Liposuction of Knee Complex and Full Inner Thighs

I submitted pictures and received quotes from Dr. Gruber and another well-known surgeon who specializes in lipo of the legs - specifically the knee complex; both doctors were out of state and would require me to fly in for the procedure. After reviewing the quotes and studying numerous before and after pictures and videos, I chose Dr. Gruber as my surgeon. I simply preferred her aesthetic - she tends to leave a bit more curve, which I appreciate.
When I arrived for my surgery on July 12th and had my in-person consult with Dr. Gruber, we discussed what was most important to me/my goals for this surgery. If my goal was to have "skinny" thighs, Dr. Gruber warned me that based on my age (49) & her assessment of my skin, I would need a thigh lift if she removed that much fat. I advised her that I definitely did NOT want a thigh lift and she assured me that she would thin my thighs to the point where I would have shapely legs and as little loose skin as possible.
The procedure itself went as expected. I received excellent and compassionate care from everyone involved, specifically my consultant Tatiana, Angie, who held my hand during intense moments and gave me yummy snacks, Juliana, who was actually in training and did a fabulous job, and of course, Dr. Gruber herself. When I stood up at the end to see my immediate results... I was AMAZED. I have had fat knees/ungainly legs for my entire life and I could not believe what I was seeing in the mirror. I LOVE the shape of my "new" legs!!!
After the procedure, my daughter picked me up and I spent the evening and night sleeping off and on. I will not sugarcoat this - I was in MAJOR burning, throbbing pain. I took 1/2 a Vicodin every 4 hours (I am very sensitive to meds so I did not want to take a whole pill) and it barely brought the pain down to a tolerable level. I was scheduled for a follow-up the next morning, and to fly home that evening, so when I finally got up on the morning of July 13th I started panicking and wondering how I was going to manage any of that! I even started looking into moving my flights, etc but it was all too complicated. I realized I was going to have to make things work and just give myself plenty of time to get places and DEFINITELY use wheelchair assistance for my flight home. I managed to get through everything and make it home, and with the aid of 1/2 a Vicodin had a good night's sleep.

DAY 5 and 6 POST OP

bgood72
DAY 5 PO was the first day I could move about with a manageable level of pain. I was able to do a few simple chores around the house, but I tired easily. It was also the first day I switched to just OTC painkillers.
DAY 6 PO I have woken up EXTREMELY swollen; I was warned by Dr. Gruber that bruising and swelling would hit between PO days 5-7 so I am not alarmed in any way. I just keep staring at my "immediately after" photos to remind myself how I will eventually look!
My pain level is manageable, and the swelling is definitely uncomfortable, but it is still lightyears better than PO days 1-4
I am attaching pictures to show the progression.

DAY 12 PO

Day 12 PO and SWELL HELL is in FULL EFFECT, as are colorful bruises. Pain is definitely manageable - I have mainly soreness and stiffness now. I am extremely eager for the swelling to resolve so I can see and enjoy my new shape!!! After investing the $ and enduring the pain, it is scary to watch my results disappear and start wondering if they will return and be permanent!?! In talking with others, apparently, that is normal at this stage, but patience has never been one of my virtues lol!!! I am adding "progress" pics of my current SWELL HELL and bruises.
