Bub-Bye Thunder Thighs

My Thigh lipo is scheduled

After decades of hating my thunder thighs and cellulite (both hereditary), I finally decided to do something about it. It's primarily my inner thighs and saddlebags but also between my knee to just above ankle that needs help too. After speaking to a few Drs in the Boston area, I chose Dr Volpe for his reviews and his kind demeanor, explanation of what happens during the procedure and what to expect after. The procedure will take place on April 14.
I am a bit concerned that I will under general anesthesia for a couple hours - not what I had expected. I don't foresee a problem as the procedure and target areas are a regular request for him. What I'm more concerned about is the aftercare - the draining, the bruising, the scars, the swelling, the restricted movement & inactivity for so long (I love to power walk). But the biggest issue is wearing a compression garment for 4-6 weeks! I can't stand the feeling of spanx, so I'm dreading my recovery. I hope to be good to go by Memorial Day weekend. I realize the cellulite won't be directly treated by the lipo but Dr Volpe said it will be less prominent after approx 1" of fat is removed from the inner thighs.

Hi girl. So I had lipo and then had it transferred to my breasts. I'll tell you one thing I did was to stop drinking 3 months before. The doctor told me to stop 2 weeks before but I misunderstood and went. 3 months. I think that's one reason my lipo looks amazing. I even had nurses and his staff tell me that would make a big difference and it sure did. Also I got lymph massages and few times just before I went and then a few times after. That also helped because your lymph takes away all the illness and things in your body so it will help getting the Anesthsia out of your system and just in general help with your recovery plus it's just feels great bc it releases a lot of swelling. I was concerned about the time under too but it only gets dicey if you are under more than 6 hours. So don't let that worry you. I worse my compression garments for 3 months. It also helped with my lipo looking amazing. It's really important plus for me I liked having it on bc it kinda helped me with the pain. I'm a sweller so I had swelling until the 3 month mark. Make sure to get 2 of them because you can wash one after your shower and then have a clean one to change into. You can just wash them in the sink and hang to dry. I had a system to do this. I also had compression type spanks that were also great. I had a size smaller than my actual compression garments because as the swelling went down the garments got a little loose. Make sure to have Emu cream, arnica cream and arnica pills to take before. You will need to have frozen peas to keep on your legs that actually feels good too. I got a wedge type thing to put at the small of my back like the tailbone. Your compression garments won't compress that area very well so this helped a ton. You can get it on Amazon. Do a search for compression garments and you'll find lots of stuff. And make sure to eat lots of healthy proteins and fruits and veggies after. That really helps. And don't drink alcohol for a few weeks after. It's inflammatory and will keep you swollen more. I you will need to have some sort of a cup to use to pee bc if you're having the back of your legs done you won't be able to sit that well. I think it's called Go Girl and also it's on Amazon. I also walked to help healing. It's important to be able to move. I didn't work out for a month or longer too but maybe my doc recommended this bc of the transfer to the breast. I had to be super careful to keep all the fat. I that's it! If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Good luck!! And post pics for us!

Thank you so much for your info! I don't drink more than 1 drink/wk so I think I'm good there. They haven't given me the list of stuff I need yet but they are providing the compression garments. I'll look into the other tens you listed. Thanks again!

Before pics & wish pic

Surgery is set for early morning of Wednesday, April 14. So here are my before pics. As much as I hate to post these, they clearly show my issues with my thighs. Not only is there a lot of extra fat on inner things, knees and saddlebags, but also a lot of cellulite that’s crept up over the years (heredity for the most part). I know this liposuction won’t help the cellulite much but Dr Volpe said I may be able to have a simple life (not that major one that have giants scares and oozing wounds in bad places!). So we’ll see how to settles. The second pic is what I’m hoping the shape of my legs will look like when I’m fully recovered. Wishful thinking - I’m doubting they will look that skinny!

How old are you? Later on you said you had some sagging skin. I am 66...I really want that inside thigh blubber gone but he warned me that with liposuction it would leave bagging skin. Your pics look like you are young (I think you look fantastic, btw), so I would say go to a massage therapist and get lymphatic massage. It takes time, but it REALLY works

The surgery went very well. Dr Volpe explained to me in detail exactly what was going to happen and how he was going to do it. That reassured me - he has an excellent bedside manner & wit. All in all, I was “under” about 4 hours but 1 hr was in the recovery room. I was told I’d drain but haven’t yet. As you can see, the stylish black compression pants show what looks like my same legs underneath. I gained 5 lbs in liquid! So I’ve got a lot to come up. My biggest problem is trying to sit still. I’ve been walking about my place quite a bit. I’m betting I’ll be sorry later.
