Im so excited, my surgery will have been all done a week today, is it normal to feel excited and not at all nervous?
I've not bought a compression garment yet, but I do have a Spanx which goes under my bust and just half way down my thighs, would this be suitable?

Hi, how is it going? Did your surgery go well? Hope you are pleased with the results. I'm due for mine in 17 days, I'm in Southampton. It's great to find other UK ladies on the site. Best wishes for happy healing!

Good luck on the healing. I am 3 weeks post op now and just wear your binder tight but not so it's painful or digging in anywhere. I love mine really snug but I need help putting it on as it's elastic and I can't pull it tight enough myself. Xx

Hi, I've tried wearing my binder but it's to long, I now know my drains where on my pubic bone and the binger kept digging in so it was really sore, I've got my Spanx doubled over the lower part and bought a shorter binder for upper tummy area, it's so much better, and as you say snug. Are you still sleeping on your back?
November 3, 2014
Yeah on back in bed with my wedge pillow still for some reason I still can't lay flat nor walk straight without my stomach really pulling. The top part of my tummy has loosened but my lower tummy is still rock hard and very tight. My binder is long on me but I am 5'1, I had to pay £60 for it so getting my money's worth! How are you feeling and healing? Xx

Hello Gembo82, Im at the why did i do this day! lol, but i also got my period so was wondering if thats why i couldnt bare wearing it any longer, im walking quite straight but my nurse advised me to hunch over a little, I can lay flat but use pillows under my knees which is comfortable, ive developed quite a large bruise on my tailbone which is pretty sore, apparently not much i can do about that. Oh well off to bed and i hope that you have a good day. x

Ouch I remember the sore tailbone and the numb bum, I thought I had done all the research I needed for this surgey, but I didn't know about the sore bum, sore back, sore neck etc etc. I had my check up with the surgeon today he asked me to cough while he felt my tummy, I looked at him like he was mad, I had spent the past 4 weeks doing all that I could not to cough! Luckily it didn't feel like I was being ripped in half this time. I'm still hunched, my back is actually killing me :( Hope you feel better tomorrow. Xx

Hello Gembo82, im feeling much better today, i was obviously on a low. Oh god the cough you do feel like you will pop open! I sneezed today and i sounded like an elephant, i was holding my stomach and trying to keep my sneeze in, it never hurt but i was petrified lol Im finding a memory pillow to sit on is good for my tailbone as the bruising is not as bad.... Take Care xx

well I'm absolutely chuffed that my pain is at a very low level and I'm managing to walk with just a little hunch over, I've started bruising and I have all the expected ups and downs, crying for no reason, narking at the kids, and restlessness, but it's just a blip in my recovery journey. My daughter is taking me for a drive tomorrow for a change of scenery, I won't be getting out of the car as I look like a wild banshee, I can't wait to take a bubble bath. Heaven.

Hi im in Southampton and due for my tt with some lips next week. How long was it before you were able to take a shower? I've purchased two of the four section binders... Wonder now if I should have got a three instead! I guess time will tell... I'm more nervous about how hubby will cope with me laid up. He's tries to help but needs a huge amount of guidance to notice housework! Oh well, if I stay in bed I guess I won't notice the state of my kitchen! ;)

Hello Kippersbear, Im still not allowed to shower as i have my plasters on, a good wash down with a soapy flannel has been my daily wash. As for housework you will have to leave it to hubby, the less you do will make such a difference to your healing, I have had my daughter helping me and she is a busy body but whatever she has done or doing im being very nittypicky with her, stay calm and be patient with yourself, its very frustrating otherwise, Ive just had to sit and hold my tongue, What i would suggest to buy is a long arm grabber, the type you see people picking up litter, its so frustrating if you drop something and cant pick it up!! I dropped the toilet roll last week and got upset as i couldnt pick it up lol I only bought 1 binder, and glad that i did, i wore it for 2 days and then changed it to a tight fitting spanx, best thing ever, my binder was to long and put pressure where my drains had been, Ive not taken it off since. So happy i done it....take care x

Thx, just been for my pre op today. All suddenly seems so real! I'm terrible when I get frustrated so I shall have to learn to bite my tongue. I bought two binders on/off so will have to make do with them... I'm hoping I'll cope ok. Hope you continue to heal well, I'm sure you will look amazing. Keep smiling :)
