Love This Office

I am a 61 year old female, physically fit and active. In fact, I'm probably in better physical shape these past 10 years or so than in my entire life! However, I have been plagued by saddle bags for as long as I can remember. Even when I ran a couple of marathons and was almost too thin, there they sat! I've always struggled with my weight, but have found that exercise and a good diet keep things in check. Except the saddle bags! After a friend told me about her friend's experience at Dr. Hiers, I decided to *finally* make an appointment. From my initial consult, I was impressed with Dr. Hiers and her staff. Jay was the nurse who assisted on that first visit, and she was so kind and helpful. I am also a Type 1 diabetic (40 years now), and Dr. Hiers addressed every concern regarding my risks without me having to ask or ply her with questions. During the workup and pre-op phase, I was so impressed with Amber, the nurse who coordinated my procedure. She was so friendly, reassuring, and prompt in getting back to me on questions, etc. Everyone in Dr. Hiers office is exceptional in both professionalism and friendliness! As it turned out, my blood pressure had become an issue (!), so surgery was delayed while I worked with my internist on regulating things. Dr. Hiers made it clear that she would not risk the procedure unless my BP was controlled and good; that is the sign of a caring, cautious medical professional! The day arrived for the procedure...I was nervous, excited, and ready for it to be over with...lol! All went well - the two nurses who assisted were wonderful, and Dr. Hiers was great...my questions were answered, I was made to feel as relaxed as possible, and everything was done in a caring way. I'm just now one week out, so the swelling, etc. will not reveal the final results for some time. I do feel that I will be happy with the results, though, and look forward to the end of the healing phase. I would trust Dr. Hiers with any other procedure I might consider - with no hesitation! We did talk about another procedure or two I was curious about, and to her credit, she dissuaded me based on less than great results in Type 1 diabetic women, as well as my age factor. I appreciated that so much. Others would probably have encouraged me, despite the chance of poor results, based on the income it would produce. If you're considering any type of procedure, I feel confident in recommending Dr. Hiers and her wonderful staff!!
