3 Weeks Post Surgery

Took me awhile to update after surgery. Recovery was SO much harder than I imagined. This includes my surgery day and the weeks following, so it's long!
I have to update my last post. I was contacted a few days prior to surgery by Dr. Rossi's patient coordinator and she ran through the day before/day of surgery and answered all of my questions. She was very thorough. I think the lack of immediate response so far ahead of surgery was probably due to their case load. I'm a nervous person by nature so that was a little hard for me.

The day of surgery was great. I got there around 8am and was taken back immediately. They did a few screenings (temp check, pregnancy test) and had me change and head into a private room. The anesthesiologist came in to meet me and answer any questions I had, which I really appreciated. Dr. Rossi then came in and marked my body up for surgery. I was a major ball of nerves and started crying . He must have thought I was nuts. He was SO sweet though and definitely calmed all of my fears. After, I walked myself in to the OR and laid on the table. There were a few nurses and the anesthesiologist in the room, and the room was COVERED with my before photos! Yikes haha!

The anesthesiologist was very calming and did a great job. I felt little pain with the initial IV (which was massive) and went to sleep quickly and peacefully. Next thing I know I was awake and in the recovery area. My surgery was performed at Ranch and Coast Surgery Center. I had a dedicated nurse that night who stayed with me and tended to me very well. I was in and out a lot until morning and pretty doped up. She made sure I wasn't ever in any real pain which was great. I was also very worried about getting sick from anesthesia (my epidural during birth made me violently ill). Dr. Rossi prescribed two different medications for that to be taken prior to surgery ad I felt zero nausea post surgery.
Apparently Dr. Rossi had a nurse call my husband after about 4 hours of surgery to update him. The surgery took nearly 6 hours and he removed 10 liters of fat! He stayed with me until I woke up (but I honestly don't remember that) and called my husband with me (don't remember that either!). He came to pick me up the following morning at 8am.

I cannot BELIEVE the swelling. It's insane. My entire body blew up and I've never been more uncomfortable in my life. The pain meds helped but I was worried about taking them for too long and stopped after less than a week. Big mistake! Keep taking your pain meds!

Dr. Rossi checked in on me constantly following surgery. He texted both my husband and I frequently. He responded to all of our texts and phone calls. You dont get that kind of direct communication from doctors usually and it was amazing. He's so kind and knowledgeable and honestly is just such a calming presence.

I began getting lymphatic massages about a week after surgery. I'm having these performed in office by their massage therapist. She's beyond incredible. I'm 25lbs down and am seeing amazing changes! I cannot wait until all of the swelling is gone.

10 days out- extremely anxious.

I had preop and it went well. Dr. Rossi is SO responsive to any concerns and immediately makes you feel comfortable. I have major anxiety about this procedure and he did a good job answering all of my questions and helping that a bit. He did recommend I stay overnight at the surgery center, so that was an added cost they didn't mention upfront. But after some research it seems given the volume of fat he expects to remove it's the safest option, so I appreciate that.

I do have to say I'm extremely disappointed by the patient coordinator. Part of the reason I chose Dr. Rossi is because his reviews all say how he places patient care at the top of his priority list. He even gives out his personal cell number to patients which I love. Early on his patient coordinator emailed me without issue (when it regarded payment and scheduling of preop), but since then I have never received a response to my multiple emails. She did indicate on one phone call that she believed she emailed me but I never got it, so I asked her to send it to my husband's email. We never received communication to either (very run of the mill gmail) account. I even called last week with a question and left a voicemail on her direct line, that I never received a call back for. This is pretty disappointing, but I know it has nothing to do with Dr. Rossi so I am trying not to let it affect how I feel about my upcoming procedure, but it certainly isn't helping my anxiety! It's a bit of a bummer that this is how the weeks leading up to my surgery are making me feel. If I didnt have to forego such a huge amount of money I'd actually consider postponing at this point.

Liposuction/Liposculpture

My body has changed a ton post baby and despite being pretty active and mindful about my diet I just don't look the way I'd like to. I did almost a year of research into doctors in my area. I was so impressed with Dr. Rossi. He took over an hour during a consult to sit and talk with me. He was genuinely interested in me as a person and what I wanted for my body. I'm excited (albeit really nervous) for my procedure. It's booked for 4/1 and I'll be getting liposculpture with bodytite of the stomach, back (bra line) legs and arms. I've never been put under anesthesia so I am super nervous. I also feel like I've seen so many horror stories of rippling or lumps after lipo but after speaking with Dr. Rossi he assured me this is often due to mismanaged care and/or surgery. I'm hopeful I dont have those results! Will update as I continue on the journey!
