldn't think of anything worse than sun bathing right now . My surgery went really well and dr aslani really is amazing ! He came to visit me twice in hospital after surgery and he will talk to you just before too . His team are really great ! I'm one week post op today . Feeling ok but still very swollen . He took fat from my inner thighs which he said he would only do if really necessary as they do swell and can be uncomfortable. I did say for him to do all he could to get best results so I just have to put u with ugly legs for now lol .

Hello, Thanks for your review! Cant wait to see how your surgery goes! best of luck with it! Can I ask what you know about trying to get the VAT waived? Im coming from the UK and have been trying to look into it, xx
May 25, 2017
Hi you can either get your go to write a letter stating the surgery is for medical purposes or pay cash at the clinic
May 26, 2017
So if you pay in cash you don't have to pay the VAT?? Xx

UPDATED FROM Leavingitall

Just when I thought all would be well.. The Recovery house lets me down.

Leavingitall
So I have booked my flight, my surgery, paid the deposit for my surgery which is scheduled for 6th June and worked out my total budget for the accommodation and transport. I was finally feeling positive and hopeful and believed that I could do this on my own. This was important to me because with less than a month before the surgery my 'fiance' let me down big time and we have split up. I thought I could do this on my own him and wouldn't need him or his money. And then this morning the recovery house emailed me to tell me that the small room I had requested wont be available for my dates and I can only have the big room which is more expensive.
Its frustrating because I had sent the house a selection of dates in June that I could have the surgery but they told me they could only confirm once they had the dates of the surgery, so I booked not knowing if the room would be available because they wouldn't confirm availability until I sent them the date. So now my options are to either pay 750 for the big room for 7 days or book a hotel/apart hotel. Both options exceed my budget and it is really daunting for me to go into a hotel post surgery alone. I really don't know what to do.

I was looking into the recovery house too, but since I was taking my other-half with me AND wanted the possibility for my Mum to join us later on (she needs a holiday!) we went with a place via trip-advisor. We were looking at lots of options via hotel.com booking.com etc etc, but also airbnb - of which there are many really nice apartments in the area. But ultimately we went with a fantastic place we found on trip advisor. Now I know you don't want to go alone, but maybe worth looking on tripadvisor and airbnb for something nice for yourself. Maybe also try and see on here if there's anyone else going approximately during the same period you're going? xx

I complained to my coordinator-Jenny. She then raised it with her boss and they negotiated for me to have the big room @700euros.
So back on track. All is now booked and reserved.

Is paying for a hotel and a friend/family members flight(to help you recover) not an option? Also when I spoke to one of th co-ordinaters they said they had nurses available for hire too. So ask them to give you info on that Hun x

The irony is that my ex is now insisting on coming along to support and pay for an apartment.... I would rather swallow the fat that Dr A extracts from me bth

Loooool! This is YOUR journey so don't let anyone stea your energy. It's way more satisfying when you get things done yourself anyone then you haven't got to hear anyone speak on how much they've done for you and act like you owe them lol. And 700 that's greatttt! Glad it worked out x

It was actually 600 euros.

Hurray ! :) Best wishes for your procedure when you have it x

Thanksss

Hey hun x just catching up with your review, was gutted for you when I read you couldn't stay at RH but after reading down the posts it seems that all has worked out for the best x happy that has happened as you really dont need the added stress or that of your EX neither!! Remember he's an EX for a reason! You'll be better off at the RH no negative vibes there just the care and attention you need to heal well and recover. Glad it's all worked out good for you x :-)

Hey Repas68 thank you for the support. 3 weeks to go and I can't weight. Everything happens for a reason right. Let's hope fate is guiding me to happiness because God knows I've been through the worst this past year.
I've decided to isolate myself from now until the surgery. The breakup is recent and I have purposely put on weight for the surgery so am not at my best physically and mentally. This is a growing period for me and the less I see of people the better. X
May 18, 2017
You have to do what feels right for you x we are all here for you if you need us. Break ups are heavy to deal with but you will come out of this stronger, you've already taken control. When I'm not 100% I often hide away, it's our way of protecting ourselves. Just focus and visualise looking at the new you next month and that will help you through this x :-)
May 18, 2017
Thanks Repas, this week has been hard. I've been really stressed which has affected my immune system so have been ill all week. I have the flu and tonsillitis usually the flu doesn't hit me so hard. I'm on a course of antibiotics and the only good thing is that it's happened now rather than closer to the surgery date otherwise it would have impacted on the op. The ex isn't helping either. He keeps saying I need to drop my "act" and just accept I will need him around for the op, that I will need him to be there and I will need his money.
May 20, 2017
Hope your feeling better today :-) your right, it's better to be sick now than at the time of surgery.... You really dont need all this hassle from your EX. You got along before you met him and you'll do just fine without him. It sounds like it's him who is the needy one, he needs you to need him. He also wants to control you and have the power over you by using his money. If you can get by without his offer then run a mile from him, you will feel so more empowered doing this on your own, especially if your staying at the RH as you will have all the support you need around you. Plus you have our support too x :-)
May 20, 2017
Good morning, I'm feeling much better both physically and mentally. Getting stronger by the day. I've lost some weight this week because of the flu and tonsillitis but still have 2 weeks plus to put it back on. Today I'm spring cleaning

How are you? I hope your surgery went well and your not in too much pain x :-)
