WORTH IT
I was devastated when I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer in November 2013. A bilateral mastectomy was my only option since I not only had a mass and atypical changes throughout my one breast, but an MRI revealed a small lesion in the other breast. I knew I wanted reconstruction, but I really did not want implants. I was kind of freaked out by foreign material inside my body and I also did not want to be too big. Now granted, after nursing 4 kids I wasn't left with much, but I am very active and love Crossfit, so I didn't want my new breasts to affect my ability to work out. Some of the muscle flap procedures would restrict what I could do.
Thank God I found Dr Redstone! He turned this whole process into a "blessing in disguise". His kind, gentle manner immediately put me at ease. He offered the perfect reconstruction for me, using the skin and fat from my inner thighs and butt. He told me he could make me.. "me but perky". Perfect..."perky boobs and a tight ass".. what every 48 year old mother of 4 wants! Dr Redstone completely explained the procedure and possible complications...5% chance of needing to go back in if there is not adequate blood flow. Unfortunately that happened to me but with Dr Redstone's skills, I was in the 4% that are resolved after going back in.
I feel so blessed to have found Dr Redstone. He is not your typical surgeon. He truly cares for his patients and their families. You can tell that he enjoys what he does and takes every step to make sure that you are happy with the results.
His staff, Alison, in reception and his nurse Joel, are equally kind and caring. There is a air of calm and ease when you walk into the office, which I cannot say about every doctor's office I have stepped into. They are always there for you no matter what the question, what the issue or what the time.
The whole process, physically and mentally, was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through, but the final results are AMAZING!! I have minimal scarring and "the girls" look and feel so natural, definitely better than I looked before I had kids!

Where exactly are your donor sites located? Did you need any reconstructive surgeries to your donor sites?
Terrific, thank you for posting! Would you consider sharing photos of your results? It really helps others considering the same procedure to see successful results from others in the community.
How long was your recovery time?
