Liposuction 3 weeks post op
So I took the plunge and had surgery in May. I waited so so so long for this day. It went smoothly, the surgery I believe was around 4 hours and around 8 litres was taken from my waist, abdomen, hips, back, thighs both inner and outter, knees, bra area. Growing up I was bullied about my weight, and confidence was something god never graced me with. At 21 i was nearly 20 stone, I had my gall bladder removed where I had abused my body with bad foods. I knew I had to change, so I did. I started the gym and eating healthy. By the time I was 25 I had lost nearly 8 stone, been VERY lucky not to suffer with loose skin as my weight loss was slow and steady and went to the gym religiously. I was very self conscious about my hips and thighs/ legs as my weight loss had come from other areas before here. So I looked into surgeons in my area and abroad and started to do some research into what surgery would suit me best. I decided to go for liposuction. I met with A couple of surgeons and had face to face consultations but when I met my surgeon something just felt right. He was very professional, very kind, understanding of my journey already, with a lot of information for me to go away and think about. Throughout my time knowing him both pre and post surgery he has always been very supportive, on hand to reply to queries and worries, and I’m so glad I had this with him. I took 14 days off work which I definitely needed with the amount of fat taken I was so tender and bruised. The first week is your hardest but it does get easier and I can move a lot better now, a tip.. I sleep on my back every night with my legs on around 6 pillows to keep elevated, this and my Macom garment helps a lot. I do swell up when I walk or I’m on my feet for a while but his is normal so early in. I’m 3 weeks post op today, I am struggling mentally with the swelling but that’s just because it’s taken me back to being ‘bigger’ again and I know I can’t burn my anger off in the gym for another 3 weeks, I’m usually quite active. The pain was bad YES and the bruises are big..But I had multiple areas done, a lot of fat removed and it was worth it. One thing I wasn’t prepared for.. was my vagina swelling nearly 4 times it’s size, but the public area is common to swell after this kind of surgery so don’t be alarmed like I was! It took about 8-10 days to go down. I am starting lymphatic drainage massage next week to help with my swelling also so I’ll create another review on that. I have attached some photos of me before weight loss, after weight loss, before surgery and 3 weeks post surgery. I’m expected to be swollen for quite a few more weeks yet, so I will post some more before and after photos once I’ve had my 6 week post op with the consultant. Hope you found this somewhat helpful. I’ve been as honest as I can. For being only 3 weeks in I can see a difference already my waist has massively gone in, and my legs are a lot smaller with more defined knees (which I wanted) it’s hard to see the results so early on because your so swollen but I can see big changes already which is amazing. I just have to be patent and wait for he next stages of recovery.
