If you’re considering undergoing any cosmetic p...

If you’re considering undergoing any cosmetic procedure, the surgeon you choose will be the most important decision you make concerning this. It’s his skill and expertize you’ll be relying on - not just for the procedure itself, but for all the guidance and information you’ll need to make a fully informed decision ; particularly for this procedure because there will be many questions and options to decide. Should I go over or under the muscle? What size is best for me? Round or anatomical? What should I expect and prepare for with my recovery? What sort of guarantees and after care will be given? You can research a lot of this online, but you won’t know exactly what is right for you until you go for your consultation with your surgeon, who will help you decide what is right for you and your body.
I, like many other women, did my research before booking any consultations and found on websites (like this one and other forums) that one name kept popping up, Mr Allen Rezai. When I researched further, I found that it was impossible to find a single negative thing about him. Not one bad review. Nothing less than 5 stars on every aspect of his skill and care. I think then I knew I had found the right surgeon for me.

The Hospital I went to for the procedure was Highgate Private Hospital. I was a little worried about staying there as it seems to have very mixed reviews online, but I thought the level of care, attentiveness and facilities available were all great. There is a small TV in the room but with only a few channels, so I was glad to have brought a few things with me while I was waiting with my family. There was an en suite bathroom complete with shower (not that I’d be using it) as well as wifi and a call button for the nurse in my room. There was also a phone which I could use for calls and to order food from the kitchen any time I wanted. The menu was limited, but had something for every taste. I stuck with plain food like panini while I was there. The most important aspects such as patient care, medical facilities and nursing staff were all excellent but there were one or two hiccups in my stay which were more due to my own ignorance so I’ll inform others here:
Firstly, when you check in, don’t use the bathroom straight away; they will do a pregnancy test on you for their records when the nurse sees you so wait till then. I didn’t know so I went straight away and then had to wait a while till I could do the test, which delayed my surgery by a couple of hours.
Secondly, research the after effects of general anesthetic before you go to the hospital, neither I, nor my poor family were prepared for the irritability I had for a couple of weeks after my surgery. It was like the worst PMS ever. Most women get teary and emotional, I wanted to head-butt people.
Thirdly, and lastly, you won’t be allowed to eat for at least 12 hours before your surgery but don’t try to make up for it after by eating too much. I took full advantage of the food available which was included in the cost of the room (I stayed overnight) and the morning of my discharge I ate well, felt fine and then threw up when we were about to leave. The nurses were wonderful though, they sprang into action, had me lie back down on my bed, cooled me down, monitored my blood pressure and I wound up being wheeled out of the hospital to my ride home a couple of hours later than we had arranged, more fool me for trying to be a tough girl. We had to cancel the taxi we booked but the hospital arranged for another to come and the cost was even slightly less than the one we had booked in advance beforehand, so it all worked out in the end.
The nurses were all very kind and friendly apart from one (there always has to be a bad apple) and I was checked on throughout the night of my stay to make sure I was okay. My family were also reassured and made to feel welcome, they stayed in my room when I was in theatre and only left late that night which was fine by the staff who don’t restrict this sort of thing and gave them drinks throughout which was also included in the price of my stay so we weren’t charged any extra while we were there, even though I was discharged later than the norm.

It has been less than two months since my surgery right now and I can say that I have no regrets. I fit into all my old clothes better than before and look forward to fitting into some new ones too. I now enjoy having very natural breasts which fit my body and balance out my figure, something I have wanted since I was a teenager. Because my breasts now look so natural and in proportion, I enjoy the freedom of discretion as to whom I do and do not tell about my procedure. If I want someone to know, I’ll tell them, but if I want to keep it to myself, they’ll never suspect that I am not naturally endowed. It is thanks to the expertize of Mr Rezai and his team that I now can enjoy such natural looking results without ever wondering if I made the wrong choice in any aspect of my procedure.

Mr Rezai runs a private practice of his own so from the first consultation to the last I spoke with him and his small team. I wasn’t passed from a consultant or nurse to the surgeon like they do in multi surgeon cosmetic groups, (I won’t drop any names here) so I knew right from the beginning who my surgeon would be. From the first consultation, I got solid information and personalized answers from him as to what was best for me and my body. Mr Rezai’s credentials speak for themselves so he didn’t need to try to sell anything to me or put any pressure on me at all, in fact, he encouraged me to look at more than one surgeon so that I would be certain and happy with my choice. I had looked at other places, but there was no one who matched Mr Rezai on experience and skill, which is why he lets his work just speak for itself. Something that I found also to be of great comfort when I was researching surgeons was that Mr Rezai specializes in making a woman look in proportion and with as natural looking results as possible, which is exactly what I wanted. If you’re looking to get watermelons, he is not the surgeon for you and is unlikely to take you on as a client, not just for cosmetic reasons but to save you further discomfort in the long run as there is a limit as to what a woman’s frame can take without causing backache and other medical problems. My first consultation was a little daunting, I’ll admit, but Mr Rezai and his team were warm, welcoming and professional to myself and my husband. This first consultation they charge for at 120 pounds, (after that every other meeting is free) but it was well worth it. Before I was examined, we were given all the up to date information pertaining to risks of surgery, results of extensive trials of women who had had the procedure over the last few decades and other information as to other procedures which might give me the results I was looking for. This was also given to us in print so we could read it through at home. Mr Rezai then examined me, checked that my breast tissue was normal and healthy (no lumps etc) and gave me the range of sizes which would be suitable for my body based on measurements he took, along with his recommendation on the brand and type of implant. I chose the low end of the range 300cc round mentor implants in the end but not before returning for several more consultations. Throughout every consultation Mr Rezai answered every question I and my husband had, we went over some of them many times along with considering and reconsidering what size to go with (trying on sizers) but no matter how many times we came back, what questions we asked and how many times we asked them, Mr Rezai and his team were only too happy to answer, advise and help in any way they could, even the small details. I particularly appreciated how Mr Rezai and his team took into account the concerns and opinions of my family too, my husband came with me every time and sometimes my daughter came too and neither was marginalized at all. Although the surgery would be on me alone, I of course wanted my family to be fully across and in agreement on what would be done, as they are the ones who have supported me and my decision to do this, Mr Rezai and his team understood this, and everyone, not just me, came away from each consultation with their fears alleviated and questions answered. We booked the date and I made my final decision on size when I had my pre op tests done, Mr Rezai talked with us for well over an hour that last time, staying till quite late as we were his last appointment for the day but he didn’t mind at all, he wanted to make sure we were all confident in everything we had discussed and the final decision before surgery. The day of the surgery went well, for the week leading up to it I had a few moments of nerves but Mr Rezai’s team (Jayne and Alex) were a phone call away and organized everything pertaining to the surgery as well as reassuring me through the final days. Mr Rezai wrote to my GP at this time to inform him of the procedure I was going to have done (as he does with all his patients) and fully informed him of not only the procedure itself, but the alternative options discussed and a full run down of my health and the health and make up of my breasts in a thorough and complete explanation. This is something not every surgeon does, often preferring to leave it to the patient to tell her doctor if she wants to, but Mr Rezai ensures that every patients personal GP is informed not only for future reference, but to ensure that there is nothing in the patient’s medical history that they may be unaware of which could affect the health of the patient during and after the procedure. I checked in at the Hospital which went well. The surgery itself went quickly and Mr Rezai came to see me the following morning before I was discharged. I had no bruising what so ever, no issues with bleeding or problems with my stitches, only a little swelling but even on day one they looked pretty good. The hardest part of this process was the recovery, I had the implants placed under the muscle, which is always a longer recovery time but even then I found that my body healed remarkably quickly. This may be partly due to the fact that I am still fairly young and strong but I feel it is also because I had such a good surgeon. None the less, as with any surgery like this, the first week was the most difficult in terms of discomfort and mobility, every day Jayne from Mr Rezai’s office called to check how my progress was going and answer any questions or concerns that I had. One week after my surgery I had a check-up with Mr Rezai again to see how I was healing and we were all very pleased with the results. From the first consultation to the last check-up I had (and I will be having more through the lifetime of the implants) I felt completely assured that I was in the care of the best surgeon in his field. My health and wellbeing was the highest priority at all times for Mr Rezai and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seriously considering getting breast augmentation surgery. He is not in this business to line his own pocket, but to help women gain confidence and self esteem in how they look.
