Terrible Experience with Lipo & Renuvion

I start my review by saying I am not a newbie to plastic surgery and realistic results. I’ve had two surgeries prior to this experience and more than my fair share of aesthetic treatments. I didn’t use my prior surgeon as I was looking for a surgeon who used Renuvion for skin tightening. Dr. Sundin is one of few locally who do. I met with Dr. Sundin to discuss liposuction and Renuvion to my inner thighs where I had fat pockets. Renuvion was key because I did not want lift scars. I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Sundin. He agreed we could accomplish my goals. Through mentioning my own desires and my level of comfort with him I left with a quote not only for my entire thighs but my upper arms too, roughly $25k. Surgery day came and I was recovering, excited for my results. I followed post op instructions to the letter. I had sessions of Venus Freeze on my arms and legs as encouraged to do. The first session of Venus Freeze was covered with surgery, following were $300 a session. Unfortunately, by week two follow-up I knew there was an issue. My arms were extremely lumpy. I had FOLDS of loose skin down my inner thigh. I raised my concerns and was assured Renuvion takes time to see final results, up to 6 months and to continue with Venus Freeze sessions (more $$) for additional skin tightening benefits. At my continued follow-ups with no improvement Dr. Sundin agreed to a second surgery, free of charge, for another round of Renuvion on my thighs and a mini arm lift. 2nd surgery down, things were worse and I had scars in my armpit that I wanted to avoid from the beginning. After the 2nd surgery, many follow ups, Dr. Sundin’s solution was to excise the loose skin from my thighs leaving me with about a 6 inch visible scars down the front of both my thighs. The only solution for my arms was a full arm lift. He offered these surgeries again at no cost. I was extremely uncomfortable with the solution offered and having a third surgery (second revision) performed by Dr. Sundin. It was at that point, after seeing my reaction, Dr. Sundin suggested I could seek a second opinion if I felt it was necessary. At that time I said it wasn’t I just needed time to consider how best to move forward. Luckily, my family encouraged me to get a second opinion, I ultimately did. I had corrective consults with two plastic surgeons. Both surgeons agreed and commented that the liposuction on my legs and arms was drastically overdone. The concave area in my thighs where the folds of skin lay was because the liposuction cannula passed through that area way too many times. One surgeon said “Renuvion cannot make up for bad liposuction”. I also learned that mini-arm lifts aren’t recommend as they rarely give the results desired and leave the patient with unnatural tenting in the armpit. Both surgeons agreed the offered solution, excessing the skin to correct my thighs, was awful. Both presented solutions for my thighs that resulted in no scars. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for my arms. Because of the level of damage done from the excess liposuction the only viable solution was indeed a full arm lift. I reached out to Dr. Sundin with the results of the second opinion. He responded to like he had no idea who I was or my past surgical history with him, offering that if I was unhappy with my results to come into the office for a follow-up to discuss solutions. I do not expect a surgeon to remember me, my name, even after everything he out me through, but I would expect he review my chart before responding. I responded as much and never heard back from Dr. Sundin again. The only response I received was from an admin letting me know I could pick up my chart as I requested. I suppose out of sight, out of mind. Dr. Sundin made his $30k+ on me and didn’t need to be bothered to respond. For anyone considering surgery with Dr. Sundin/VIPS I don’t think I can strongly enough say PLEASE RECONSIDER, reach out to me. I am happy to share my chart, before & afters, all the details of my experience. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. I can however, recommend the plastic surgery who fixed Dr. Sundin's mess. He has unbelievable skill and an amazing team too.
