I was stupid to get a tattoo (143 Chas), worst mistake ever. I went and got it covered, but hate it even more, ten years now. My job has a no tattoo policy so I am a part of the long sleeves gang. I decided to get it removed, I have had 2 procedures done. I am sad because I have yet to see any changes. I will go a third time but is no change... I might cute off skin( just kidding). I have no one to blame but myself...

hi there are you african american ? im asking because im african american with dark skin like urs and on this website theres not many african americans on here for tattoo removal so im so excited i found ur review. Your not alone and i completely understand how you feel i have a tattoo i got last year in december and i got it to try and cover up a scar i have from two hernia surgeries i had to have on my belly button as a baby but i was left with a scar and a disformed belly button in the process. so one day my cousin was talking about when was i going to get my first tattoo and i said now i was excited and plus i wanted to start showing off my stomach because the scar and disformed belly button made me feel self conscious to show my stomach even though its flat as ever so the next day she took me to a tattoo shop and i got a rose to cover up the scar. soon as it was done i hated it and to me i could still see the scar but everybody else tells me you cant. i hate it with a passion my tattoo is located on my stomach ( naval area) and my tattoo is mainly black ink with black shading but also has a lil red and green in it not as much color as urs though the color on my tattoo kinda looks dull its not as vibrant / bright as urs. but me and u are in the same boat mines just isnt as big as urs mine is the a lil bigger than the size of a business card. but im looking into laser removal as well and heard that darker skin people will have hard time removing tattoos from our dark skin and its even harder if its colored ink. i just wanted to know where do you go for ur treatments> what kind of laser is being used on ur tattoo? and what has ur laser technician said about the color ink and if how many sessions did he suggest u may need?

Hi, yes I am African American. I just had my second treatment he used (Medlite C6 is an industry standard laser for multi-colored tattoo removal, with four unique wavelengths. Medlite C6 offers our patients a great, consistent results with no downtime required. It can be used for all skin types and is the safer choice for people with darker complexions.) I saw no changes after the first treatment, but this second one there is a lot of swelling, itching, it looks like I just got a new tattoo. I hope this is signs of ot working. I was told that maybe about 5-8 treatments. But I will go back maybe August-Sept for #3. Funny how we try to fix one thing and messes up even more..

Hi Williams122, I told you the wrong laser: RevLite Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is a powerful multiple wavelength system used to treat stubborn multi-color tattoos. RevLite delivers energy through the epidermis faster than the skin can react, allowing it to administer a precisely controlled amount of energy into the tattoo ink while minimizing injury to the treatment area. This system is used for patients with both light and dark skin.

Hi Williams, is your rose red and black? The doctor did tell me that my green n red might not fade. But it all depends on my skin. Like me I decided to only invest 3 treatments unless I see changes. So I would advice to go try it. I will ask my doctor friend that is in tx if he knows any places as well..

One week after my second treatment: the swelling and itching is real? I don't want to be a worrier and call the doctor. I keep a nice pack handy.. Right now it's looking like a brand new tattoo :-(

Hi there, don't worry! My tattoo was swollen (lines raised) and itchy for almost 3 weeks after my 2nd treatment. I was beginning to worry too but the skin eventually goes back to normal if you follow your aftercare instructions . I already have some raised lines/ scarring from getting the tattoo itself so those areas remain raised but everything else heals just fine. Be patient and give your skin some time to heal, I have to keep reminding myself of that after each treatment! Welcome and good luck to you!

Srd14, thank you so very much. I did start to feel a little regretful towards the treatments. I am glad to have found real self. To be able to speak with others that has gone down the road I'm on now and getting advice. The itch is not as bad, lines still raised, but I'm not worried, because you survived without cutting your arm off.. :-)

Hey there, welcome to the community. Hey, don't be so hard on yourself, we all make decisions that we wish we could go back and change.

Would you mind updating your review to note what type of laser you are using, this way it won't get lost in the comments.

Keep us posted :)

After my 2nd treatment, 6/18/14 a week later the itch kicks in mostly at night. After two nights of no sleep, keeping arm iced, and using aquaphor, I was done.. Last night I used naftin cream, slept like a baby :-). Doctor office said it was ok to use..
