I can't believe all the doctors responses to all...

I can't believe all the doctors responses to all the people on here who got bad damage to their skin on their face! IPL makes your skin look terrible! Immediately it made skun sink in, huge pores, orange peal, under eyes total creepy!!! My whole face looks like crap and 15 years older! I had gorgeous skin before this! Now red face, red spider veins, skin very old looking now. I'm depressed and can't focus on anything else but this. The doctors are liars! Beware. Just read all the massive complaints about the same exact problem AFTER the treatment. I regret it all. Had 3 done.....now I look terrible. My eyes are blurry from doing the procedure under my eyes. The whole thing is just the biggest mistake I have EVER made. Wondering if, or when the skin will ever look better....or like I used to look. So sad.

I really don't have any helpful suggestions, I just wanted to say I'm sorry you've experienced this. I've had my share of bad results, despite carefully researching my doctors (filler, laser...) and know how upsetting this can be. Hopefully your skin will improve, or you find an honest and knowledgeable doctor who can help.

Did you notice anything after your first treatment? What did.you get the ipl for...wrinkles...sunspots? I've had 1 treatment thus far & i'm not sure if it has done much of anything. I do see some clearer areas on sides of my face. Just wondering what you.saw after 1st treatment. Sorry for what happened to you!

It was the 2nd teatment that did it. Very high setting. Hurt bad. I originally got the treatment because I had 2 little tiny red veins on mt cheek. Now ruined skin. It aged about 12 years. My whole face is a creppy, wrinkly, large pore mess! I guess I have no choice but to get over it. Im so mad still. Felt i was lied to. Threw money out tge window. And I guess that's what I get for being worried about my looks.

Hi, please don't blame yourself in any way for this! We are all concerned about our looks and want to look as good as we possibly can, and there is nothing wrong with that! What happened to you is awful! I hope that in time your skin will heal and you will begin to feel better. But I think something has to be done about this. After reading all of these stories, I think the government is going to have to step in and do something. I had an IPL scheduled for this Sat. for some sunspots on my face. I did a little research and was recommended to have this done. I made the appointment and then I found this website. After reading all of these stories, I cancelled my appointment. I hope your skin will heal. If I were you I would consult an attorney as well. This should not have happened!

I had 1 treatment to my whole face, didn't really see much improvement and still had 2 more to go, but after I read and saw some horrific pictures and experiences I backed out of the last 2 sessions. I noticed a pattern how the 1st and or 2nd treatment went well but then most treatments after that burnt the skin. I'm glad I fidng go through with the rest. I'm very sorry you are going through this and hope you get better.

I beg you, don't do any more ipl! You'll regret it.

So sorry this happened to you. I have recommendations that may help (they have helped me, but it took me years to figure this out.) First, copper peptides to stabilize the damage. I got the CP Serum from Skin Biology (an online company -- they're reputable.) Use the regular serum, not the higher strength ones. Avoid scrubs or anything strong for now. Then, for texture and pigmentation issues what is working for me is Skin Actives' UV Repair. (I am on about my seventh jar!) It lifts out the uneven pigmentation and as it does, red marks and indentations are revealed below and then they smooth out. I also use a moisturizing oil from an Etsy seller called Skin Apotheke (Organic Flower Power Radiance). What both of these have in common is sandalwood oil. have tried emu oil, which a lot of people recommend, but didn't really get anywhere with it. Some people recommend Psoria Gold for IPL damage -- I haven't tried it so I can't say. Use high SPF sunblock at all times. Give your skin a chance to heal, and it will.

Thank you for all your tips and advice, I will do exactly what you mentuoned and see if that helps. Its been about 2 months since IPL, my skin has this rough orange peel look, big pores, under eyes all creepy and wrinkles (which i never had before)..... I've gotten so depressed and I used to be very social and enjoyed going places with friends and now I am a hermit and stay home. This is the worst thing. I can't believe that a machine that doctors say is great for building collagen can destroy your face. I can see my fat is gone under eyes and my face us shrinking. I know this sounds strange, but my face is somewhat a different shape now. My eyes arw sunk in, and dry. My head hurts a lot. ...that machine was in high and she did mt forehead too so now my temples have skun and bone. ...all the fat is gone. ... i sure hope it gets better because I am going to be pretty sad if it doesn't. I hope somebody files a lawsuit against the manufacturers of these machines. So many people's faces destroyed by lies from doctors and other people performing with IPL.

My feeling is that once the volume is gone, it's gone but when your skin returns to being smooth and even, that makes a huge difference. I'm still researching this but some more recommendations I have are to take a good herbal anti-inflammatory / anti-oxidant such as grape seed extract, pycnogenol or resveratrol. Another rec is Gotu Kola (also known as Centella asiatica.) It is known to be excellent as a topical for healing burns and I think taking an oral supplement would also be a good idea (unless it's contra-indicated by your doctor) since the IPL damage is at a deeper layer in the skin. I think the key is to get the chronic inflammation (which is damaging in itself) to stop so the skin can start the healing process. I also eat paleo/ whole foods (depends how far you want to take this, but try to avoid gluten and sugar at the very least) and wear high SPF religiously as my skin is now permanently more sun sensitive and I can't afford any more damage.

PS Skin Actives' Antioxidant Serum has a lot of anti-inflammatory ingredients including tetrahydrocurcuminoids, aka curcumin, which is the active in Psoria Gold, although Psoria Gold says they have a proprietary process that makes the curcumin better absorbed. I have also seen tamanu oil mentioned as being good for this. It's traditionally used in the South Pacific for burns.

Years past of IPL DAMAGE

cooper katie
It's now been over 2 years after my IPL damage. My skin hasn't improved much and my face looks different these days.... Very large pores and lots of fat loss. It's a constant battle trying to find new things to try to improve the IPL damage that I received. Under eyes sunk in and temples with lots of fat loss and my vision is still blurry. It really effected my eye sight. I still have broken capillaries on cheeks even though I've done treatments to get rid of them, they only come back.
